Forget pay-to-win, because the PS Store has become the home of pay-for-Platinums. Given the addictive nature of Sony’s gongs, it was only a matter of time before cunning companies monetised the popular pots, and we’re beginning to see more and more titles leaning into easy Trophies. In the case of publishers like Ratalaika Games – a pioneer of the concept – releases like SEGA Mega Drive port Gleylancer have value beyond their easily achievable trinkets; others less so.
Take the Breakthrough Gaming Arcade series, a long-line of black-and-white titles that apparently peddle Christian values – although the connections are loose. These are extremely simplistic minigames that release every Sunday for pennies, including titles like Rock Paper Scissors. We picked this one up yesterday out of curiosity and were able to achieve the Platinum Trophy in 2 minutes and 31 seconds, earning gongs for “achievements” like losing with a rock.
At the time of writing, there are almost 60 games in this series on the PS Store, none more complicated than a Game & Watch handheld from the late 80s. Other series include Breakout clones from Smobile, of which there are almost 150 already released. Each one is a palette swap: Sushi Break, Donut Break, Christmas Break, Independence Day Break – heck, even Taco Break. These take a few more minutes to complete, but are sold primarily for their Platinums.
In fact, publishers have learned that if they can game the system, they can maximise their income. Many of these games have multiple lists for PS5 and PS4, as well as different regions. It all encourages Trophy hunters to “double dip” because if they buy the game twice – in both the US and Europe, for example – they can get two Platinums, sometimes even four, for their troubles. Some of these games, according to PSNProfiles, have thousands of players.
When you consider that a proper game, like Moss: Book 2, has about 64 players on PSNProfiles, you can see the strategy working. Obviously, the PSNProfiles website doesn’t track all players, and is largely occupied by Trophy hunters, but clearly the tactic is effective. A look at the biggest Trophy cabinets in the world, from players like Hakoom, shows that a large chunk of their 4,346 Platinum Trophies is made up of these kind of games.
While many Trophy hunters also beat big titles as well, it’s clear that these effortless Platinums are becoming increasingly popular. The question is: are they diminishing the importance of Trophies in the first place? We’re not advocating curation from Sony, as we think that’s a dangerous path to follow, but as Platinums edge closer to the 60-second mark, is the whole system in jeopardy of losing its importance entirely?

Can somebody please explain to me why trophies are such a big thing for them? And can somebody please tell me how to completely disable them? Thank you.
It isn't much of a problem. Each platinum trophy is representative of its own game.
If some people are using it as a way to increase their own total platinum trophies, it doesn't really makes a difference to the rest.
@Max_the_German well, I like trophies, but I don't play games just to earn trophies, some people are just going too far and companies take advantage of that. I don't think there's a way for disabling the trophies, but I think you can disable the notifications.
@Max_the_German I don't think you can disable them besides notifications. Well, for me the Plat trophy is the culmination of playing a game...it's like doing 100% back in the day, but now I uninstall the game when I get the plat most of the times.
I don't have any pay for plat games mind you! Not even My name is Mayo or wtv is that game lol
I hope Sony gives us trophies in the classic PS Plus Premium service! It's the thing I want the most
@redapt In terms of "value" to the system, there's no difference between Rainbow's Platinum and Elden Ring's Platinum, though, despite one taking 45 seconds and the other 100 hours.
@Max_the_German Just turn the notifications off and ignore it?
I like trophies because they give me goals to aim for, maximising my value from a game and keeping my interest in the long term. That being said, I only play games I enjoy and if any trophies become unenjoyed (speed runs, extreme difficulties) I just don't go for them. I have no interest in buying a game just for the trophies.
These insane Christian games clog the store like a post-kebab jobbie in a pub toilet.
If only we could go back to the time where Ratalaika was "ruining" trophies with their easy lists. Sure the lists could be completed in 15 minutes, but at least there was an actual real game too, unlike what's being released today.
Has been the case for years and years. On PSNProfiles, I'm in the top 100 of Vita players in my country, but everyone around me on the leaderboard has 30+ ten minute RatalaikaPlats.
Frustrating, but it is what it is. Sony sees money from these 'games' so of course they're happy to let them onto the store.
@Milktastrophe It's true! The Ratalaika games, despite being very easy, are absolute Game of the Year gold compared to some of this stuff.
Don't they have to pay Sony to have their game on the ps store?
Just goes to show how many people are paying if they're getting by for selling it less than a buck.
On a side note, I could use a taco break right about now.
@Max_the_German the trophies in these non-games are only important to very few people, because they want to stay at the top of the leaderboard. Hakoom and Ikemenzi I believe have gotten Guinness world records out of it, I don't think anyone else has been so "successful".
I'm surprised you've only just noticed lol.
I'm not really fussed about it, despite being a fan of trophy hunting. I'm not sure if it actually devalues anything. Even amongst quote unquote real games, there's a huge discrepency in time/skill required between getting the Platinum in Elden Ring and getting the Platinum in Telltale's The Walking Dead etc. Two Platinums aren't of equal prestige and they never have been so this changes little.
It kinda works on two levels. You've got the anything goes shovelware 5 minute Platinums for the hunters who only care about seeing the numbers go up - a metagame to itself - and then you've got the other kind of trophy hunters who are going after specific titles - more akin to a big game hunter that wants specific scalps.
@get2sammyb in terms of value MS and xbox do it sort of better where a developer can give a value between 1 and 1000 to an achievement as long as the total amount for a game adds up to 1000 pre updates or dlc.
The issue here is no one is stopping devs from making games with a single 1000GS achievement and adding extra 1000GS achievements in updates.
Have to admit and I'm not proud of it, but I got some of these easy platinums, though just the Eastasiasoft shmups. I have most of them. In this case, they are also decent games.
I am a trophy hunter (181 plats currently XD) and i dont go for games like this. Sure there are easy platinums like tellttale games ones where you basically complete the game but other times theres ones like death stranding that took like 90hours which feel more earned. Theres no satisfaction in getting a plat in 10 mins like this imo
I've always thought of the trophies as a nice little bonus for doing something obscure, or a chuck on the shoulder for completing a task/quest/challenge that took some effort. Piling up easy-to-get platinum trophies so that you can declare to the world "I have ____ platinum trophies now!" seems like an empty pursuit. I'm really not trying to be critical here, but how can it mean anything if you achieved a platinum by mashing buttons for a couple of minutes?
Im a huge trophy hunter and these games are disgusting to me. Any account that stacks these are trash. Its honestly starting to get annoying with how cluttered the PS store is becoming with them. Sony really needs to get it under control.
Trophies never have importance, its just a fun feature. I agree that some peaple became obcessed with this, can't understand though.
People enjoy different things. I don't oppose having the red-light district of easy platinum trophies around for those who just want a quick thrill without any commitment - it's just not my thing.
Lol imagine thinking trophies carry any prestige at all tbh. The only thing more gauche would be calling yourself a trophy hunter in the first place
I love my Trophies but they are nothing more than a personal log of games I have played. Funny thing is the more noise people make about how bad a trophy is the more I personally want it! Just like I had to get Hanna Montana for that reason and add it to my trophy list. Trophies give you goals to complete in games sometimes to things so you don't miss them. Playing a game is not some great accomplishment it life, you are playing for enjoyment and to have fun Right?
@PenguinLtd Same. I used to be a bit obsessive about trophies and achievements too. I haven't completely given up hunting, I'll still look at a roadmap first and get as many in one playthrough or a reasonable amount of time after. But I no longer obsess over getting the platinum/1000 GS and only go for it in games i'm really enjoying that also respect my time, most don't sadly.
Trophies/achievements are like the bells and whistles of the casino world. Nothing more than noises to entice us to play more. And bragging rights, I guess. "I platinumed bloodborne and you didnt, noob." It's not like we get a discount or gift certificate for reaching a milestone in trophies/achievements.
But on the flip side, whatever gets people, the most enjoyment out of their purchase. Trophies/achievements don't hurt nor bother me, so let others gather them up.
When achievements and then trophies first started there were some truly wonderful ones that fundamentally changed how you played a game, this gave you a better understanding and appreciation of the game and it's mechanics. They still exist but are rarer. A few classics include:
These were all worthwhile achiemvents that gave a trophy. Sadly most are awful collectathons and other similar time-wasting dross nowadays.
This is trophy scavenging, not hunting. Trophies are about gaming prestige and there is none to be had from this shovelware.
What @johncalmc said. That's just it. Right on point.
Trophy hunter here and for some unexplainable reason I enjoy looking at my trophy list and do so quite regularly. Can’t imagine anything worse than looking at my list and seeing these types of games on there. The shame I would feel. But having said that I hold nothing against those that stack these games. Each to their own.
@Max_the_German Because they extend a game far beyond what it would be without Trophies. They increase replayability and make you do things that you wouldn't normally do in the game otherwise. They also increase the sense of achievement and accomplishment, especially if you've earned a very hard Trophy.
It also seperates the men from the boys. People with low Trophy counts are obviously casual gamers where as high trophies counts are obviously the more hardcore gamers.
I feel that why this is happening too is because Sony has bad game management in which games get the green light to go onto the PS Store, almost any game can get on there.
It’s the meta game and it’s gotten completely out of control. I love plats as much anyone but I only have 62 in all these years for a reason, either it’s a good list that respects your time or it’s not.
But now we’re paying purely for pings?? E-clout is really getting weird now.
@Snake_V5 If this is satirical, then it is great.
@Max_the_German When I was talking about the whole thing about the men from the boys, I was joking of course. The rest is serious though.
Quality over quantity… I’d be ashamed having trash games on my platinum list. More doesn’t equate to better.
Trophies, when done well, can be a great way to have you experience all the content a game has, pushing you to try things you might have skipped otherwise. They can provide a challenge you have to overcome or hint to you that there might be more than one ending to your favorite games. Individual trophy count is pretty worthless, getting that number as high as possible doesn't really matter if you're just going to pad it with 60 second games. You can compete with the other crazies if you want that honor.
Trophies, when done well, can make you feel like you explored everything your game has to offer. That's why typically when I platinum one I feel like it's finally "done", I can put it on the shelf and comfortably say "yes, I experienced every single thing in that game." That and I can always look back at my list and look through this virtual gallery if gaming experiences I've had. I used to be way more into hunting back in the PS3 era but now I see them as a companion to excellent games, again...when done well. This is why I would like trophies for the PS1 & PS2 games, It helps with replayability and feels like a new challenge is added on top of what is already there.
These article titles are illegible at times.
@get2sammyb So whats the issue with "christian" games? We have lgbtq games as well as the games displaying black lives matter logos etc..so why does push square feel the relevance to mention this? Just for clarification i'm not christian nor am i open for discussion on relgious beliefs (its a personal thing for pretty much everybody) but i dont see the need for the comment..
I mean, I people are stupid enough to waste money on ***** games just to get a virtual trophy of no real value, let them be stupid.
That's capitalism and human stupidity walking side by side.
@nessisonett i expected a better comment from you taking into account your past stance on any form of discrimination..
@Northern_munkey I’m literally Catholic. I grew up on these awful ‘educational’ tools to act down with the kids.
@nessisonett i remember a comment you made in a post about assassins creed valhalla where you mentioned something about you rocking a suit of armour and it bringing out the "fenian" in you or words to that effect so i guessed you were catholic probably..i have always admired your stance on any forms of discrimination so to see this from you was really a bit of a let down.
@nessisonett i'm more miffed at push square for highlighting this as it was totally irrelevant.
My Name is Mayo is such a grind compared to the trophy shovelware that has flooded the PSN nowadays. You could plat 50 of these games in the time it took to get the Hannah Montana plat on ps3.
@Max_the_German They serve as additional objectives for people who completionists. They can also serve as a reminder as to what games you have played and how much stuff you did in it. And maybe you can see how much of a game some else has played. And for those who have no interest in them, the best thing is that they are completely optional
Sony used to have standards but seem to have stopped caring. If they don’t put trophies into the PS+ retro games then the writing is really on the wall for the phenomenal metagame.
@get2sammyb For me it has a big difference is fun i had with the game and people complain about €5 a month for PS Plus but pay money for this crap?
@Lem1697 But as a real gamer these games just make you look sad in my eyes.
@meistergeister Cant agree i was so proud to earn the trophies on the harder games but these games are no fun and hold no value and Sony really devalues them a lot.
@Northern_munkey The problem isn’t that the games are Christian, the problem is that they’re garbage. They’re a specific company dedicated to releasing bizarre MS Paint-drawn messes which barely resemble games. At least Super Noah’s Ark 3D is actually good, these have no place on the PS Store solely for lack of quality. It’s highly disingenuous to try and paint me as some sort of anti-Christian when that’s the environment I was raised in and therefore I have more of an understanding of this type of media than an awful lot of others here.
@nessisonett i'm not painting you as anything at all..through the years spent reading your comments about yourself and how strongley you advocate against discrimination i have geniunly gained an awful lot of respect for you and your views..i would never accuse you of being "anti-christian" because i honestly dont think you are..maybe i've read a bit too much into your comment and i apologise for any misunderstanding on my part..i just found your comment a bit off..
They should definitely be doing some quality assurance and it absolutely devalues the system.
Really easy to solve. Disable auto pop for different versions and have a minimum time requirement that the majority of gamers wouldn't be able to plat the game in. 4 or 5 hours perhaps.
I've got a couple of garbage time plats out of curiosity, the classic...My Name is Mayo and Slyde. But I had to have a 6 hour long shower because of the shame after.
I tend to look at what platinum trophies have, rather than quantity.
@Max_the_German Millenials need to feel like an elitist somehow, ha
Well, I got screwed out of a platinum or two because of servers closures, like Resistance 2 and Saints Row 4, these can bring me balance.
People need to get their dopamine fill some other way. I have plenty of platinums, but I only get the ones for games I like. Buying games for the trophies is DUMB.
@get2sammyb I have R6 siege's platinum twice. I wish I didn't have twice, but I still play that game so lol.
It really doesn't bother me. If a few of my platinums are autopop, it doesn't make the others invalid.
@ScarletSpidey My thoughts exactly.
I just like getting platinums on games I enjoy a lot, not because of their difficulty or just to see big numbers. I’ve only got three or four platinums, which isn’t much, but comes with the nice feeling of hanging out with friends, scrolling through the trophies for all my games, and saying “Yeah, I love that one.” With some shiny thingies to show for it.
It’s also pretty dang satisfying to get a reaaaally hard trophy, or even just fun to see them and think “I’ll NEVER get that one.” Its just some fun checklists and mini accomplishments to look at when you aren’t playing the games themselves. More things to do on the Home Screen the better
I am not a trophy hunter by any means-I have 16 Plats., and I have been gaming extensively for much longer than trophies have been a thing. I play a game until I am done with it, and if I have a Platinum it means I either got it by accident just playing or there was only a trophy or two left when I finished the game.
That said, I do enjoy trophies a lot. They are a good diary for what you did in a game to look back on later. Sometimes they encourage me to try things in a game I did not think of. And sometimes they cause a funny moment-I am not going to spoil it, but I recently did something in the Ascent that I have done in every video game possible for years and an achievement finally popped for it. I could not stop laughing.
What I absolutely do not care about is my trophy ranking or anything like that. Perfectly fine if other folks do, but that is not why I game. So these easy Platinum trophies are fine with me if people enjoy them (I am certainly not deleting my Telltale game plats!), but they are not for me. I play games to have fun, and would still play them without trophies or achievements. Those are just a cool side benefit that adds a little extra to the game for me.
@Snake_V5
"It also seperates the men from the boys..."
I don't think... nevermind.
That's why I don't tend to buy these games if I can help it, I'm not completely innocent I've brought a few but apart from that I only play the proper games for plat, not to cheese, that why you see people on PSN with 700 platinums only to realise majority of their games are these cheap platinums and nothing serious on their games list rofl
” We’re not advocating curation from Sony, as we think that’s a dangerous path to follow” WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT hahaha. Sony definitely needs curation on the ps store, big time. And these games are a horrible example of what needs to get off the store.
I trophy collect but only for games I like. I’m not paying for an easy platinum. There are no benefits to having a platinum besides from self-satisfaction. I do 100% believe Studios should reward players when they get a platinum though. At minimum, a special PSN avatar and theme (PS5 needs themes plz) should be guaranteed. Dunno what else could be given but doing those are so easy and would make it feel worthwhile to some players. Just my thought
The people who play these games are sad and have far too much time on their hands.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm 130 hours into Elden Ring and I really must get back to it.
@Northern_munkey Absolutely nothing wrong with Christian games at all, the article is about the easy Trophies.
@DylanP Nah, I think curation is dangerous because who's to decide what's good and bad. Where do you draw the line?
the pling sound is nice and all, but platinum is very annoying if some of the trophies are online only, not a fan of online gaming
@get2sammyb i dont think there was any need to bring attention to it..just an article about easy trophies would have sufficed..no need to mention whatever religion is attached to the game at all..if you had not mentioned it in your article but one of us had brought attention to it then posts would be removed for unconstructive remarks or irrelevant topic etc,etc...you will probably remove this as flaming/arguing or discussing moderation..please try and utilise a bit more discretion thankyou..
ive read all the comments do i get a platinum trophy
I enjoy when a platinum trophy is done well (Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Cyberpunk 2077) - I don't mind it when you have to do multiple plays throughs (Blue Reflection Second Light, CODE VEIN).
I really dislike easy plats, and I admit, if you check my profile I have way too many of these games. Took me too long to realise they are not worth it.
Trophies in and of themselves are meaningless. It's only the memories associated with collecting them via playing the game that gives them value. It's a nice cherry on top of an otherwise complete experience.
It's why I don't really bother at all remembering the number of platinums I've collected over time. And why this racket isn't even the slightest bit tempting to me.
With that said, it's not my place to judge how others take to enjoying the hobby. If blasting through hundreds of ten minute "games" to collect platinums is what brings people joy, then have at it!
Why would anyone buy these just for a trophy? I think its just sad, I get people trophy hunting in games they enjoy and as some kind of achievement but this is neither and utterly worthless. Not only that it kind of devalues all other trophies
These platinums only have value due to leaderboards like psnprofiles and psntrophyleaders as they allow people to move up the ranks as they earn more platinums. Sony's change to the trophy system a couple of years ago only increased the value of the platinum making these games even more attractive.
I think a change to the leaderboards is more likely than a change to the game production/trophy rules. If the leaderboards removed all games that took less than 30 mins or 15 mins or 5 mins and moved these games to there own leaderboard they would instantly become less attractive.
Because of this risk do not be surprised to see one of these quick platinum game producers invest in one of the major leaderboard sites to secure their place.
I'm guilty of doing it from time to time. They are $1.49 a piece (the ones released by the company that did the already mentioned Rainbow), so it's not like I'm paying a ridiculous amount of money. If they were priced at $4.99 or even a ridiculous $9.99, I wouldn't give it a thought, but at $1.49 a piece here and there it's not bad or anything. I still play plenty of regular games.
Removed - flaming/arguing
It's their time and money. If having hundreds/thousands of cheap and easy platinums is what some want so be it. Cheap and easy platinums are obvious. It is quantity over quality.
@Danloaded I totally understand I’m the same exact way. I play and platinum games (58 and counting) that I like and that take skill, time, energy and/or effort. I also don’t care to auto pop trophies either…I’m not gonna play the entirety of the ps4 version just to plat the ps5 version in 11 seconds LOL
My last 5 plats are Gran Turismo 7, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Guardians of the Galaxy, Returnal and Horizon: Forbidden West
These pay to plats are a disgrace to the system and the devs should be held accountable for it.
@Bazooka Haha, not my best.
Who remembers when hannah Montana, terminator salvation and Prince of persia were considered the shamefully easy trophies? How far we've fallen lol.
I do like trophies though, they present an interesting gaming history of each person, even if size doesn't really matter any more.
Why does this seem more prevalent on PlayStation than on Xbox? Does Microsoft have a higher quality standard than Sony or do these “developers” make more money off PlayStation? I mean it’s the same gimmick, so what’s the difference?
(Observation, not fanboy comment)
@Loftimus of course i am..i am dragging everbody else into this..i already apologised to nessisonett and the only other person i brought into this was sammy..white knighting? Why because i didnt agree about how an article portrayed something and spoke my mind? Wow and i need to take a look at myself..i'm sure there are things you feel strongly about as well and feel the need to speak your mind..oh wait you just did..👍
@Loftimus oh and its irrelevant to me what religion you are or were..its a moot point..try reading what i've typed as there is nothing i've said thats insulted or knocked anybody for their beliefs..
@Loftimus hang on i remember you..i seem to remember engaging in a discussion not too long ago where you had a right old tantrum because the conversation was not going your way and you shouted "I'M THE VICTIM HERE!!!" In a very mature and collected maner..i have no need to discuss anything more with you in any capacity because you are very narrow minded..i'm ignoring you now..

I enjoy earning trophies/achievements...IN GAMES I ENJOY playing...I'm not going to buy a game just to get some or play games I don't enjoy....If you do this then you probably want to take a look at your life lol
@Max_the_German Agreed.
I can understand someone wanting to squeeze every last drop of value or recognition out of a game, e.g. getting the platinum for Bloodborne or Elden Ring, demonstrating skill and perseverance and also helping them to savor the longevity of the game. However they are only relevant when tied to a specific game - not in general. Would I 'buy' the platinum for Elden Ring, of course not, not even for 1p, would I care if it didn't exist, of course not. Will I get it, of course.
I don't get why some games don't have Platinum trophies (e.g. Edith Finch, Eternal Cylinder, Dear Esther), but dross like this does.
Is it decided by the developer or does Sony have a say?
Anyone know?
@Max_the_German ever since I downloaded a certain patch for drakes fortune back in 2009 I think?, I’ve been hooked… sue me
@Mossbergs I think it depends on the games size/scope & price. I believe trophies themselves are given a points score, much like achievements on xbox and devs will make up the score using whatever trophies they fancy. That’s why for example ‘Frogger’ on PS3 had 5 gold trophies if I remember rightly, and then other games of similar size may have 15 bronze, but these will add up to the same amount.
Then obviously the bigger titles are given a bigger score hence they usually have around 50 trophies of varying grades. I don’t play xbox but I think trophies basically work the same as achievements 🤷🏻♂️
I like getting the plat for games I really enjoyed. This is kinda sad imo but people can do what they want I guess.
@get2sammyb But there is clearly games that doesn’t belong on the ps store. There should only be quality titles and “real” games. MOS 2 selling like a 100 copies is a horrible president for things to come. There should absolutely be curated games, and much much less games every week on the store. Now any bozo can code some crap in a day and throw it up on the store… The PS5 is a console, dedicated for games, made easy for the public. You should be confident that every game you buy on the service, is a game that has some value.
you’ve gotta be kidding me
I prefer to have fewer but more meaningful platinum trophies for games I love. I wish there was a way to delete unwanted trophies from my list.
Sony needs to have better control over the games coming on the PS Store
@redapt Exactly...people interested in trophies can't really show off these platinums for lesser games because we all know platinum difficulty of bigger games.
@RadicalThe_Tay
Nintendo Eshop and Steam have more junk than the PS Store and Xbox Store
@themightyant That umbrella trophy is still eluding me. Great little game though 😋
@Mossbergs I thought it was tied to the price of the game on launch?
@brubeck Yeah but there's more trophies being added all the time due to Comments(TM) being a live service 😋
@Old-Red Like Mr. Massagey 😋🧐😥
I laugh at people who buy these games to buy a platinum. it devalues all the the ones that actually required skill and work to get.
why spend 200 hours earning red dead redemption platinum when you could just spend 50p and buy a platinum.
@KayOL77 Yes it's a simply brilliant game. The trick (for me at least) was concentrating on magic, effectively becoming a mage, and only using the umbrella to restock stamina/energy. It completely changed the way I played the game, which I loved.
@Golem25 How do you check to see the top vita players by country? I would love to see where I stack up!
Edit: I figured out how. Click on "Country rank" on your profile banner image then filter by console. I am currently #372 in my country. Thought I would be higher. Either there are actually some fans of the vita I need to meet or there are lots of trophy spammers.
@dancingmind On your profile, click into either your worldwide or country rank.
On the next screen, you'll see a header near the top, towards the right, saying 'All platforms - PS5 - PS4 PS3 - Vita -VR - Multiplatform'.
Click any of those to get to the platform-specific leaderboard. You'll see your world rank and domestic rank next to the 'Cheaters removed' number above the leaderboard, on the left. Now click into that domestic rank to be taken to the relevant page of the leaderboard you're currently sat on.
Aaaaaaand only once I typed this all out did I realize you figured it out already. Damn. In my experience, it's all spammers. Check the guys directly above and below you on the leaderboard. Can almost guarantee both have spammed Rata games.
@themightyant Contrary to me where Id prefer to defeat the bosses with the death of a thousand soggy whacks 😋. That will explain me being over 200+ hours on the first playthrough of Elden ring...
Self proclaimed trophy addict here 13 years in, around 90 of my 280 plats are grubby radlanker plats. About 40 of those 90 where kind of fun, gave up on those no fulfilment for me. Doing hard trophies is such a buzz, other than that just gives me a goal to aim for. U do u if smashing out 100 cheesy plats is your fun crack on, probably devavles it for some people but such is life.
Me personally I don't really care if they are padding their trophies out because the game makes the difference in difficulty and all gamers know what hard and whats easy, if thats what they think is bragging rights, hey let them have it because its their money. But there are solutions to it but Sony is probably making a little money off them and it would hurt them to take away platinum on mini games and such because I don't think trophy farmers would buy them for bronze because it wouldn't bump the score up. And Im sure theres tons of families out there who would be upset if they quit making them because I know of several that are church going and like them because there is no violence and several for their toddlers. So in the game economy its always good to be diverse, because no matter what you do theres always going to be someone not happy or someone manipulating a system.
One word: DISGUSTING!!!
@AFCC They should give people "points" that can be accumulated over time for things like platinum etc. As of now, people only get the platinum for bragging rights and to see and do everything. Like you, i also uninstall the game after I did everything, like there is no reason to do anything anymore. I used to be on the honor roll in highschool, so I was an overachiever big time
@Ken_Kaniff they dont care man, the model is about "MONEY" we trophy hunters can moan all day, pretty much nothing will change... unfortunately
I think that my very first Platinum trophy was for the original Uncharted - Drake’s Fortune, on the PS3.
At least that felt like a real achievement. Still not sure how I had the patience for crushing difficulty.
And that is the point. Unlocking trophies is rewarding, sure, but you should feel like you have actually achieved something.
If you haven’t been challenged in the process - then are you not really just cheating? And even worse, the only person you are cheating is yourself.
I’m not really a great trophy hunter anyway.
That said, has anyone else played “Lake”?. It’s laidback and overall a lot of fun. Something a little bit different. There is a sort of “Twin Peaks” atmosphere to it. Point is, there are 12 trophies - Including a platinum. It took about a day-and-a-half overall.
@Kingcole2022
You have the gt7 platinum? What are the legend cars needed for the three car destined to win lemans? I haven't checked or played in two weeks but I have every other trophy aside from that one... Please tell me what the cars are I've obviously missed them but knowing what cars are needed are half the battle I've spent millions 🤣.
@MakersMark 1 cent discount for each Plat trophy or something like that would be dope!
@Golem25 Thank you for the effort anyways. I appreciate it
I have a couple Rata games on my profile, but they were really hard! Anyone with a League of Evil plat deserves praise from my perspective. Still i know what you are saying.
@Max_the_German
I'd love to know how to get rid of the trophies I have no interest in them what so ever
This trend got even worse when Sony reworked players' trophy levels and gave more weight to platinum trophies. Most Ratalaika games are masterpieces compared to the crap in the store now and decent games don't get noticed.
I used to have a mindset that anyone who earns these trophies aren't really "good" trophy hunters or the like. As I grew up I figured out I was being stupid and who really cares about what trophies people earn. I'm guilty of getting the platinum on some of these pay to earn platinums, and I used to think it was terrible I did that but I don't really mind now. At the end of the day we all have our own idea of fun so just let people do their thing.
These games are a cancer on the store page. Pizza Rush, Hamburger Jump, Turbo Fries and it is ***** endless. It makes the new release page of the store look so ***** cheap. Seriously Sony need to stop this crap from being on the store, it makes finding games you might actually want to play for fun rather than a quick platinum trophy so hard to find.
I have actually stopped looking at new releases as often because of these wretched games, it ruins the experience.
