According to sources of the popular YouTube channel PSVR without Parole, a Killzone VR game was in development at Supermassive Games. We know that The Quarry developer teased further projects with Sony all the way back in 2018, stating that it was working on “several unannounced PlayStation exclusives”. One of these, allegedly, was Killzone VR.
PSVR without Parole claims that the platform holder was unhappy with the project’s progress, however, and decided to bring it in-house. They then hypothesise that development may have switched to PSVR2, as sales of the company’s original virtual reality headset started to slow down. If true, it’s possible the title may be announced during next week’s State of Play.
Of course, this is all hearsay and hypothesising, so approach this story with an appropriate pinch of sodium. Killzone VR does sound appetising to us, though: the series’ identifiable enemies and thick sci-fi setting would surely dazzle with Sony’s new headset, and first-person shooters are a great fit for virtual reality – especially with the new control capabilities of the PSVR2 Sense Controllers.

Now this has got interested in the new VR, more first party VR games is a must for it to sell
Hopefully its true.
I do miss Killzone and I loved Shadow Fall too and the multiplayer, which imo was criminally underrated.
Be very interested to try it in VR.
i played killzone 3 on the playstation 3d tv and it was pretty cool , so i'd gladly take a vr killzone game.
Helyeah. Love shooters in VR.
Just give us another full Killzone you cowards!!!! And a Motorstorm!! Stop sleeping on your IPs.
Would love a new Killzone, but only if I can play it without VR. Absolute no-go for me if not.
I always thought of Killzone as a title that always came out around launch times when games were few and weak and users are clamouring for anything. It’s not a terrible game but it’s far from an amazing one. Bit of a waste of time tbh
YESSSSSSS THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW TO BE HYPED FOR PSVR2!?!!?!!!
I am looking forward to the show now!
I've been clamouring for Killzone and Resistance remakes for PSVR for a while. I'll gladly take a new game instead, but I hope its a full-sized campaign, not some mini-experience of which we have seen too many on VR so far...
This would be awesome in VR. What was the last game sony made for psvr? Iron man?
There should definitely be a lot of first year support for psvr2…but I think I’m gonna wait a bit and see just how much they support it. I say this knowing full well I’ll cave in at some point and buy regardless. But if they start pricing vr games at £70 the whole things going to be a hard pass for me this time round. What would be a big incentive to buy a headset and a subscription upgrade would be placing VR games on their subs this time round - release those day 1.
Remember the fun I had playing Killzone 3 with the move sharpshooter, together with a friend in coop. Good times!
Give us a normal kill zone game screw vr.
@tameshiyaku I loved Medic in Killzone 2, I miss Sony first party shooters:
Socom
Resistance
Killzone
All need to make a comeback this generation!
@NomNom yes they do , they really do
Would be great to see Killzone back! I have a feeling it wouldn't be VR exclusive too if they did bring it back. If I remember correctly there was a story about Sony wanting most PSVR2 games to be playable in both VR and flat screen a while ago though I could be wrong.
Either way I'd still just be happy to see Killzone still exists!
Much to my disappointment, I find it very hard to believe that Sony cares at all about Killzone. Especially since they've not put a single Killzone title up on the new PS Plus tiers, can't see any legal issues with that considering they're first party.
@DrClayman either that or a remaster/remake/reboot is in the pipeline.
This would be enough for me to buy PSVR2 if true
