Here's something you don't regularly see in patch notes: this month's PlayStation Plus game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be getting voice acting via an update available today. You'll be able to "enjoy the quips and grunts of your favourite brawlers as you play", as well as make use of items in stages, which are also new to the fighting title. It's been confirmed the voices come from a mixture of the original actors as well as sound-alikes.
Tom Kenny reprises his role as SpongeBob, as does Bill FagerBakke as side-kick Patrick. Carolyn Lawrence is once again Sandy, and Townsend Coleman is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Michelangelo. For a full list of the voice actors, click the link. Alongside the two main additions is a long list of balance changes, including ones for stages and characters like Sandy, Shredder, and Danny Phantom. As for universal tweaks, airdashing has been nerfed ever so slightly and self-hit lag is no longer a thing when attacking a blocking enemy.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl joins PS Plus tomorrow along with God of War and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. 46 per cent of you voted the latest lineup to be a "crap" one in the latest Push Square poll. Does voice acting change your opinion at all? Have at it in the comments below.

Should've been there from the start but at least it's in time for PS Plus!
Finally! This makes the game much better! From what I've seen it won't be better than Multiversus, but this makes it a bit more fun
If Nigel Thornberry starts shouting "smashing!" I'm downloading this straight away!
Wow this is awesome, can't wait to play it now.
Wonder if the PS+ money helped them add this?
I feel for the devs because it was clearly made on a budget and the lack of voices makes it all feel a bit lifeless. Hopefully it recovers a bit more now.
This update just might have saved this game. The game seemed so lifeless without voice acting. Voice acting can really make or break a game. Voice actors don't get enough credit for the hard work they do, especially since many of them do more than just talk in a microphone.
What a crazy thing to patch in. Good on them.
Really? No Jessie Flower??? Why? She can still do the Toph voice and sounds exactly the same that sucks đ˘
Haha, voted a "crap one". I'll play Nick ASB for the easy plat. I don't think I know any of the characters other than the Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob and Ren & Stimpy. Powered Toast Man!
Adding voice acting through some patch is actual insanity
Blame Nickelodeon for not giving the team resources or approval for VA until the game came out and was a success.
This is something that should've been in from the start.
Looking forward to hearing Ren shout "yoo eediot!" if true!
This is extremely cool. I love when developers listen and respond to feedback like this. And they have some seriously deep cuts in here, it's gonna be great to hear some of those classic voices reprised! Looking forward to giving this one a go with PS Plus. If the gameplay clicks for me, I'll probably jump on the DLC as well.
Can we get some for the kart racing games next?
this is sad . imagine releasing bare-minimum voice acting as a later DLC in a so-called modern game . thatâs what happens when something gets snatched up by corporate suits though
does that make the game any better? god no, it's still torture even just thinking of this horrible game rofl
@TheCollector316 same for sound effects , and literally every thing else that isnât just âgameplayâ makes a game . i knew from the beginning that this game was just some corporate quick-buck soulless cash grab
@nomither6 at least you acknowledge that, imagine wasting your time trying to restore a audio cd, it skips and is scratched beyond repair when the process is pointless, that is basically this game, kmt
@huyi It's free for me to claim starting tomorrow, so I'm still willing to give it a chance.
I was already eager to try this game out, now I'm really on board
Only way they can hope to salvage this dismal plus collection...
Anyone know if they've made it cross play between PS4 and PS5 yet?
