Here's a game we haven't thought about in a long time. Lollipop Chainsaw, developed by Suda51's studio Grasshopper Manufacture, was a PS3 action title starring a zombie-slaying cheerleader. It did reasonably well at the time, and has gone down as a bit of a cult hit. Fast forward 10 years, and one key person says it's making a comeback.
Yoshimi Yasuda was CEO of Kadokawa Games, which published Lollipop Chainsaw in Japan, and he's now opening up a new company, Dragami Games. In the above tweet, he says the game is back, in development at this new studio, and we should look forward to it.
There's no other word about a revival of Lollipop Chainsaw yet, but this seems like confirmation either way. As for what the project actually is, we don't know — a remaster, a remake, or even just a straight port to modern consoles would be welcome.
Hopefully it won't be too long before we learn more. Would you like to see this game come back from the dead? Rev up those chainsaws in the comments section below.

That would be cool. I have sealed copy on PS3, however means hooking up my PS3...
@AndyKazama Keep it sealed! Even regular CIB second hand copies are pretty expensive.
Coming back as a Netflix series probably.😉
Nice, I've always wanted to give Lollipop Chainsaw a go!
I would love a remaster of this. I really enjoyed it.
oh man i remember this game popping up on those game programs on tv. gamepower it was called.
seeing this game unlocked some memories!
Would make my day if they remastered or re-released this
I never played it even back when I had an Xbox 360 so hopefully a remaster is announced at some point.
Oh my God! I remember getting my best friend this game as a joke birthday gift back in the day! But then when we sat down to actually try it we were completely charmed by it and it's become legit one of our favorite PS3 games! I'd be absolutely stoked to see it come back!
And then Shadows of the Damned please.
This is definitely a hidden gem. Would gladly take a remaster. (Or Shadows of The Damned?!)
But with all the censorship that's been happening, not just with Sony, but in general, and with how easy people get upset nowadays im also slightly afraid of what this can cause of issues. Lol
Is this game actually a cult hit? I feel like the Suda fans I know thought it was garbage. I played a couple hours and found it insanely tedious.
But as mentioned, please bring back Shadows of the Damned.
@rawzeku
Yeah that is definitely a concern. I would hope they wouldn't censor it but these days you never know. If Sony does pull the censorship nonsense again I will absolutely buy this elsewhere.
This is awesome, have it on PS3 but would love to be able to play it on modern hardware
Would be cool if they made it available on modern hardware. The game looks fun, and I'd be up for giving it a try.
my wife used to play this on the 360. i was too into f.e.a.r , gears and dead space to play this game.
i thought this game was silly lol
This game was criminally underrated at the time. Really fun premise and gameplay! I'd welcome this back!
@LN78 🤔 give that a look I shall
No way! This is awesome. I just recently asked my friend if I could borrow his PS3 so I could play this again.
The game was a lot of fun. Never beat it but the excessive use of the "Hey Mickey" song kidna drove me up the wall.
Think my edgy teenage self thought this was stupid back in the day. Did enjoy MGS Rising though, but my games needed to be really serious and meaningful.
I have a feeling these intentionally silly games would be much more enjoyable now, especially in this meme culture we grew up in.
@bindiana Yes please!! Remaster or just put it on the PS store at least!! Can't play it without a PS3 ;(
Would love a remaster and maybe followed by a sequel! It wasn't the best or longest game in the world but it made up for it in charm and it was just a fun game to play which in the end is what it's all about.
That would be great, I loved this game.
@Juanalf They should do what Sega did with Bayonetta/Vanquish and do a duo pack with Shadows of the Damned/Lollipop Chainsaw.
Yeah! I’m glad to hear that. The original title wasn't a brilliant action game , but it was fun to slash enemies.
I hope Shadows of the Damned will also be ported sooner or later by EA or any other company.
Please bring Shadows of the Damned back too!
This is one I never had the chance to play. The PS3 version is really difficult to find in my country.
Never had a chance to play it so yeah, bring it on!
Ahh, this has that embarrassing trophy that no one got, right? 🤣
the thumbnail makes me say yes .
i know about this game but never cared to buy it in the past…partially because i was a kid with no money
I played both this and Shadows Of The Damned on PS3 and found both novel but underwhelming, and towards the end of my platinum pursuit, downright tedious. Just my tastes I guess.....
Come on, Killer7 !!!
I have looked for a copy of this game for quite a while. But I refuse to pay the premium price that is asked for the title.
@LN78 I looked the other day and even pre-owned copies were selling for crazy prices.
Please be an expanded remaster! I miss this game so much.
Lollipop Chainsaw is no masterpiece, but was extremely fun to play. Definitely would love a remaster or new game.
I miss this game, would happily replay it.
Can’t wait as it’s often on the 50 greatest ps3 hits list and I never got to play it.
Nerd fact. Game was co produced by James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy fame.
@get2sammyb Even though some of the combat was a little slow to begin with, it all picked up and had some of my favourite NPCs and bosses of any game ever.
Plus the crazy, hallucinogenic farm level with combine harvester section was just wonderful fun.
@Thelegend159 He was also the scriptwriter.
No way this doesn't get censored, big time. Any PS fans looking for a Suda 51 game are better just getting No More Heroes 3 when that hits.
Leaving us in the lurch much?! Its a messed up occasion when we should assume its yet another re. Only for us to be proved wrong, can't wait ..?
I'd rather have a sequel, but will gladly take a remaster!
It could lead to a sequel being made if it sold well enough.
