You've lost count of how many times you've beaten Elden Ring, but while you want more of that sweet, punishing action, you also want to play something new. So, what do you do? Boot up the 2D Souls-like Moonscars, of course, releasing for PS5 and PS4 on 27th September 2022. A brand new trailer has been unveiled confirming the date, which also shows off its superb cel-shaded aesthetic.
Taking control of Grey Irma, it's your job to find the Sculptor and "unravel the mystery of her existence", according to the game's Steam page. There's then mention of its "unforgiving 2D linear world", lots of brutal challenges, and the general themes of desperation and despair. Maybe don't go into this one expecting some jolly tale of a knight rising above the darkness. "Mold yourself into a master warrior through a cycle of trial and triumph," it's explained.
Publisher Humble Games is starting to put together an interesting slate of titles for itself as we look towards the end of the year, with Signalis also being put out by the team in October as well as Midnight Fight Express. Moonscars is the very first game made by developer Black Mermaid, so it'll be interesting to see whether it lands or not.

That looks sick. Will have to wait to hear how it plays though.
looks like Blasphemous
Looks really cool..has a very blasphemous vibe to it which is no bad thing..cell shaded? More pixel art than cell shaded but still cool..
That looks amazing. If both this and the last faith actually release this year the fall is actually looking incredible right now with the AAA stuff coming out as well.
Niiiice. Is this the first mention of it being of PS4/5?
another one?...ok

Just play Mortal Shell Enhanced Edition, picked it up cheap and it is superb, for myself certainly and anyone else craving the original tightly knit, less is more, inherently mysterious soulsborne format, lacking in Elden Ring imo - this is the one! Also Blasphemous! Its on PS Extra too.
This has been on my Steam wishlist for a while, but props for making more people aware of it!
As said before looks a lot like Blasphemous, even some of the sound effects. That game was pretty decent.
that opening shot in the trailer... looks like times have been tough for Kratos
@JaphyRider you know what that means? New genre, blasphemous-like😆
This looks fantastic. I love these style of games.
This looks great! Those animations are really slick.
I have a massive void from Elden ring so I’ll be looking to this next month.
