9 Years of Shadows is an upcoming Metroidvania-style game from developer Halberd Studios, originally slated to come to PS4 on October 11, but has been delayed with a release date yet to be determined. In the meantime, we got an animated story trailer that includes a hefty dose of gameplay.
Featuring a gorgeous visual aesthetic, a soundtrack featuring industry heavyweights Michiru Yamane (Castlevania franchise) and Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid franchise), and tight gameplay, 9 Years of Shadows is definitely one to keep on your radar. Metroidvania fans have been spoiled of late, with the release of Ghost Song fast approaching and Afterimage hot on its heels.
What do you think of 9 Years of Shadows? Are we living through a Metroidvania renaissance? Let us know in the comments section below.

Been watching this for a while. Disappointed but understanding about the delay. I can’t wait for it!
Looks pretty good
The floating teddy bear companion reminds me of another metroidvania: Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus
I'm a really big fan of the metriodvania style of games..they are the ultimate go to games for me when taking a break from the usual big games or when times a bit tight..this looks pretty good and one to add to the list eventually..
this genre has been over milked by too many mediocre titles but this one looks promising...
Wow, that main armor design is right out of Saint Seiya!
Would say its the weakest looking of the recently announced metrovanias, but still decent.
This game looks like it was mermaid for me.
Looks gorgeous and the gameplay looks like a blast.
