Gotham Knights, the co-op themed superhero brawler from Warner Bros Montreal, has gone gold. For those not up to speed on industry lingo, gold status marks an important milestone in game development where the project is complete, and is prepared for manufacturing and publication on the PS Store.
While the release isn’t due out on PS5 until 25th October, it takes a bit of time to build up inventory and distribute it – especially in these post-pandemic times. Of course, it doesn’t mean the development team’s job is done: in this era of post-release patches, many studios will work right up until launch day ironing out bugs.
Still, it all means you can be confident there’ll be no delay, as the title is effectively finished. Will you be joining the Court of Owls? Cape up in the comments section below.

"it all means you can be confident there’ll be no delay, as the title is effectively finished." Never forget Cyberpunk did it after going Gold. 😁
Good for them though, the recent gameplay has looked better than earlier demos so I'm hopeful!
Like in "Gold Gold" or more in a Cyberpunk 2077 kinda "Gold"?
Just kidding! Hope it will come out good, I wasn't excited at first, but the game looks better than previosuly shown.
Dunno what it is about Gotham Knights, it's just not exciting me as much as I thought it would. Same thing with the Saints Row reboot. Like I'm not excited enough to grab them on release and I'm not really sure why even if it reviews really well. Weird
There is zero excitement in the air for this game I feel like it is going to bomb hard
Looking forward to it, though I do feel like there's going to be bugs day one...
Oh well, already have it pre-ordered.
Cool! I don't remember seeing a game go gold two months before release.
As someone who's completed the Arkham games over 15 times combined (including multiple completions of Riddler trophies), I really, REALLY want this to be good. Let's hope.
That's is nice for the development team who probably feel they been working forever on this game.
That said, game still looks unappealing to me, well get it on sale.
@Atreus97 R&C Rift in Time was ridiculously early no?
The more I watch, the less I like. I thought it was primarily a co-op multiplayer game at first, but I guess it's another open world story game, which I don't like. Enemies look spongy but combat looks decent, characters don't grab me at all, visuals are okay, it just looks dark and dingy and has this air to it. Much like the bad DC movies. Overall? Probably a good game that's going to shut a lot of people up but it really doesn't look that way so far, I'll judge when people get the previews.
@theMEGAniggle you don't Like story games..? Is all you play online only shooters and *****. That braindead mindless slog. Ugh I play those some but a good entertaining story is the pinnacle of gaming you literally missing out lmao
that’s good , they should all play the game relentlessly over and over so there won’t be any bugs & a repeat of origin- ay wait a minute , where’s ORIGINS REMASTER ??? is it ever happening ?!?!
Preorder already done. Although "Gone Gold" doesn't carry the same weight as a few years ago.
I mean Assassin's Creed games go "Gold" with ton of bugs at launch. Cyberpunk did go "Gold" before release 😅
But I'm confident this developer will bring something good.
Like everyone else I'm worried about this game, they need to put together a really good story trailer. As of right now I've just seen them fighting a couple of generic thugs, there's not even as many enemies on screen as previous games.
@SerJosh97 I don't like multiplayer shooters and "****" either but I don't think it's fair to call them mindless. Plenty of thought needs to be put in when playing games like that, if you shut off then you'll just be dying repeatedly to players that ARE using their brains against you.
That said, I think the disappointment comes more from the fact that open world games like this tend to be long and grindy and if the enemies have a lot of health it can become button mashy. In other words, it could turn into another Avengers game...but this time with Batman characters and if you didn't like the Avengers game then I can see the worry there. Ultimately though it remains to be seen how this will turn out, the Batman games have great combat so it could be fun but the question is for how long? You can't just make a Batman Arkham game and then slap four players in it, I hope they thought everything through well.
I played Avengers quite a bit. It was great at first. But then I did everything possible and it wasn't updated since. I hope this delivers better than that and I pray I can really enjoy this one. Love Batman stuff and it'll be great if they capture how strong the Court of Owls really is.
Wow! Congratulations on this feat. We're gonna be eating real good here shortly.
Good to hear! My son and I already have our copies pre-ordered so I'm looking forward to diving into this. First big game for me in what is going to be a VERY busy few months of game releases.
I just had to comment to say how good that tagline is, haha 👏
Really anticipating this One. October here we come. Right at the end ready for November too. Right on time to solve crime and spend time with family
I’m looking forward to this. I think it could be quite good, there is bits that I’m not sold on but I’m glad to just be back in the Arkham world
@theMEGAniggle
I just checked, that was a month before launch. This is 9/10 weeks before!
Never liked the Arkham games to be honest, but this one kinda looks more fun.
@Logonogo yea that's just not true, you're clearly not in very many communities. Because there is so much hype in DC gaming, DC mcfarlane collection, DC movies and TV fandom and LGBT gaymer community. To say no one is excited is called perception
@Korgon yea but slightly different than was smack bang in the middle of pandemic for 8 months before release they were remote accessing it from home. I don't think some of you appreciate how slow it is connected to work servers from home, even the best set up at 5 times slower. They developers are stuck between publisher yelling to get it finished and fans moaning about delays. This wasn't just cyberpunk it's been every game that came out over the Pandemic
@AndyP there might be some hype in niche communities but the overall hype level is very low across the gaming community as a whole. I hope the game is fun for you but I sincerely doubt the sales numbers will reflect the excitement you are perceiving
@AndyP
I think you responded to the wrong comment on accident or something as i never mentioned this topic but I do appreciate the difficulties switching from work in an office to remote work. We have seen a game delayed after going gold before so it's not a guarantee is all I was saying. I've never had problems with delays.
@SerJosh97what he actually said was he dosnt like "open world story games."
Well i'm really looking forwards to this..my winter is going to be a very busy one for gaming..this,mw2,god of war ragnarock and hogwarts when it arrives..happy days.
@SerJosh97 it’s just another open world game. I love story games lol. Comprehension is key
@Atreus97 wow you’re right this is really early! Maybe that delay wasn’t necessary
Thing is. I love all these new games, but i refuse to pay 79 euro's for it, eventough i have more then enough income, it is just against my oldschool gaming nature.
In mind, games are not justified to be this price. Some are, with huge openworlds gameplay more then 200 hours. I would gladly pay 100 euros for the next skyrim, But most games are not even reaching 20 hours, its insane they dare to ask this amount of money
I have a historical and relatively small collection for the time i own this console, normaly when i own a new console with 8 months i already would have like 9 games or so at least
Now i only have ff7 remake, Ratchet and Clank rift apart and demon's souls all second handed.
It kind off ruins the nexgen experience for me in comparisson to the past
@Logonogo Let hope not... WB doesn't really have much left going for them.
@Beerheadgamer82 Probably because they don't have the same appeal as original IPs. We've already seen Arkham at least four times, Saints Row four times alongside spinoffs, and it's mostly come to a point now where we've seen more or less all they have to offer. Not to mention the fact that SR peaked at 2, and Arkham with Arkham City (or Arkham Knight, for me personally).
Difficult to get excited about anything like that now that the idea of "new" is quite subjective.
@Mythologue I think you've just solved my weirdness I have with this release, so obvious in the end as too why. Its the same as we don't get excited for the latest Halloween or Terminator movies like we would when it was the first sequels. Halloween 5 whatever it's called or Terminator Dark Fate just doesn't have the same excitement behind it like it used too. Will no doubt eventually grab these games just not much excitement for it on the day
Most games won't do very well upon release nowadays due to the £70 price tags as most of us will wait for the sales.
This game I will wait till next summers sale as it really doesn't look that good. As for Saint's Row, I will get that in the summer sale in two years time for £3😂🤣
