First Contact Entertainment has announced it's developing a sequel to PSVR game Firewall Zero Hour. Called Firewall Ultra, it's being made exclusively for PSVR2 and will take advantage of every feature the headset has. A quick teaser trailer can be viewed above, which features a small glimpse at gameplay.
Running at a 4K resolution and using HDR, it'll have a 110-degree FOV, eye tracking, finger touch detection, foveated rendering, short load times, and support for the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Over on the PlayStation Blog, it's confirmed the sequel will run on dedicated servers and also include a separate PvE experience.
Many of the maps from the first game will be returning, but they've been touched up with new areas and textures. "There will also be new locations and contractors, but it wouldn’t be a Firewall game without the weaponry and equipment, which also feature a much deeper level of customization," said community manager Frank Marm. Firewall Ultra will then be supported after launch with new characters, maps, and weapons. Firewall Zero Hour was supported for an impressive 10 seasons, so the team clearly knows what it's doing in the live service department.
"Finally, we’d like to thank all our wonderful community members. From meetups to international tournaments, the community for Firewall Zero Hour far surpassed any of our expectations," Marm signed off saying. "For many, Firewall Zero Hour is much more than just a game. It’s a virtual family get together, it’s a place to make new friends, or it’s an escape to another world from the comfort of their own living room."
More gameplay will be shared soon. Are you excited by Firewall Ultra? Show your tactical side in the comments below.

So that's one of the 12 live service games.
All those random announcements make me starting to think that they dont have a Showcase planned for a while lol
@IonMagi if we do have one , I don't think it will be this week. Maybe they do a Spiderman trailer at the Disney event and at the end announce gameplay will be shown at a PlayStation event next week. But I don't really know anymore Sony has set the bar so low lately
Firewall was fantastic; for anyone who didn't play it it's ostensibly CS meets Rainbow Six. It was hampered somewhat by the technology so these enhancements are most welcome. Insta buy for sure!
PSVR2 is going to be phenomenal! Waiting for it has surpassed the anticipation of waiting for a new generation of consoles since consoles became multigenerational.
Looking forward to this. Might have to keep a Christmas wrapping paper tube to feel like I’m holding a gun, lol.
@Americansamurai1 Also cant be next week since TGS starts Thursday and Sony always had the Showcases on a Thursday
@IonMagi yeah who knows anymore with Sony. Last year's showcase was very disappointing except for the last 10 minutes so it feels like 2 years since we had a good event.
I didn’t think I can get much more hyped for PSVR2, but every new announcement proves me wrong. Haha.
It’s going to be amazing.
@IonMagi There's also Nintendo Direct in the mix, unless Nintendo chooses to do a Nintendo Direct on a Wednesday this time (the big ones in February and September are always Wednesday or Thursday) there'd be potential clashing of the events happening at the same time on the same day.
@Grumblevolcano Nintendo Direct is rumoured to be next Tuesday
@IonMagi I was just about to comment this idk what's going on with Jim Ryan and playstation, but they need to get it together even the marketing for Ragnarök been ass in my opinion.
@Doublecell Jimbo probably cut all the Showcases bc InflationTM lol. Way cheaper to just release some Blog Posts
I'm interested in this because i can play it without needing a plastic attachment that costs over £50 and will likely be collecting dust after a few months.
@IonMagi Sony probably having a showcase end of the month because there’s a lot of other shows this month negative magi .
@4kgk2 Spiderman 2 is rumoured to be shown at the Disney/Marvel Event this Friday. Surely Sony would keep this Banger for their Stream if they had anything planned
@IonMagi rumors are not always true if there were we would had a PlayStation show by now lol.
@4kgk2 No actual reliable leaker said anything about a PS Showcase tho lol. Even the Grubb and Tom Henderson said he knew nothing about a Showcase this month
Firewall is fantastic, but 3 big things need to happen.
1. Allow players to mute screaming brats and/or people with insane background noise. This destroyed the game for me.
2. Make PS5s easier to obtain.
3. Make PSVR2s easy to obtain.
First one was great with an Aim controller so I hope there will be some kind of gun stock available for the sense controllers as well.
Loved firewall! Just hope there’s not a trophy for 500 headshots In This one lol
@LP09 I suppose demand is still ridiculous on that front
@JB_Whiting for me this is a must firewall one was fantastic
Have to say this was the one psvr games that hit the spot completely. Playing with an aim controller and met some really interesting people too. Once you were in a squad with people you know it was something else.
@IonMagi If Spider-Man 2 does appear at the Disney and Marvel Showcase, it's pretty much confirmation we'd only be getting State of Play for the rest of the year (GoW Ragnarok State of Play, PSVR2 State of Play and probably one like June's State of Play where the big 1st party reveal is more PC ports).
The first game was really cool just wish it had a proper single player campaign because I'm not really that into multiplayer
If this game actually has good servers and more game modes, it'll be worth it
