Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has proven to be a success for developer Gearbox Software, with CEO Randy Pitchford declaring the title a "major victory", noting that the studio "clearly have a new franchise on their hands", with "future experiences already under development at Gearbox".
The comments were made during Embracer Group's annual general meeting, as transcribed by VGC. It was not specified what the nature of the "experiences" in development was, but the declaration of a new franchise would imply future entries in the series.
Pitchford also noted that “Wonderlands shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially", which is encouraging to hear. While we didn't especially love the title ourselves, noting that it felt like Borderlands 3 had simply donned a wizard's hat, the general consensus amongst critics was quite favourable.

I have been intrigued by it, but not enough to buy it at full price or a slight discount. I was hoping this would drop to 30 or 40% off by now. All I ever see is the deluxe edition on sale. From the gameplay I have watched I hope new iterations include more spells and melee options.
That's unfortunate. Game was very lackluster.

Translation: Great! We've found a formula we can repeat and chuck out a load of identi-kit sequels.
I think all the Borderlands games are pretty lacklustre. I only ever really enjoyed playing them with friends. Not played Wonderlands but can understand this. Through the drunken beery haze of co-op Tiny Tina did stand out from the other NPCs. And I'm sure she appeals to a certain kind of audience.
"Clearly have a new franchise"
Wonderlands clearly yet another Borderlands game with a different skin
@brazzios_84 base game was excellent. Dlc... was lackluster
@Elodin This is one I had my eye on as well. Then along came the trial on premium. Ended up glad I didn't buy it, even on sale. If you've played one Borderlands you've played them all at this point, and unfortunately this one is no different in that regard.
When I first started, I was 100% "what is this nonsense?" 😅
But the more I played the more I loved it. I actually liked this structure more than than the main series now.
@zupertramp
Actually the main thing it has in common is the gfx,
But there's actually alot different, weapon features, classes and having a 2nd class to mix up skills with, magic instead of grenades, humour is different, level structure completely different, end game content is done differently. But you played a 2 hour trial so you wouldn't know that
@Uromastryx Nah I played it for like 20 minutes. Pretty boring. Same old game, same tired graphics and stale humor, but with spells. Just my opinion.
I really, really enjoyed it. Borderlands 3 is one of my all time favourite games and Wonderlands just added to it.
@stueyd67 Me too. I don't understand the hate towards this game.
“i don’t understand the hate for this game”
means “ i want to keep ignoring why people hate this game “
I don't know what cool-aid they're drinking, but all my friends have hated Wonderlands.
