Perhaps unsurprisingly, the epic new trailer for God of War Ragnarok was the most viewed video coming out of this week’s State of Play. The three-minute taster of Santa Monica Studio’s latest and greatest has attracted 3.6 million views to date, putting it above Tekken 8 and Rise of the Ronin – both of which surpassed one million views as well.
As we’ve been compiling for a while, here are all the trailers ordered by total views from this week’s livestream. Please do keep in mind that we’re only taking into account PlayStation’s official uploads here, and obviously remember that the view counts are only accurate as of the time of publication:
- God of War Ragnarok: 3.6 million
- Tekken 8: 1.4 million
- Rise of the Ronin: 1.2 million
- Like a Dragon: Ishin: 440k
- Stellar Blade: 397k
- Hogwarts Legacy: 267k
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge: 165k
- Pacific Drive: 144k
- Synduality: 140k
- PS Stars: 81k
- Demeo: 74k
As for the State of Play livestream itself, it attracted around 1.3 million views, which is down on the 2.52 million views driven by the previous instalment. Of course, while the broadcast itself was very well received, many fans will be wondering whether Sony has a PS Showcase to follow it up with – it’s been over a year since the manufacturer hosted a full-scale broadcast, after all.
What was your favourite game from State of Play? And do you think it’s shown enough in this year’s various State of Plays to carry it through into 2023? Let us know in the comments section below.

Game looks great - even better then the first - can't wait to play it! This has GOTY written all over it!
This was definitely the best God of War trailer to date.
After Xbox tgs show Sony about to raise the price of the ps5 to 700$ in the uk lol😂. Back on topic god of war Ragnarok will probably win game of year.
I still can't believe we are actually getting Ishin localized no matter how many times I see it mentioned in articles. It seemed like it would never happen! So glad to be wrong!
Much less viewers this time..I'm not sure but was it mentioned somewhere that this would be a state of play with alot of psvr and small games, ?
But this was completely the opposite
Never thought I'd see a Like a Dragon trailer getting more views than a Hogwarts Legacy one, but here we are! Also, I'm happy to see Rise of the Ronin getting so much attention.
Stellar blade trailer should have more views but hey at least it have more views than bayonetta 3 latest trailer so I guess that’s a win.
It was great but I don't need to see any more. I was already sold on God of War as soon as it was announced, anything else is an unnecessary spoiler.
@4kgk2 if only we used $ here in the UK lol.
It'll be great. Shame it's ps4 but that's an argument been beaten to death at this point. They seem to have addressed most of the issues with the first (7th?) one
Tekken, though, Jesus Christ, that actually looks like a next gen experience, look at it! It makes me wonder how mk will look once it's sacked off the old console dead weight.
@hoffa007 I’m sorry 700£ You could of just converted the $ in my comment into £ yourself lol 😂.
I'm guessing I'm in the minority here but I'm just not excited for this game. It'll be good, I'm sure, but I know what to expect. I'll pick it up after a price drop.
GoW comes out the day before my boys birthday. Guess what he wants? 😁
.... Obviously I'll have to test it THOROUGHLY!.... Just to avoid any potential disappointment, you understand.
@4kgk2 at least it would have been less than $700 to buy in £
It looks good and I will probably get it but it looks more of the same which isn't bad. The trailer hype is a bit exaggerated, I'm sure there'll be actual wow moments in the actual game.
So much to be excited about here.
Kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.strikes again.defitnetly got my vote.word up son
Was there ever any doubt?
As for the State of play diminished view numbers: Sony can blame itself for not advertising it better. Leaving the main attraction unannounced is the main reason for that outcome.
@RBMango Like a Dragon Ishin was a full new game (remake) announcement trailer, Hogwarts Legacy was a PS exclusive mission trailer. Not apples to apples, but still mighty impressive. It's been great to see Yakuza's rise in the last few years. Hopefully it will lead to more Japanese Dev's localising their games.
@Ooccoo_Jr absolutely agree, how many trailers does a game or movie need!?
In some cases I my hype burns out by the time the game launches.
The Ragnarok trailer was impressive considering what had been shown previously for the game was kind of underwhelming.
It went from looking like a safe sequel (some even went as far as to say it looked like DLC), to looking like an epic adventure that’s going to wrap up the Norse mythology with style.
I’m not surprised that trailer is doing big numbers because even though I was always going to get it, that story trailer was the first time I felt genuinely hyped about what I saw in it.
