Update: Sony's main official channels have now confirmed the Sackboy: A Big Adventure PC port will be releasing worldwide on 27th October 2022. There's also a new trailer demonstrating some of the features mentioned down below.
Original story: It appears the Latin American PlayStation YouTube channel has jumped the gun a little with a new 30-second trailer confirming Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be ported to PC on 27th October 2022. It's the only region to confirm the version for the personal computer at the time of writing, but it's expected other territories will follow suit later today.
This is very much the real deal, though. The video confirms PC editions for Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a 4K resolution and 120 frames-per-second. There'll also be ultrawide 21:9 support, Nvidia DLSS usage, and a variable refresh rate.
The new release date means Sony will be busy next month in the PC space, with the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection releasing eight days before it on 19th October 2022. A Returnal PC port has also leaked time and time again, with the latest being a video of its in-game settings menu. That's yet to be officially announced, however. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is also swinging to PC in the future after the main game set new sales records for Sony in the mouse and keyboard market.
We awarded an 8/10 rating in our Sackboy: A Big Adventure PS5 review back during the system's launch. Praising its varied level design, soundtrack, and imaginative visuals, we concluded: "There’s a lot of love been poured into Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and thus it’s hard not to love it back. This is a brilliant platformer with tons of imaginative ideas and a strong sense of style."

Someone remind Sony they also still have a Console they are supposed to make Games for hehe
Here's hoping the game gets some much deserved love from PC gamers. It's a shame it didn't perform better on Ps4/5.
Didn't expect it to be so close to Uncharted. Honestly makes me wonder if Sony in the PC space may pull a Square Enix and release Miles Morales, Returnal and TLoU Part 1 in November.
Things are looking really good for Steam Deck owners, it's pretty much both a portable Xbox and a Vita 2.
Im not being sarcastic; it feels like PC gets way more action from Sony than the PS5 does. Other than the VR2, it feels like a majority of PlayStation news is PC focused.
@Grumblevolcano I have a Steamdeck and it’s pretty awesome.
PC master race
@OmegaStriver There are only so many big budget games they can make in a limited amount of time. It's not like they're releasing games on PC instead of ps5. These games have been available on ps5 for years now and they've stopped selling a long time ago (except for Miles Morales, of course).
@IonMagi You joke but.... Lot of truth is said in jest
Great game, always felt it didn't get it's fair shoot on PS5 during launch. If anything, I feel it would review better today.
I hope PC and deck owners give it some much deserved love.
@OmegaStriver The last State of Play had a lot of good console focused info.
I feel like this game could do well on PC with Twitch streamers. Hopefully. I never got in to it myself.
@IonMagi
They do. Ragnarok, Wolverine, Spiderman 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Factions 2.
Sony chasing that PC dollah lol
I’ll never forget the level when Britney’s Toxic started playing. I must have played it about 100 times - so good! 😁
Put it on ps plus extra 😉 then I'll play it.
Loving these Sony/PS PC Releases, keep em coming! playing these on Pc and Steam Deck is awesome
I do wonder if they’re also putting it on PS Plus. Other than the new Uncharted collection (which could end up there too), I think all the games with PC releases are on there.
Its great more people to get to experience PS5 games, but it would have been nice to get some more content for this game. Even a few more world's would be appreciated. Its a great little game!
@BritneyfR_ee now I need to play it!
Don't forget the Last of Us Part 1 - supposedly, this will be with us 'soon' too, although I doubt we'll see it until Spring 2023.
@IonMagi Uh how many major games have they released this year already? Not their fault most fell in the early half of the year. I know you're a cringy troll but you're grasping. Should replace Sony with MS in that sentence.
My 3080 Ti is ready. I'm glad that I've been holding off on purchasing it for PS
So just in 2022 for PC we have firm releases for:
God of War
Marvel's Spider-Man
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
And already announced/leaked for PC:
The Last of Us Part I
Returnal
And these are just the ports for one year; the gap is getting smaller and smaller.
Meanwhile not a single new first party PS5-only game has been announced in all of 2022.
How can anyone honestly feel that PS5 is still the main focus at PlayStation? Even key PlayStation employees like Shuhei Yoshida and Cory Barlog are constantly posting images of their SteamDeck on social media. I can't think of any other business that would allow their public figureheads to repeatedly undermine the product they're selling by promoting a direct rival like this.
@Yupyupyup well when did they release a new, actual current Gen Game thats issnt a downgraded Cross-Gen release? Last year in June. So we will probably go 2 years without a new PS5 Game lmao. Good Job Jimbo
@truerbluer Since Sony doesnt have much planned after God of War a new PS5 only Game will probably not release before Summer 2023...so 2 years after the last one. Thats unheard of in the Gaming Business to treat your Flagship console like that
I'm more excited for this than anything aside from Uncharted this winter. It's Super Mario 3d World with 90% more joy! No idea why it didn't sell well but I'm very happy about this. Gonna save some space on Internal for my Steamdeck.
@truerbluer I swear they are treating the Steamdeck like they're own personal Vita. Just picked up Kena on Steam and I may grab Sifu from Epic store. The Steamdeck is a portable PS5. Just gimme Ghost, Ratchet PS5, Bloodborne...ok nvm, just give me all the exclusives. Just make sure a Team Ico compilation is included. You also forgot FF7 Int. Every damn one is Verified too.
@IonMagi This game is already on PS5.
First Sony PC game I'll buy because I haven't already played it on ps4.
@truerbluer I don't think the steam deck is a direct rival. I've yet to hear anyone contemplating buying a ps5 or a steam deck.
@IonMagi you don't spell xbox like that
@IonMagi I sold my PS5 and with some save I had I bought my first gaming PC. The best choice I've made in years. I don't see any point anymore in buying a console. Steam Deck + PC is the way to go.
@truerbluer I can't wait to see Demon's Souls, Last Guardian, and Shadow of the Colossus on PC!
@UltimateOtaku91 Doesnt make Sonys lack of PS5 Support better
@IonMagi
"Thats unheard of in the Gaming Business to treat your Flagship console like that"
Xbox?
I honestly didn't like this game but it's good to see that it's coming to more audiences
@IonMagi which console are you playing that has more first party AAA next gen games than ps5?
Switch is a ps3.5 (generous) so Nintendo havent counted since the gamecube.
Xbox? Lol
You're not making any sense...
@TheTony316 Xbox has a busy line-up for early next year till Summer after 2022. Sony hasnt anything fix sheduled after GoW R
@Loftimus I mean I dont remember Sony making any PS3 Games after the PS4 released lol. The PS5 is soon 2 years old and SIE released...3 new PS5 only Games and probably not another one until Summer next year. Pretty pathetic (and only 1 more than MS).
@IonMagi sony have put out more next (current) gen exclusives than xbox so far.
@IonMagi but the ps4 wasn't backwards compatible, otherwise they would of. Also in terms of upgrades the ps4 was massive over the ps3, but this new gen so far hasn't been that much difference over the ps4 apart from the odd ray tracing and faster load times. That's the main focus of the ps5/series X, more power for things that make games more seamless like open worlds that require no loading times.
@UltimateOtaku91 Well if they keep making Cross-Gen Games we really wont see much improvements in terms of Design and Graphics. Look at how incredible the current-Gen only Death Space Remake looks
@UltimateOtaku91 Only 1 more tho. So its nothing to brag about.
Sony: DeS Remake, Returnal, R&C RA
MS: MS Flight Simulator and Deadloop
@IonMagi How are the games downgraded? This isn't ps1 anymore where next generations actually had a major difference. Forbidden West looks better than any other game released so far and its multi gen. Elden Ring must be terrible since its also on last gen right? Hilarious how you defend MS who has gone the entire year without a major first party release. 2023 Ps5 has tons of exclusive games like Spiderman 2. FF16, Forspoken, and plenty more. Lol you really mentioning deathloop as a MS game? It was already mostly complete before MS even bought Bethesda.
@Yupyupyup God of War Ragnarok will still have "hidden loading tunnels" bc of the PS4 Version, Horizon Forbidden West looked pretty bad at launch in Resolution Mode and it took months to Patch it up and GT7 issnt that impressive either besides Car Models. Demons Souls Remake and R&C on the other hand look stunning, even in FPS Mode.
@IonMagi
Sure. I've been hearing about this "busy" Xbox line up since 2014.
Xbox hasn't released anything worthwhile that isn't a Forza game in years. Hell, the Series consoles launched without first party games. It's true that the PS5 only has a couple of current gen exclusives right now but unlike Xbox, Playstation actually releases games in a timely manner.
How can you seriously criticise Playstation and defend Xbox in this? lmao.
@IonMagi playstation has Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Returnal, ratchet and clank, Demon souls remake, uncharted collection, TLOU remake, astro playroom, destruction all stars and forspoken in January.
Xbox has had flight simulator and only just got Deathloop
@IonMagi Lmao you don't even know what you're talking about. It was performance mode that had some graphical oddities. Games will always have loading times. You dont know even the slightest bit about game development. You just have to say something negative and you grasp so hard. Its embarrassing.
@UltimateOtaku91 I wrote actual new PS5 Games made by Sony, not "Remakes" or 3rd Party Deals. After that you are left with the 3 Games I named.
@IonMagi well xbox didn't make flight simulator, team asobo did and they are third party....
And Deathloop was done before their acquisition.
So in two years Microsoft haven't released a current gen game themselves.
Sony hasn't released a AAA first party PS5 game since 2021, yet has 6 live service games lined up until 2026. This doesn't bode well for console for console users just putting it out there. Their productivity has dropped significantly.
@Play You realize GT and Horizon both came out earlier this year right? Then GoW next month. Do you even think before you post? When has MS even released two AAA games in a year nevermind 3.
@Yupyupyup Should I have said next gen only games? I don't count cross play games for a next gen system.
@Play Keep moving the goal posts. Because Deathloop is just so amazing being next generation only while Elden Ring is just trash being multi gen. Even RE4 is multi gen and looks fantastic.
@IonMagi all ms games are cross gen mate.
@Dr_Luigi Psychonaughts is not AAA and Flight Sim is a port of a game from 2021. Halo is a dumpster fire too. And judging from the people in this thread apparently none of those count because they're last gen as well. Why even add Deathloop when MS had nothing to do with it and it launched as a Sony exclusive lol?
Back on topic, I hope the next sackboy game goes back to its original roots and brings back the level editing and side scrolling gameplay. Or I might be the only one but I wouldnt mind them doing another little big planet karting game.
This says SteamDeck all over it.
Sony really should make a promotion with Valve. Just like they are doing with SiperMan and Nvidia.
"VITA2" is getting tons of Sony support this time around 😉
@Yupyupyup I tell you it's so silly how people think a game on PS4 isn't making the PS5 version reach its potential, yeah because so far R&C, Deathloop, Returnal are never before seen level of amazing! 🙄 Meanwhile crossgen HFW looks better than those PS5 exclusives so far. 😏
@Play what does ps6 have to do with anything?
@truerbluer “Meanwhile not a single new first party PS5-only game has been announced in all of 2022”
Actually they announced Rise of the Ronin just recently. Clearly their 2023/4 games are still under wraps though, that’s generally a show of strength. Announcing games like Perfect Dark, Fable, Avowed, Hellblade 2 years before release is a sign of weakness.
Thanks Jimmy pal now moving forward release everything same date like we all know you will eventually do and I'll even invite you to my dog's house and offer you a nice cup of coffee or tea (not sure which one he prefers!).
@ChrisDeku Team Ninja isn't first-party and I'm pretty sure that game is only "console exclusive" anyway so will end up on PC sooner than later like Nioh did.
@truerbluer The game is published by Sony, and assisted by Xdev Tokyo.
If thats not a first party game then neither is Bloodborne, Demon Souls, Pokémon, Super Smash brothers, Metroid Dread etc. etc.
@ChrisDeku First party specifically refers to studios owned by the platform holder. Those games you listed are properties owned by the platform holder but not developed by an internal studio i.e. second party.
@truerbluer Well in that case Sackboy isn't 1st party either (developed by now Tencent-owned Sumo Digital) and this whole argument about another 1st part game going to PC is invalid anyway
@truerbluer there's no second party, that's just a casual term.
Rise of the Ronin is Published by Sony, its a first party game.
Might download it from the 7 seas to try it lol
Does this mean that the PS5 version might finally drop in price?
@UltimateOtaku91 The only games either console has put out so far are just prettied up games that were designed last generation given the avg dev time for modern titles GOW looks to fall in that category too this will change in 2023 then you can say next gen game with some truth behind it.
Great news for my PC friends, hope they have fun with the game!
