Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was fully released on Friday, and we have been having an absolute blast this weekend past partying up like it was 2007, with the experience being relatively smooth... shockingly so, when compared to the launch of contemporaries like Battlefield 2042.
However, one particularly galling bug has reared its head, and you could be forgiven for thinking that players that seem to know exactly where you are at all times might be using some kind of wallhack. Some players definitely can see you through walls, but it's the result of a glitch, not the work of cheaters.
As you can see in the clip above, posted by Redditor zFSStatic, players that have been killed were able to ping an enemy during the death screen, and this ping would subsequently last for the rest of the match, allowing the player to be tracked even through solid objects.
As reported by Eurogamer, the ping system itself seems to have been quietly disabled over the course of the weekend, which is probably a necessary evil, but certainly makes it harder to coordinate with one's squadmates in the heat of battle. There is no word on a fix yet, but it seems like Infinity Ward is aware of the issue, and hopefully, a patch is incoming.
Did you fall prey to this wallhack glitch? Do you assume (like us) that every unwarranted death must have been the work of rotten, no-good cheaters? Come up with excuses in the comments section below.

A what a game a 70mb lauch disc, bugged and also these bugs in multiplayer. Do they even test their games what a joke.
I cant remember a time when call of duty ever released without problems online..it used to be a standing joke that everytime a cod game released it was a case of blast through the campaign for a week or 2 then jump online after the spawn points and lobbies were fixed..why should this years entry be any different 🤣
@Northern_munkey I mean when hasn't a game with online released without issues? Not defending COD here but there hasn't been a game where I'm not wondering, "Did the devs playtest their own game?"
@Nepp67 Destiny worked perfectly when it was first released. Remember it well because I was in a very active clan that I'd joined 6 months before it launched.
@riceNpea you forget the cave glitch/farming area?
@MrGilly69 😄 that shows just how good Destiny was at launch that you've got to use the Loot Cave as the example to give of its worst issue. of course I remember it, it was hilarious
in what way was that a problem? It didn't affect gameplay or stop people playing the game. You're comparing apples to oranges. We're talking about game-breaking bugs, it's impossible to expect any complex online game to be 100% bug-free at launch or at any time in its existence. It wasn't happening at launch so again it's not like the COD issue here. Plus It wasn't the result of a game mechanic you could call upon going wrong messing up your experience. And removing the loot cave had zero consequences to the game. It was an expoilt that was around for a few days and all it did was give out a few high value engrams. And it was so funny to see everyone on the server joining together to shot into a cave 😆
I put over 1000 hours into Destiny in the first 6 months it was out. It was the best online launch I've ever seen take my word for it.
No idea what pinging is lol
@Nepp67 it does make you wonder..
@pushsquare you need a weekend reporter. always days late to weekend news
@stvevan Thanks for the feedback. We know weekend coverage could be better, so it's something I'd actively like to improve. That said, I'd argue we're normally pretty decent with it, we just have a big project on at the moment that's taking up a lot of our team's time.
@get2sammyb you guys deserve your days off. plus weekends are generally quiet news wise. just sometimes you end up with 'old' news.
