Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's release is imminent, set to launch on 28th October, and the hype machine has begun to spin up. We have had a bevvy of trailers in recent days, some of them better than others. Our latest, though, is a doozy, featuring a smattering of celebrities singing the new gamer anthem, set to a remixed military marching song.
Featuring the likes of Nicki Minaj, Pete Davidson and Lil Baby, the trailer contains zero gameplay and instead switches between various groups bopping along to the beat and singing Call of Duty's praises. The comments below the video are more entertaining, but the general sentiment is that this one is, as the kids say, something of an "L".
What do you think of Modern Warfare 2's latest trailer? Are you excited about the game, at least? Squad up in the comments section below.

Part with Lando is my favourite part . Didn´t expect him in such an ad.
Is it possible to unhear something?
The sooner this rubbish becomes an Xbox exclusive the better tbh
Celebrities… where? I didn’t recognise anyone.
Either this is an abuse of the word celebrity, or I have reached that age where I don't know who is trendy right now.
@GeneticMutation @IMustardMitt no abuse at all mates.
Nicki Minaj, Pete Davidson, Lil Baby, Kane Brown, Bukayo Saka, Lando Norris, Jalen Ramsey, David Long Jr., Faze Clan's Nuke Squad
If you know noone of these people you reached the age as a fact... but I am 40 and recignized at least 5 of them so... you are gaming too much

@Matroska caution... that could be taken as racism... I know you are kidding but be honest you know him right, right?
I recognised Saka because Football. The rest? No idea.
This could be the most cringe marketing I’ve seen in a while. Whoever gave the green light for this needs a sit down
@ORO_ERICIUS I'm decently younger than you, only spend a moderate amount of time gaming each day, try to keep abreast of what's happening in the world, and still don't recognize a single name in that list. Not even through cultural osmosis.
Welcome to the times where generic nursery rhymers that never really developed beyond creche are megrich household names. Its not even a case of keeping up; but doing well to avoid if you know who they are you have lost the game
@Ralizah watching football you have one... watching formula 1 you have another... listening to black music you have almost the rest... so what?
wasn’t cringe at all .
@mrtennis1990
Call of Duty has always been marketed like this.
While I like COD (and I have MW2 preordered) I’ve always hated this style of marketing.
Niki Minaj is a real life example of a joke character. No one should take her seriously.
@Ralizah
Only ones I know of is Minaj and Pete Davidson.
In the case of Minaj I only know of her because my ex girlfriend was a fan of trap music and played it in my car while we were going out to eat one night. I felt despair so terrible at hearing her rapping that I considered jumping out of my own car at 70 miles per hour.
Pete Davidson I only know because of the Kanye-Kim controversy.
@GeneticMutation There's Lando Norris the Formula 1 driver and Minaj. That's the only people I could recognize.

@ORO_ERICIUS I don't watch sports or listen to hip hop (I presume this is what's meant by "black music"), so there you go!
My point is that these people aren't universally famous enough that everyone with some tenuous awareness of the outside world is going to know them.
@ORO_ERICIUS Clearly an ad aimed at teens and 20-somethings
@OrtadragoonX OK, so Pete is the guy dating Kim Kardashian now, I guess.
Kanye and his ex-wife are two people who make me wish my understanding of modern pop culture was more tenuous than it currently is.
I did about as well on recognising these celebs as I do on the Pushsquare Playstation trivia quizzes haha
This commercial deserves the depth it has so……………🤣🤣🤣🙄🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤣🤣🤣🤣🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
You know my bubble is real when you only recognize an F1 driver (Lando) and a comedian from SNL (Pete Davidson)
Not sure most in the States care about F1 or SNL
I did like the older version of this concept. Reassemble!... Where people went out to find their old squad mates.
@ORO_ERICIUS
Thanks for the cheat sheet 😅
I recognise everyone there but I still want to claw my eyes and ears out.
@nessisonett
After watching that ad I considered walking into traffic right beside my place of work.
I saw this ad for the first time last night and thought to myself, "I get the feeling that I'm supposed to be recognizing some of these people." Pete Davidson is the only one I could name.
Lando and Saka, the only ones there with skills.
Nothing makes me want to spend £70 on the game more than seeing a bunch of wealthy celebrities being paid large sums of cash to promote it lol
@ORO_ERICIUS I'm 27 & only heard of Nicki Minaj maybe because I'm not an American ? Lol
@ORO_ERICIUS please explain in very specific detail how you considered that to be racist. It’s interesting your subconscious takes you right to racism…
@Hessianmeistsr he called Bukayo Saka an alien from star wars... sorry for misunderstanding. I live in germany and here we are not allowed to say black people or black music anymore... its strange because when you are called white and are not allowed to say Black. Dont know how to explain it better. There are many words that arent allowed to say anymore because of equality reasons. Is this enough explanation for you mate?
@ORO_ERICIUS black music 💀
@Lolcat yes you are right. Misspelled that sry. I love that music btw
