God of War Ragnarok's release is just over a couple of weeks away now, and although we're sure that a lot of you would prefer a proper State of Play showing, Sony is at least giving us a series of developer-based videos. The latest of these has a strong focus on combat and enemy design, and features a lot of gameplay clips that should give you a taste of the title's action.
It's especially interesting to hear the team at Santa Monica Studio talk about their approach to battle. Combat has obviously always been a major part of the franchise, and Ragnarok promises to expand upon an already fantastic system that was introduced in God of War (2018). Needless to say, it all looks very promising.
What are you hoping to see from Ragnarok's expanded combat system? Remember to recall your axe in the comments section below.

The wait is almost over! 😊
There has always been a certain special something to God of War’s combat animation to me. One of the things that attracted me to the series from day. I’m glad to see it remain a focus for the team. Can’t wait to face all of these new enemies!
I need a long weekend at home to platinum this
Looks like more GOW lol, still it will be hopefully fun and interesting to see the story through. This poor PS5 does wonder when we are going to see Sony and its studios start developing FOR the PS5 though
Yah that's my GF she's totally working on this
Honestly, what’s with the lack of showcases?!
Can we have more Grace Chan please? I’m not a fan of simps but… I think I’ve just become one.
@itsfoz They probably monitor the amount of views they get online. A showcase may only get a million hits in a week, whereas these short videos probably get more on Youtube and social as they trend. Plus it's a lot cheaper and saves time in creating these short videos.
Just give me the game
This games looking so damn good I really can't wait to play it !
@GeneticMutation it's grace pan lol , yeah all those women were gorgeous that sabra looks alot like Freya wonder if they used her face for the character
I love how much they talk about weight and power. God of War was so visceral and meaty, every blow was felt. I love it.
It's the polar opposite of many games that have floaty combat, with no connection, that feels like you are flailing around with a wet noodle.
Even the thwump and small camera shake every time you recalled the axe never tired. That's talent. Top job SSM.
