Overwatch 2 has been plagued with issues ever since it launched, facing DDoS attacks, controversial phone number requirements, having to pull several heroes due to bugs, and the removal of aim assist on console, but the turbulent waters seem to be calming. And despite it all, the free-to-play shooter appears to be a monumental success, attracting more than 25 million players in its first 10 days alone.
It's especially impressive when you consider that 25 million players represent nearly three times as many players as the original Overwatch had at its peak. If you build it, the gamers will come, as the old adage goes.
Blizzard seems pretty chuffed, too, despite everything, and notes that they are happy with the current results they are seeing in-game, in terms of balancing. Expect to see changes in the future, but at least for the next month, there will be no major buffs or nerfs to the game's current roster of playable characters. Double XP weekends are coming as well to soothe those of us burned by long queue times and crashes.
Has your Overwatch 2 experience improved in recent days? What do you think of that 25 million player milestone? Is that more or less than you would have expected? Launch yourself heedlessly into the fray in the comments section below.

I played OW on pc until about 2 years ago. Just played a few competitive matches on PS5, and it was definitely fun. Going to 5v5 lost something big though (besides a player a team). Losing a player on each team may make games faster, but you're losing offensive and defensive strategy, so winning doesn't feel as satisfying. The "oh *****" moments of players popping ultimates at the right time together is even harder to find than it was before. That was the coolest part of the game to me, and it feels like that's been taken away.
but overwatch is dead !
Is Overwatch still worth playing these days?
Yeah, hadn't played since around 2018 and jumped back in big time now. The fact that it's free to play and cross progression as well helps big time, means I can jump between PC and PS5 whenever I feel like it without any hassle.
It's definitely a lot of fun and the change to 5v5 makes it more fast paced but some characters need nerfing. Total mayhem is my favorite mode but Zarya being able to constantly have an infinite shield brings a fast paced game to a standstill all she has to do is stand in the capture point or on the target vehicle and spam shield. The only ways to move her are with reindharts dash or winstons ult.
Not surprising given its move to free to play.
I downloaded it over the weekend, but when I went to play it it asked for my phone number - I thought they ditched this? Sorry but I’m not giving out my phone number to play a bloody game!
Only true problem I had with this game was the servers which was fixed like a week ago,and that some of the skins are too expensive. Otherwise I’ve been playing this non stop like 2016 again.
@Foram it’s free , you find out
