Sony appears to have made a change to its PS Plus service, making it no longer possible to view the exact date a game will be removed from the service. The Last Chance to Play tab is still part of the home page — viewed by scrolling down a fair bit on PS5 — but buttoning through to the games there no longer displays an expiry date. This was a feature we highlighted when the membership was revamped back in June, although now it's seemingly nowhere near as useful.
At the moment, Rez Infinite on PS4 is part of the Last Chance to Play section. However, if you click through to where you can download the game, there's no expiry date listed. This means there's no way of knowing how much time you have left to play the title — it could still stick around for a few weeks or be gone by tomorrow. We simply don't know anymore.
It's also worth noting Sony doesn't detail upcoming expiry dates in its monthly PlayStation Blog posts either. While PS Plus Essential games are always available for roughly one month, the length of time something is part of PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium is entirely up in the air. You lose access to those titles on the two more expensive tiers once they leave the membership too; it's not like PS Plus Essential where you can keep playing.
Another example is GTA: Vice City Definitive Edition. As pointed out by Twitter account PS Play, the Japanese PS Blog said the remaster will leave the service on 20th February 2023. But if you take a look at the game's listing on the PS5 console, that expiry date is nowhere to be seen.
Therefore, unless Sony begins to highlight expiry dates itself in PS Blog posts — and as long as this isn't just a glitch the platform holder gets around to fixing — then there's no longer a way to tell how long games are staying on PS Plus for. If there's a game you've been dying to play but you fear it could leave the service, it might be best to get on it sooner rather than later.
Thank you to user B-I-G DEVIL / Twitter profile PS Play for the tip!

Hopefully this is just an oversight, otherwise it’s a stupid move. At least GamePass gives you plenty of warning when and which games are leaving, and the info is usually easy to find - there’s sporadically a tile on the Home Screen saying “games leaving soon”.
Ah the good old days of transparency are fast disappearing.
Out of interest, what does Xbox do with game pass as i have friends who have een taken by surprise when games have left the service.
You'd expect Sony to at least communicate 30 days notice on the blog if a game is being removed.
Perhaps the expiry date has been removed from the store page as Sony will continue to be in negotiation with partners to extend licences and it avoids potential issues on the server side?
@Rob_230 Microsoft lists all the games leaving Game Pass in the next two weeks at the end of the bi-weekly update posts it does.
This why I'll probably never sign for anything more than the basic ps+ games usually change every 3/4 months. Unless Sony is in the middle of changing things but in the last few years Sony hasn't been transparent since Jim Ryan took over sk its not unsurprising.
@LiamCroft
This Gamepass way was always an annoyance as many games just can’t be finished in 2 weeks if you have any type of life. Always preferred Sony’s method of putting the precise expiry date on when the game enters the service. Hopefully this isn’t being changed and this is just a glitch.
@Nightcrawler71 I would argue that even GamePass is giving you notice too late. Usually you have notice 2 weeks before game will leave GP. I would prefer at least 1 month notice.
@LiamCroft ahh thanks - so surely it makes sense for Sony to do the same when they announce what's coming to extra (and ignores the fact premium exists) each month on the blog post then.
Obviously no good if you'd been wanting to get stuck into a game like Red Dead Redemption though
Never been sold on the idea of subscription gaming. Here's another reason why.
Probably not a bug though I do hope it is. One of the few legs up it has on gamepass, or had now 🥲
Sony did that with Evil Genius 2 right at the launch of PS Plus Extra. It was there for like 3 days and then just vanished. Really annoying to not know if you have enough time to finish a game or not.
@Dr_Luigi yeh if it isn't a glitch Sony needs to get rid of Jim ryan and the ppl who come up with these stupid ideas that will just annoy the consumer
Sony just begging to piss off all of us, with his latest decisions. It is time Sony to wake up and understand without US "the customers" they are nothing.
people jumping on bandwagon, lets see if its a mistake before grabbing the pitchforks
@LiamCroft They do yes but they don't actually tell you what day exactly like PlayStation did.
This makes Sony’s subscription less appealing to me. I’ve had Plus for years and now have the top tier after picking up a cheap PS Now deal last year.
I’m finding I don’t really play multiplayer anymore - to get any semblance of enjoyment out of most multiplayer games requires time and dedication, so I’ll just stick with single player games in the future.
If I can’t even see when a free game is going to expire, then what’s the point playing it? With limited time for games, I could plan to start a game, or start a game, only for it to disappear from the service.
With such a hefty backlog, I really don’t need the PS Plus offerings anymore. There are far too many subscription services nowadays and gaming subs are the only ones I have, which I plan to cut out once they expire.
Perhaps there should be a shift back to ownership, not leasing.
It should be fully up front upon release on the service. It would really help people parse what games they interact with and when.
To be fair, most games didn't have an expiry date anyway. And we all kind of expected some of these games to have 1 year + deals to be on the service. All the ones I have played and downloaded from the beginning didn't have expiry dates, but something like Red Dead Redemption 2 always did (leftover from the old service contracts) So maybe this is the signs of a first part of an update where they will include every games expiry date. But it's meant some dates have been removed in the mean time, the ones that had their deals for the old iteration.
The games with 1 year deals (which there must have been a few, right?) after November would be 6 months from being up, right? (Service Launched in June) But no game like that ever had an expiry anyway, so it's still guess work to which games could have been year deals. Maybe we find out soon which of the launch games will leave in the next year, and which will be more long term? Maybe not...
At least they should warn us about a game leaving a MONTH in advance! not two days before
@Rob_230 Sony has placed a 75 year embargo on dates and they'll be out along with Pfizer's vaccine data.
An outstanding step in the wrong direction.
The lack of expiration dates is one of my major hang-ups about GP. This is actively making the service worse for players.
If this was intended then 🤡
For anyone with Linkedin accounts, I suggest voicing this concern with Adam Michel (Ops Director for PS Subscriptions) https://www.linkedin.com/in/adampmichel/?originalSubdomain=uk
My only real complaint about Game Pass is that, while it indeed lets you know what is leaving a few weeks in advance, does not tell you when a game is expected to leave when it is placed on the service. Most are there for roughly ay year, and that is what I always assume when planning what to play when. But there have been some that leave earlier, and some that leave a lot later. I always thought it was much better to let players know when a game is expected to depart from the beginning. If there is a nice surprise and a game is extended past the original time, great.
Now it appears PlayStation is going the same route (unless this is a bug), which is not a huge deal but still a shame. Letting everyone know when games are expected to leave up front is more consumer friendly.
God forbid the consumer wants to plan, wouldn’t want the company to commit to what they are selling you.
They are probably going to start announcing which ones are leaving monthly along with that months additions.
Sony's communication with it's customers is so bad that we have to have news articles saying "Sony don't tell us much, now they're telling us even less". I wonder how hard they can lean on fans before they start to revolt because every little thing like this, added to the big things, makes them look like they don't give a damn about user experience.
Not knowing what you're paying for, that's excellent customer service. This is probably not an insidious decision just more incompetence. If you're signing up because fancy a certain game or you're already signed up and just about to start a game then you should absolutely know the date it's going to disappear. Useless half baked mess.
Wasn't Rez Infinite on PS+ Essential a few months ago? Maybe that's why there's no expiring date, because the user already redeemed it "for life".
Don't games leave on the monthly refresh date???
@Mince
You seem to be reading incorrectly. I said:
“ Always preferred Sony’s method of putting the precise expiry date on when the game enters the service. Hopefully this isn’t being changed and this is just a glitch.”
The point of the article is that the dates are just recently not showing, but they were always there in the past.
Just bought a 2nd hand Series X today, my first ever green machine, feeling rather dissillusioned with Sony this Gen, and things like this dont help, so im open minded to what the other side is offering up.
This is just ridiculous. If you are in the last hour to complete a game and it is removed....
We say we want more of a heads up when games are leaving and Sony goes ahead and completely removes the heads up entirely. I don't get it...
Along with this news is still the lack, I can not find it, of a simple way to few the lists of only Extra games and only Premium games.
Also in game trials Dying Light 2 is not listed with trial games and is only found by doing a search of game trials, or on the list of all games. So I would not even know about the trial had I not seen it mentioned on Pushsquare or I am looking to purchase DL2 from the catalogue and find a trial available🤓
@stvevan aw man , but seeing comments roasting sony is entertaining
@riceNpea
Don't think we need to know your vaccine views
Might just be a mistake. Let’s hope so, it’s really handy to know. Much better than the ‘surprise, guess what’s gone in two weeks!’ approach Game Pass takes.
@NoCode23 Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried going to the PS Plus section directly on your console? At my PS5 both lists are seperated.
@Steve30000 to be fair I haven't missed seeing any of their views since I added them to my ignore list a while back
@Steve30000 what view is that then? I joked Sony put an embargo on dates in similar fashion as Pfizer and their data. What view did I give you about the vaccine that led you to preach to me about what I should and shouldn't do?
@Rob_230
Ah the good old days of transparency are fast disappearing. 🥁tsh
@riceNpea
It's not even relevant, what's it got to do with this thread? On ignore you go..
@Darude84, thanks. I have Premium so I have them all. My issue was it seemed difficult when deciding between Extra and Premium 2 months ago. Also Dying Light 2 is now, after some delay, viewable when selecting the list of game trials.

@PaperAlien I don't understand ppl like you. No matter what Sony does your still getting God of War and spiderman and many other GREAT EXCLUSIVES that make Sony great, yall always say after every little pitchfork move " getting an Xbox done with Sony blah blah. You do you but your the one whose gonna regret it. Still no first party next Gen only games from Xbox for 2 plus years now as halo infinite is last Gen too, and don't expect any Bethesda or blizzard game soon made purely for series x. I feel bad for all series x owners. Still don't have 1 single next Gen exclusive unlike Sony which has demon souks, ratchet and clank rift apart, deathloop, returnal, ghostwire, and other next Gen only games
@PaperAlien my series s collects dust until we get some real games over on xbox. Rn it's only used to play cross play on fortnite with my fiance lol sad times for Xbox fans.

@riceNpea ignore them. They clearly don't understand what a joke is lmao, I got you tho some of these ppl are just plain ignorant on this site
Removed - flaming/arguing; user is banned
Well this isn't a terribly shady and bad practice at all...they better bring back the expiry dates or else!
@SerJosh97 Chill down mr... also stop assuming everyone is interested in all the 1st party games? Ive got no interest in Ragnarok and there will be lots of others feeling the same. So far its only been Returnal and Ratchet and Clank thats appealed. Super glad you've been loving everything so far, some of us havent and thats OK too
@SerJosh97 was that supposed to make me feel bad, or you just trying to get some attention in you boring life?? 😴😴😴
Removed - flaming/arguing; user is banned
@SerJosh97 as I said earlier you just beg for attention, I do not care about your live, wife, son or whatever you want to call it, as far I can see your comments are just to couse arguments, and obviously most of them deleted and reported.
