Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 generated nearly $1 billion in its opening weekend on the market, setting a new record for the FPS series. Therefore, it was only ever going to claim one spot in the monthly PS Store sales charts: first place. The latest shooter from Infinity Ward was the best-selling PS5 game in both the USA and Europe. It could almost say the same on PS4; FIFA 23 just beat it for the month of October in Europe.
Modern Warfare 2 will likely stay in the list of the top 20 best-selling digital games on the PS Store for some time now, just like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguard before it. And with rumours there won't be a new Call of Duty title next year as Infinity Ward readies another year of post-launch content, this could be the main Activision product for some time now.
Other new releases for last month include Gotham Knights, which was the second best-selling PS5 game in the USA and the third in Europe. A Plague Tale: Requiem was the seventh most-bought digital PS5 title in Europe, but only the tenth in the USA. Star Ocean: The Divine Force also crops up in 13th in the USA.
Overwatch 2 also launched last month, and it topped the free-to-play list across the USA and Europe, beating out Fortnite and The Sims 4 as it dropped its price tag. Best-selling PSVR games included the usual Job Simulator, Beat Saber, and Superhot VR. Did you buy many of these games? Let us know in the comments below and prepare for God of War Ragnarok to take first place next month.

That’s some major money for Sony at 30%. And just one weekend.
Just imagine if MS would only allow it on PlayStation via Gamepass in future…
Gotham knights didn't deserve that hate it got so I'm glad it's doing good.
Kinda surprised Star Ocean was even in the top 20.
@RawnDawn Gotham Knight is part of Stars. Worth it? 75 points and % of the purchase price.
Gotham knights is a really good game. It sure was nowhere near as bad as its made out to be. Not a surprise that cod is number 1 but i'm sure a big angry bald man might take that top slot soon 👍
A Plague Tale: Requiem deserves to be a lot higher on the sales charts.
@Northern_munkey how would u rate gotham knights honestly , how does the overall quality/fun factor compare to WB Montreals previous game (origins) ? ive been on the fence so long about this game , since its way overpriced at $70 and only 30fps , it looks like a $50 game from streams ive watched . but the best way to know is by playing . so while i do intend to get the game i just dont know how much longer i wanna wait , and the $70 is so off-putting.
@LazyLombax is the co-op the only thing holding it back ?
@nomither6 i've never played origins so i'm not in a position to comment on how it compares. What i can say is that i'm really enjoying it and all the furore about the frame rate tanking is the stuff of drama queens over reacting. Yes it does drop mostly when using the bat cycle but even then its not that bad. The graphics are very good and i personally think that they are easily as good as arkham knight. I suppose it all comes down to what you like and what you expect from the game. I know you really liked origins and i know you really,really like multiplayer games so this may tick those boxes for you. I have not tried co-op yet so i can not say if its good or not..
@nomither6 i'd give it an 8/10 but i thought the review was a fair score and raised good points..probably liams best review to be honest.
@Northern_munkey
He's wiser and more tempered now.
