Sinn Studio has announced it will be upgrading the PSVR version of Swordsman VR so it's ready as a native PSVR2 title for the launch day of the new headset. Confirmed in a tweet from the developer, it also says it'll share news about a free PSVR to PSVR2 upgrade along with other details by the end of the year. The update means Swordsman VR joins Horizon Call of the Mountain and Cities VR: Enhanced Edition as confirmed launch games.
First released for PSVR in September 2020, the game has "mostly positive" reviews on Steam. YouTube channel PSVR Without Parole also seemed to enjoy the experience. Sony has said PSVR2 will have more than 20 "major" launch titles — including first and third-party — so there are a lot more games to be announced for 22nd February 2023.

Excellent news. Been interested in it for a while now.
Hoping for confirmation of further free updates. Particularly for games that are already using similar controllers on PCVR (looking at you beatsaber)
Really pleased to see free upgrades coming along. Surely others like beatsaber must be in the pipeline. Also stuff like ghost giant and the wonderful Moss would be most welcome.
Hoping for similar news from Polyarc and Moss II 🙏
This is what I'm banking on for launch with hopefully many more games getting free upgrades. Has anyone else had an email from Sony inviting them to the preorder?
@carlos82
Wow remember my Saturn, clockwork knight 1 & 2
Panzer dragoon etc.
No not had my invite yet to preorder, registered a few days ago.
GOWR console bundles disc and digital are up for preorder now.
@Dezzy70 Saturn is one of my all time favourite consoles, so many great games.
I don't even remember registering to preorder, unless I'd done it some time ago, just saw the email pop up and now have God of War installed and ready to go too 😃
@carlos82
Unfortunately no email for me yet. It’s driving me crazy. Have got several mates and work colleagues to register too, but nothing yet.
I wouldnt hold out for a free beatsaber update.
Quest 2 buyers buying the game on the occulus store have to make two seperate versions for the standaalone (quest 2 version) and the tethered version (PC/rift version)
Why this is significant is that other developers have been crossbuy (like in my eyes the superior synth riders)
So if Facebook......the owners of the Quest/Occulus store and beatsaber wont give its own customers a free cross buy (despite owning all parties involved).
Id say the chance of getting a free Beatsaber update for the PSVR2 will be minimal........unless Sony steps in to offer an incentive
......... (Which they may due to the pooularity of beatsaber)
Personally on topic.....Ive been on the fence with swordsman VR being what I understand to be a wave based sword fighting. (i dont like the repetition of wave based shooters generally so had the same feeling about swordsman vr)
However Ive also read they have be constantly tinkering away at the title and recently done an big rework of the combat. (I respect the commitment of the developers)
Whilst the time events both appeal to me (new weapons that play unique as rewards) but put me off.......FOMO.
The fact that Ive missed years of events that I dont know if they ever repeat is whats stopping me from buying it.
One day Ill look into it which will be the deciding factor if I buy it or not (if all events become avaliable all year round or at least historic events)
Nice. This was still on my backlog. Waiting for the free upgrade now.
@thefourfoldroot1 out of curiosity did you have the original PSVR? A friend at work has the same invite as me but doesn't remember registering and we both had PSVR
@carlos82
Yes, I’ve had it for years and bought most games digitally so they have a decent record of that. I wouldn’t expect Sony to have any type of in depth analysis going on though. It’s Sony after all.
@thefourfoldroot1 true, well fingers crossed you get one then
I won't buy one until they announce patches for some the the bigger PSVR1 titles like RE7. Astrobot, Wipeout, Blood & Truth, etc. Who wants to have both a PSVR and PSVR2 sitting around at the same time? A lot of people that didn't get a PSVR would buy a PSVR2 if the back catalog was compatible.
@carlos82 No invite for me yet. I'm dyin' over here! Haha.
So could this be why Sony didn't say anything about backward compatibility with the PSVR games because most companies will be doing free upgrades to PSVR2? I'll only speculatively I own neither device.
Does anyone know if it's possible to filter my game library so that I see only PSVR compatible games? Either through a web browser or the PS5 interface...
I recall claiming a bunch of PSVR games through PS+ even though I didn't own the previous headset.
They need to have another astrobot game packaged in as a launch title.
