If your only experience with virtual reality is the original PSVR headset, then Sony’s successor is going to be a huge step forward. While much of the discussion has centred on visuals and performance improvements, the new PSVR2 Sense Controllers are going to make a massive difference from a tactile perspective. Honestly, those PS Move controllers simply don’t cut it anymore.
One of the features that Sony’s crammed into the new handsets is finger tracking, and you can see it in action courtesy of the video embedded above. As the player gestures with his hands in real-life, you can see his movements replicated in-game. This is going to make a profound difference when it comes to actually picking up items and holding them.
Other mind-blowing features that PSVR2 has include eye-tracking, so in Firewall Ultra, for example, you’ll be able to select weapons by looking around. And, perhaps even more fascinatingly, in The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, the scene will actually change each time you blink! Terrifying stuff, but another demonstration of just how advanced this new headset is shaping up to be.

Some reviews are saying that the sweet spot is actually a bit smaller on this headset, and they had to adjust multiple times the position to actually fix the blurry image. Everything else looks really great though, including the finger tracking.
Always amuses me when people feel they have to sit facing the TV (despite the cord being on the back of the headset). Still, maybe it’s for the purposes of the video only in this case; to see a one to one view of the finder tracking.
@AFCC
Haven’t actually seen anyone say that myself, and I thought I’d seen all the reviews in English. Still, with the automatic calibration I guess it shouldn’t be too difficult to find that spot.
@AFCC Can you link them please? As above, I haven't read anything about that so I'd like to see what they're saying specifically.
Tracking looks great 👍
Can’t wait for it. Paid in full and it’s between this and stopping Nintendo World Cup being the greatest game experience of the year for the last 32 years in a row.
To be fair, that overhead kick is the sheee… ssssh.
Imagine that in VR.
@Intr1n5ic @thefourfoldroot1 I don't know if I can post reddit links but here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/z0igm3/two_different_reviewers_mention_the_only_con_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
It's still reddit so sources may be a little shaky lol
@AFCC
Ah, well, unless the lens is physically moving independently to the headset (unlikely), this sounds like a problem with fitting the headset itself so it is moving on the head.
As this halo fitting seems to be identical to the last version, with which I had no such problem, I’m not going to be too concerned about it. But if any large movement does lead to blur for this reason that would indeed be frustrating.
I'd have said "PSVR2's Finger Tracking Looks On Point"
@AFCC Cheers for the link. It's probably just a case of getting it setup correctly for you, I wouldn't worry about it. It's not something I've heard mentioned until today, the majority of hands on feedback has been overwhelming positive.
This is the full article from the first picture btw, titled "Tried PSVR 2 and it knocked us out of our socks" - https://www.gamepro.de/artikel/psvr-2-hardware-preview,3384507.html
The individual on reddit chose to highlight a slight drawback snippet from an otherwise very positive overview.
Original PSVR had a grainy image when playing, has this been addressed with PSVR2?
At the 10 sec mark when he fully opens his hands, how are the controllers being supported? Is it just gravity holding the grips against his palms? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe PS VR2 has hand straps like the Valve Index.
I hope the Pulse 3D headset will be able to fit over the sides of this thing. Feels like it might be a bit of a snug fit
Being tethered is a huge minus with me. But with Playstation games on it and eye tracking, I'll probably buy it. Can't wait to see what Team Asobi is cooking up for PSVR2.
Fingers tracking brings lots of tactical advantages on games. Especially the shooter ones. You could literally communicate with teammates without coms if needed.
@xDD90x it looks to me like he just rotates his hands slightly to keep them resting in his palms. I expect some third party company to release some type of strap on accessory eventually...for your hands of course😉
Hey @get2sammyb - have you guys heard anything about Sony offering another chance to pre-order PSVR2 before launch? I never received an email -yes, I checked my junk, promotions and other folders- despite registering multiple times before the pre-orders went live.
I've noticed that if you're based in Canada (and likely other countries that didn't have the invite system) that you can just go to Amazon or Walmart and pre-order - so they clearly haven't run out of stock:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BLT6368N?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_P8WH4GDB4VHD2V319YQ6&th=1
https://www.walmart.ca/search?q=6000205686718%206000205688271&c=all
Pretty frustrating for us based in countries such as the UK who would still like to pre-order but are being blocked for some completely unknown reason.
@AdamantiumPriest This has been confirmed to be resolved completely thanks to the 4k OLED lenses.
@get2sammyb @KingdomTears - just as an update to my comment above (in case of interest to the site or anyone reading) - I received a pre-order link this morning, so they are clearly sending a few more out ahead of launch.
