Naughty Dog has announced its TV adaptation of The Last of Us will premiere on HBO Max on 15th January 2023. In a tweet, the studio says: "You have no idea what loss is. #TheLastofUs premieres January 15 on HBO." The accompanying poster can be viewed below, which displays the logo and Joel and Ellie — played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey — at the top.
Due to the way HBO rolls out its TV series, this will be the first episode rather than the entire season. In the UK, the series will be available for viewing on Sky. There's no new trailer alongside the news, but the official reveal trailer is still more than worth watching again. Are you excited to start the new year with a bang? This is the first ever videogame adaptation I've been hopeful about - I'm really looking forward to this one!
HBO stands for Hippopotamus Breakdancing Organisation.
I haven't been particularly thrilled by what they've shown of it, but I'll give it a shot nonetheless.
The PC version of the remake will probably release close to this date.
Was really turned off by the cheaply lit look the trailer had but I'm hoping maybe this gets fixed in post production, though I'm not even sure how much they can do when they seemed to have shot everything with soap opera lighting.
Still I wasn't aware Melanie Lynskey was in it so that's pretty much a guaranteed give it a try for me.
You would assume that Factions 2 can’t be far behind right?
I wonder what's gonna happen
@colonelkilgore maybe, Sony did say they expect 2 live service titles out my march
Please make it so you can buy/stream it on the ps5. HBO means sky/now tv here in the UK and now tv is sh*t.
How can I watch it in the UK?
@Sqush-Pare "In the UK, the series will be available for viewing on Sky."
Start the week with TLOUHBO and end the week with Fire Emblem Engage? I can think of worse ways to kick off the new year.
@Sqush-Pare Anything shown on HBO in the US is usually shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
Can't wait for this!
@Americansamurai1 Yeah they probably don't want another Uncharted: LoTC situation so they'll release it while the show's still hot.
Looking forward to this.
I'm sure Pedro Pascal will deliver a strong performance, and I have high hopes for Bella Ramsey.
Weird to think that this is actually happening, I haven’t watched Chernobyl yet but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things so I’m sure that Craig Mazin will do a good job adapting the game
@nessisonett
That comment just made me think of those old animal documentaries they used to air on that network back in the 90s. What a blast from the past.
They’re already planning to show season 2 in the UK on Sky Sports Golf.
Absolutely can not wait for this!
PS- Push Square's sub-heading game continues to be top tier. Good job, @LiamCroft
I can't even put into words how badly I want this to be good.
I really liked Bella in GoT - she suited the part really well. I even liked her in the movie Catherine Called Birdy. But she still had the lisp in that, which doesn’t really suit Ellie. I just know that lisp will be distracting. I’ll give it a chance but Bella seems so unsuited to the role. It will be an intereshting take, that’s for sure.
I feel very confident this will actually be great. Chernobyl was excellent, and HBO rarely faulters with its big boy tv shows, so fingers are hopefully crossed!
Perfect! Blankets out, Tele on, hot chocolate made, maybe with a dash of Bailey's, why not? A proper winter blockbuster from the home box office. High hopes, tempered expectations, and Pedro Pascal, TV's ultimate foster father 😁
Do we know if it's running straight thru or are they splitting it in half like Titans and Doom Payrol?
@Eagly I've typed it that way like 4 times today, no joke. 😝
Maybe that's why I've gotten 400 SPAM emails the past 4 hours. Every 1 but yours. 😂
@Eagly It wasn't funny when I found the email receipt for the $800 phone charged to my credit card.🤬 Guessing the emails were cover? I called the company, they said they were shipping it anyway. Credit card has been cancelled. Email next I reckon, gotten about another 200, they just won't stop.
@Korgon January will be a great month for me personally. Especially since my birthday is January 18.
