Update: It's unclear whether CDPR is specifically referencing a PC update on social media. If it's a full-blown patch, we imagine that it'll be made available across all platforms, but it could be that it's designed to fix particular problems on PC. We've reached out to the developer for additional confirmation.
Original story: It's been over a month since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition launched on PS5, and up until now, developer CD Projekt Red has been quiet on post-release support. The 'next-gen' port runs great on PS5 for the most part, but there are still some issues that need ironed out, like noticeable bouts of environmental pop-in.
Fortunately, the Polish studio is on the case, and it sounds like an update is coming soon. Replying to a fan on Twitter, community director Marcin Momot says that a patch is "at the final stages", and that it "shouldn't be long until it comes out". We'll probably be getting patch notes in the relatively near future, then.
Do you have any specific hopes for this update? Have you been enjoying The Witcher 3 on PS5? Remember to meditate in the comments section below.

Mhhh the guy who is asking is specifically asking about the PC version.
You know that the original tweet that was responded to was regarding PC and not PS5, right? 🤔
The RT mode is amazing, but I wish it could maintain a solid 30FPS. I feel like that's not much to ask. There's also quite a bit of errant flickering.
On my 4k TV, the RT mode looks way better and I prefer to play it that way. The 60fps mode looks a little washed out.
@DaYdReAmEr86 The frame rate issues for me have been really noticeable with RT enabled so I have been playing exclusively in performance. Even the cutscenes have very noticeable drops in the RT mode its pretty bad. Horrible pop in too where entire mountains will disappear and reappear in the background
I'm about 125 hours in. It's such a special game. Been having fun with photo mode. It's stunning at times.
130 hours too late lol
Why couldn’t they have just waited a few more weeks/months to release this working propelrly? Frankly it seems they haven’t learned much from previous mistakes with Cyberpunk. 🤦♂️
Yes they had said the update would release in 2022 (a date they set themselves), but that could have been delayed, but they slid it out pronto with little advance warning late in December with major issues. Why couldn’t they just delay it a few more weeks/months till it was actually ready?
I hope it is for the PS5 because RT mode was almost unplayable on my PS5 with an LG OLED. So much screen tearing and glitches. Whenever I’d change armor, Geralt would glitch out and it’d affect every save. Love the game, but it was becoming unplayable for me.
@Splat ah yes, I've played about 50 hours and using photo mode or just staring at how good it looks in RT mode is a big part of that 😅 I've had barely any issues with RT mode either, especially comparing it to TW3 when I first played it rather than to other games now, other than on save it stutters really badly, but that's fine and I care very little about that because it LOOKS SO DAMN GOOD 🤯
Any improvements welcome though, as long as they don't make problems that weren't there appear 😬
At least in performance mode it runs really good. Yes, I noticed the pop in a few times, but it's rare. Played it the entire afternoon today.
Please add VRR 40fps mode in, I find the RT mode looks great but feels sluggish.
Hoping they fix the annoying stutter after every autosave or quest update. Performance mode runs brilliantly otherwise.
Has the 8th gen version received the update, too?
Just downloaded the PS5 version and I'm looking forward to beating the game and getting that platinum trophy again. I never finished blood and wine so this is my excuse to replay the game for a 5th time. It will be nice having a locked 60 fps especially when riding the pony through the swaps. Hoping they fixed the random game crashing that was present on the PS4 version!
I don’t know if this is just me, but I struggle with audio: NPCs will be super loud but I can barely hear normal conversations between Geralt and other main characters. I went in knowing the movement was going to be bad (and it is, oof), but I didn’t expect audio to be such a hang up. Anyone else or am I just old?
Hmm so how exactly is this the "Complete" edition if it still needs patches ...
I wish they'd remove those slideshows that come up when loading a game or moving from one area to another where it reminds you of the story, I know it's meant to give you something to watch while it's loading but on PS5 I feel like the loading ends well ahead of the slideshow and so it actually introduces a delay in loading, plus I'm tired of hearing the same lines about the ugliest man alive 😄
@themightyant lol wtf? It's a very minor issue most people don't care about, AND they're patching it anyway, and you want them to delay it for weeks just cause of that? No thanks lol.
@japongt My game has crashed twice in the first hour, and several others are reporting similar and other major bugs. It works fine for you, great, it doesn't for many others.
The game really needs a patch. It crashed three times when I was selling stuff to blacksmiths while playing the next gen version in my PS5. Otherwise, it is the same beloved masterpiece.
I was looking forward to finally finishing this when the PS5 version gave me a reason to revisit it, but the game constantly crashes when I’m in any store. I’ve deleted it and will see if a patch is ever coming for that.
Just finished blood & wine , amazing game 2nd playthrough. 1st time on my ps4 pro but on the ps5 in the menus it sometimes glitches graphically but it doesn't make it unplayable, still quality. Hope the patch addresses that.
Fingers crossed there will also be a PS5 patch too.
@EliJapan LG CX. I’m pretty sure it can hit that requirement but I’m not a TV expert unfortunately
