Update: The gigantic Gran Turismo 7 patch, featuring PSVR2 support and much more, is available now. It weighs in at 7.35GB on PS5, and includes multiple cars as well as a new track. If you're still playing on PS4, then the update is around 7.4GB.
If full PSVR2 support and four extra cars weren't enough for you, then tomorrow's Gran Turismo 7 update is also adding a classic track and superhuman AI for you to race against. Patch 1.29 bundles in the Grand Valley track with its complete Highway 1 layout as well as the South circuit. Additionally, the Gran Turismo Sophy AI announced last year will be available in-game for a limited time.
In the Race Together mode, you can race against the AI across four difficulty modes, either choosing to compete with four cars controlled by the AI or go straight for a one-on-one matchup. "The excitement of GT Sophy Race Together mode is enhanced with GT7’s new emoticon feature, which displays emoticons on the GT Sophy cars throughout the race to react to the in-game action." You'll need to be at least Collector Level 6 to access Gran Turismo Sophy, and it will be available until the end of March.
Furthermore, it turns out tomorrow's update will actually add five cars to the real driving simulator instead of four. There will be the Honda RA272 '65, the Italdesign Exeneo Vision Gran Turismo (street and off-road versions), Citroën DS 21 Pallas '70, and finally the Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) '73. Two new Scapes then round out the patch notes.
The PlayStation Blog lightly touches on the PSVR2 support arriving tomorrow — accessible when you get your device — explaining what to expect from the new Showroom area. Here, you'll be able to "admire all the stunning details of the ultra-high-definition car models in a variety of locations and lighting settings". What car will you take for a spin inside VR first? Share your pick in the comments below.

Grand Valley in VR.
Just over 1 day to go!!!!!!
Yes I will be taking this for a spin in VR and it's nice to see Grand Valley back.
I've just had a go of Grand Valley in the new Honda and it looks absolutely stunning, this is going to be breathtaking in VR even just driving around just for the pleasure of it
What an update! Cannot wait to play this in VR with a wheel but might have to if Sony doesn't ship for the release date!
My PSVR2 is showing as out for delivery today, on the UPS truck. I’m kind of bummed that the GT7 update won’t be available until tomorrow.
Hopefully Horizon Call of the Mountain will work without a hitch.
Was not expecting Grand Valley, wow!

I just wanted to put this here from Sony Japan as it’s the most hilariously Japanese thing I’ve seen in a while
(horizon and GT7 gameplay in case anyone wants to avoid spoilers).
Looks great.
@thefourfoldroot1 I was just about to post that, good coverage despite the fact that she picked a slow car.
Interesting as well that she seems to be steering using the gyro.
I honestly think GT7 will be PSVR2’s killer app. I’m not into racing games and I’ve never been sold on VR but… the combination of the two is giving me serious pause for thought 🤔
@CaptD
I thought that too, but then kept thinking I must have been mistaken. Nobody had mentioned that in the run up, plus I doubt it would be that accurate. Her left thumb is definitely off the stick when turning though, so unless she remapped to the right thumb I think you’re right.
@8bit4Life are you in the UK? Still showing as preparing for shipping for me.
@Daleaf No, I am in the US. Looks like Sony had them stockpiled in Ohio at a distribution center, which isn’t too far from me, probably allowing it to reach me sooner than expected.
@Daleaf Same for me in the UK, hoping if it doesn't update today they'll be sent out tomorrow with 24hr delivery...
@DiscoStuUK yea i just want to know if it will arrive day one or not. Just want an email saying shipped. Just too exited now lol. Im guessing all will be ok its just me being impatient lol. At least no one from uk had email yet which is a good sign lol.
Im certain this will be awsome especially for racer fans.
PSVR2 HAZ NO GAEMEZ!!1
Really great update by PD, ps vr users are so lucky! Can’t wait to drive grand valley again!
Sounds great. But why is Sophy only available thru March?
Just been trawling all the Tesco Extra stores for PS5 versions of GT7 & God of War Ragnarok but no joy. Seems I was too slow. All been bought up, £15 each😢
@Daleaf Not counting my chickens, but I’ve ordered a phone at 2pm on a Saturday before and DPD have dropped it off by lunchtime the next day, so quietly hopeful over here
@eagletrippin The PlayStation Blog post does mention they'll take the opportunity to collect feedback from users for future updates and releases. Sounds like it will be back, probably more tightly integrated.
I'm personally very interested in trying it out. I tend to find that the regular AI lacks the "I", whereas Sport mode is hit n' miss as human players can be quite aggravating at times.
Sophy update finally!
@DiscoStuUK still not got an email. Hopefully get one in a few hrs and all good for tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞
Man, I'm worried about the Sophy AI....I'll never win a race again!
@Toypop if comparing PSVR1 I can see that because cool as it is, it's just not great to look at a lot, but in general, cheap textures and actually 3D rarely looks worse to me than good textures and flat. Depth perception really counts for a lot, especially in racing.
@CaptD @thefourfoldroot1 I honestly assumed steering would default to gyro, and just pictured it that way. Technically gyro sucks, the latency is awful and the subtle micromotions of just holding the controller in air combines with the hyper-sensitive steering badly, and yet for VR it just makes more sense than stick steering.
@thefourfoldroot1 "sugoi, sugoi, sugoi, sugoi, sugoi" lol. Also, I'm now going to have "Play! Play! Play!" stuck in my head for a month....
GT7 will be a dealbreaker for a lot of people about wether to purchase PSVR2..It is gonna be an epic experience…now if you will excuse me I will get back to obsessively checking my mail for a delivery confirmation from Sony!
@Toypop I never got into the cost of early vive, but yeah, I can picture what it must have been like. I did play Dactyl Nightmare on those old Virtuality stations, so there's that!
eSports....I suppose it's sort of a different thing there. It's more like playing by instrument than by visual, in flight terms. I imagine F1 racers would rather remote control the cars from a multi-monitor station by instrument panel than from in the cockpit if they could, lets you watch multiple directions at once!
But yeah, it's all about the experience. GT7 is good, but I was really more interested in FM8 as the much better racer overall....in 2D. But as soon as GT7 became a full VR game, all interest in FM8 vanished.
@Nestalgia I remember Motorstorm had a trophy for completing a race using gyro controls and I thought, yeah they put in a trophy because people wouldn't use gyro controls otherwise.
@CaptD LOL, pretty much I mean motion isn't bad in GT7, but it's also not good. Though there's one or two people atop the leader boards that actually use them, so I guess they're not impossible.
But in VR...IDK, using stick steering just seems counterintuitive.
@NEStalgia When I finally give in and purchase Psvr2 then I will certainly give gyro a go, a wheel is just too much of an investment plus the amount of room is requires is just too much of a headache for me.
I seem to do fine with the controller, even managed to platinum Dirt Rally, only in VR though as I don't seem to be very good when playing flat and that goes double for Wipeout, despite playing the game since the ps1 days it was only in VR that I managed to be any good at it.
@CaptD I wish I'd played more Wipeout in VR1. That game was just....intense. Even as someone with no VR issues at all who's played VR on an off since the very early arcade kiosk days, that game was....intense.... too much of that and you walk away like you've been at the bar for a week straight.
