We've all been waiting an eternity for Dead Island 2 to finally arrive, and now, Deep Silver has announced it's launching slightly sooner than expected.
The game was delayed to 28th April 2023, but now, the publisher has confirmed the zombie-slaying, open world action title will launch one week earlier, on 21st April:
The news comes alongside the announcement that the project has gone gold, essentially meaning the game's done and ready for distribution. We expect there will be post-launch patches, as with any game, but the bulk of the work is complete.

Might grab this one after release. The first one was some nice brainless fun.
Had fun playing the first one with friends, might pick this up on sale
I would b be slightly excited if the original developers were making it, so I'll have to wait for trusted reviews to even consider it at this point.
I'm low-key fascinated by this release. I still enjoy zombie games. And the original game was a breath of fresh air for me in the space.
But this game's rocky road to release just... I'm baffled how it could be any good when there's so little TRULY known/shown mere weeks from release. It just reeeally seems as though they're hiding a sub-par product.
I can't wait to see if the wait was truly worth it.
I'm excited for this. But I'll be getting this later on after I complete Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, which comes out two days before this.
Got to be more fun than Dying Light 2 surely?
So hope this will be good. I've been looking forward to it for literally years...
Good, star wars was coming for them, and I have time to play both
A little hyped for this but ain't pre ordering. I remember Dying Light 2 got a ton of 7 out of 10 scores and plenty of 6s too and ended up not liking the game much at all. DL2 was a bit on the bland side if you ask me. Dead Island 2 has to have 8 out of 10 scores from a huge chunky minority of reviewers and a fair dozen 9s and a few 10s for me to even consider a purchase otherwise I'll wait for a sale. I agree reviews don't always get it right till you've actually played it for yourself to know if it's any good or not but there's nothing worse spending 60 or 70 on a game for it to end up meh
@Beerheadgamer82 Just stop looking at the numbers and focus on what they're writing lol Dying Light 2 was a pretty flawed game though unfortunately so hopefully Dead Island 2 doesnt suffer the same.
I want to give this a go but Jedi Survivors delay means this will have to wait but im hoping its good after all the issues and dev changes
@Nepp67 oh I do and not only do I read full on reviews but plenty of video reviews too. Yh I hope Dead Island 2 is so much more fun. It does look a lot more colorful than Dying Light2 but it's all about getting the fun gameplay loop right more than anything else, if they get that right there's a good chance
Probably didn’t want to clash with SW Jedi survivor.
@Cutmastavictory Who could forget that original tongue in cheek E3 trailer with the jogger?!😁
Quite the opposite in tone to the original Dead Island trailer!
Loved the first Dead Island despite it's numerous flaws, but I'm worried this new 'over-the-top' cheesy comedic tone is going to take away some of the magic that the first game captured quite well. I mean the first game had this constant uneasy atmosphere to it, I rarely felt at ease while playing, constantly looking over my shoulder, and just had this constant feeling of anxiety in the pit of my stomach, and I think the music played a large part in creating that uneasy atmosphere, and I enjoyed that feeling of never feeling safe.
So while I'm still looking forward to Dead Island 2, I'm worried this new tone may impact my enjoyment of the game, and there's nothing wrong with the 'over-the-top' tongue & cheek tone, it worked for Dead-Rising, but I don't think it fits in with Dead Island.
I'm the bomb and I'm 'bout to blow up.
I'm the bomb and I'm 'bout to blow up.
Been hyped since E3 2014. I'm hoping it's next favorite zombie game.
Good choice considering it had the same release date as Jedi Survivor. I'm hoping that it's good since I loved the first game and Riptide.
Still can’t believe this game even exists considering it was announced a decade ago!
Not surprising at all, they didn't want to compete with the big dog that is Jedi Survivor.
@JustPlainLoco your joking right?
@Undeadchris - If you're going to say 'your joking right?' how about being specific about which part you take issue with, and save us both some time.
@JustPlainLoco what you just said not hard to figure out babe
@Undeadchris - So you aren't going to elaborate which part of what I said got your panties in twist? So you're just wasting both our time then?
@JustPlainLoco what babe?
