Blizzard has confirmed that the open beta for Diablo 4 will be unleashed in March. It'll be available on both PS5 and PS4, and you'll be able to play through the game's prologue and first act. Based on our own early access to the action RPG back in December, that represents roughly ten hours of content.
Anyway, a pre-order gets you an early peek spread across one weekend, on the 17th March until the 19th March. Then, the beta will be made open to everyone from the 24th March until the 26th March. Not exactly the longest beta period we've ever seen, but it should be enough to give you a taste for the demon-slaying adventure.
Progress from the beta will not carry over to the full game, which is still set to release on the 6th June.
Will you be taking part in the Diablo 4 beta? Grab some loot and start the slaughter in the comments section below.

I’m really hyped for this, but I’m gunna wait for the full thing!
I am torn as I do not want to be bound to online play only even in Single Player.
That is why I skipped Diablo 3 on PC.
Only time will tell. I may buy it from some extreme sale.
Definitely NOT on day 1. This "hidden" DRM crap is too much for me
I'll play beta, but preorder closer to release date
Probably stupid question but if we preorder to try the beta are we still able to cancel the preorder and get a refund after the beta?
@cschene depends on the outlet you buy it from but in general, yes. No refund as no money is usually taken before dispatch.
Enjoy the busted servers.
@riceNpea thanks I got it on ps store for download
Im still on the fence on this. Diablo 3 left a bad taste in my mouth with the always online. So have a feeling this is gonna be the same. (Heck. Overwatch 2 had issues too..)
Also I really miss the older days when you didn't have to PAY to get beta access and devs gave people access for free cause they wanted help to stress test their game.
My most most wanted game in a long long time, i am a Diablo fanatic, still my favorite series from Blizzard. Hope they don’t have any issues with its launch. Pre ordered on Xbox, but i played Diablo 3 launch on my Mac, and it ran really really good. I even got the diablo 3 mouse. Wonder if those are a collectors piece or not.
I have played Diablo 1, 2 and 3 all on launch day! Diablo 4 will be no different. Blizzard games have always been great in my eyes.
@rawzeku Access to the open beta is free, though. People that preorder just get early access.
I personally think it'll be a good chance to try the game before considering if I want to buy it on launch.
What actually is the problem with games which require you to be online? Aren’t most peoples’ consoles always connected anyway?
@Zuljaras why do you care if it has a online requirement for single player enough to make you want to miss out on a epic game.
I understand it sucks, but problem is no one else is making top down action RPGs of this quality so we have no choice really. But to be so upset about it that you would miss out on the game there has to be strong reason?
@Cutmastavictory why preorder at all? It's not like it will sell out and even if physical copies do you can just download it if you can't get it, but even massive games god of war and Hogwarts and etc don't sell out why would this.
Preorder is silly, what if all the reviews come out saying it's got massive technical issues and it's better to wait until they are fixed, or what if the game just sucks hard and you just paid full price for a sucky game that will be on used market in days for much cheaper?
Just asking because I see this as a trend at the moment where people Haven't even seen gameplay in some instances and are already pre ordering games.
@Denni5m I care because there is ZERO reason to have always online connection for a Diablo game. Emphasis on the word "always".
I was so glad that the console version of Diablo 3 could be installed and played offline.
Soon Blizzard will not have a single game that is NOT forcing you to be ON their servers.
Even Diablo 2 Resurrected is making me synch with my Battle.net account from time to time in order to play with my OFFLINE characters.
At least I hope that the game is good. I mean REALLY good. But for now, it looks like a dark version of D3.
I grew up with their games but their current direction is just ... bad.
@Denni5m you wrote all of that to try and convince an internet stranger what to do with their money lol. But I'll entertain you, I often pre order the night before a game comes out unless something is gated like a beta that I really really want to try. In this case I'm not sure I might pre order next month, I might not. But I'm guaranteed to buy the game so spending 70 now or later makes 0 difference for me.
Do you need ps+ to play it even solo?
Hopefully it's like Diablo 2 where you have to sign in but can still play solo without any subscription.
@JohnKarnes blizzard is a company that people love to hate, the simple fact is Blizzard ara juggernaut in games and they know how to keep people playing I mean look at WoW or D3, yes people swear down to the ground they hate those games, yet... Still so many play
@JohnKarnes As same as me...
I've let myself down with D3 beta, maybe it looks I'll do it with D4 too. I think pre-order is not necessary, because local store is always supplied with new releases.
@Totheteeth What happens when the servers are no longer being supported? The game becomes a paperweight. Many (many) people love to play (and replay) games years later; but as a general rule, if its online only, then it has a finite life. (Even an end-of-life patch doesn't solve the issue; because the patch servers need to be up to get said patch).
The reasons that always-online is so hated are going to vary; but this is mine.
@Zuljaras just saw this a bit late, I thought the game was very mediocre imo, you just spam 2 skills or spells the whole game, there is no strategy to the battles. D3 was much better in gameplay. What did you think?
