Big surprise time: Hogwarts Legacy is still sat at the top of the UK's physical games chart. The game, which has so far sold more than 12 million copies globally, is at number one for the third week in a row since its release in mid-February. The PS5 version of the game continues to sell best at UK retail, accounting for 82 per cent of last week's sales.
It holds firm against a handful of new releases. Octopath Traveler II, Atomic Heart, and Like a Dragon: Ishin all make their debut, coming in at numbers six, seven, and eight respectively. Meanwhile, God of War Ragnarok has been bumped down to fourth, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the lowest it's been for a while at number nine.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.

- Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Atomic Heart really appeals to me but I just can’t get past the broken trophies as a trophy hunter and father with limited time. Awesome to see it selling well since it’s a small team who only wants to make a game and not have political discourse tie them down.
All these boycotts making a real difference I see. I'm genuinely glad for the developers that they are getting the success they deserve.
Glad to see all the LADs have been buying Ishin, 8th on this chart really isn't that bad for a semi-budget remaster/remake of a ten year old game.
@ErrantRob Leave it for until it inevitably comes to one of the PS Plus tiers somewhere in 2024. If they still haven't fixed the many glitched Trophies, just skip it entirely.
Seeing atomic heart and ishin chart makes me smile. I know it wont last but nice to see
Well deserved no1 again for hogwarts ,the devs deserve a tremendous amount of praise for this game ,just completed the 3rd trial....superb.
Glad that Hogwarts is still riding high, and that Ishin charted (although that should have been higher).
@Ooccoo_Jr confused me so much I thought you were talking about Atomic Heart at first.
Crazy world we live in 😭
@Cherip-the-Ripper I did mean Hogwarts but yes you're right! Mad! On a positive note what a brilliantly eclectic top ten - lots of single player games, RPGs, genre titles, platformers, racing, FPS - a real mix.
You love to see it.
@Ooccoo_Jr what crazy is it's still hasn't released on last gen. I think it's going to hit 20 million before the end of the year.
The thing I'm learning over the last couple of weeks is the ones who are shrieking are the insane minority who have to threaten and intimidate because they clearly have no solid argument, the ones who shout about hate and violence are the ones guilty of it and have lost any sympathy I might of had for them. Its good to see the games they target are selling well despite the vitriol they spew.
Happy to see Atomic Heart. It’s probably not everyone’s jam but I had a blast with it.
Good to see Octopath and Ishin chart in top 10 to keep engagement with Japanese games high. Interesting when the top downloads come out for all territories.
for all those that won't buy this game... your missing out. I understand your stance, but man this game is good and I'm not a fan of HP nor do I know anything about the contraversy around J.K. and personally I'm not interested to know. I've bought this game to support the developers who spent countless hours putting this experience together. I never thought I'd like this and TBH wasn't on my radar lol until I watched a couple of TheRadBrad videos and BAM I was hooked.
Though as I continue to play i'm seeing more and more bugs in the game. speech from enemies no where to be found, but I can se them on the map and diving into a cave only to find my character swimming upward into the air over top the cave lol... still it's really good.
Happy for the developers.
Probably off topic but CoD on no9 still don't understand fellow gamers would pay full price for the same gameplay and style every time for over a decade now
We need more good games like Hogwarts. A new era at least. Remembering good ol' classics like Soul Reaver ect
@Dynamq
Because CoD is popular on the mainstream circuits. That's the only reason.
Don't think hogwarts will stay top too much longer, with trail from azure out in under 3 weeks and atelier ryza 3 , jedi survivor end of april
@rumple1980 I'm the same, I'm not a massive HP fan, but have enjoyed every minute of it and even learnt new things about the lore.
I couldn't give a rats ass on J.K's opinions, whether you consider them to be right or wrong.
Really pleased with Atomic Heart so far, gets better the more abilities you unlock. Think Like a Dragon Ishin will be my next purchase, looks awesome and I love the Judgement series!
I’ve been steadily playing Hogwarts Legacy every day and loving it! Excellent graphics and atmosphere. I urge everyone to get a copy, it’s packed with content!
@johnny30 this is the UK sales chart though - I can imagine Jedi Survivor making the top 10 for a bit, but I'd be very surprised if the other two you mentioned come anywhere near. No disrespect to their quality as games, they're just much more niche than say, Harry Potter or Star Wars.
Case in point - the whole Trails series sold around 7 million copies between 2004 and 2022 (according to Wikipedia - "As of 2022, the series had sold over seven million copies worldwide"). That's just over half the sales numbers Hogwarts Legacy - one single game, has rustled up in just a few weeks
@johnny30 @danlk1ng Not to mention this is only current gen. The last gen hasn't even been released yet.
@Daveuppercut What's really weird is when, because of that tiny minority, we have this very site having to put a disclaimer type thing at the start of each article relating to the game; then we have Eurogamer, owned by the same company as Push Square, totally refusing to even acknowledge the existence of Hogwarts Legacy.
I find it fascinating that you happened to not provide platform splits for games like Octopath 🤔
@PressTurn I don’t think that’s a PushSquare thing. The source charts from GameIndustry.biz don’t break them out.
@Americansamurai1 I'd say 50 mill. 20 will be next gen only. There's 200 million+ gamers getting access to it in a few months
@johnny30 it wouldn't surprise me if it's top for a large portion of this year. Trails or ryza won't knock it off, they're too niche, they'll struggle to even make top 10. It'll jump back to #1 in April and July too.
I'm glad for the devs, it seems the game is really good, and in the end, gamers only care about the quality of the game 😃
@Amnesiac the full charts have a breakdown lol
“ Next up, Octopath Traveler II debuts at number six, which is entirely respectable for what is effectively a very niche RPG franchise from Square Enix. In terms of the sales split, the game comfortably sold the most on Switch at 74%, with the PS5 making up 24%, and the PS4 2%”
.
“We've also got Atomic Heart entering the charts at number seven. It's worth noting that the former was a day one release on Game Pass, so Xbox sales only made up 13% of the split.”
@PressTurn I was wrong, I thought the charts were from GameIndustry.biz but it seems it all originates from GfK analytics which must include additional data, likely behind a paywall.
Still, my guess is what you really wanted to say was "Look at how much better Octopath sold on a musty 7 year old tablet than on PS5!" And now you have. Well done, you.
@Amnesiac Hey, I shared numbers for Atomic Heart too, which did better on the cutting edge PS5 than it did anywhere else.
My point was more that PushSquare often tends to be selective with sales charts reporting when it can make their preferred system look bad, and I feel that's just not a good way to report news. And I extend this criticism to Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox as well, fwiw. I just think news should be consistently reported
@PressTurn That’s a fair point. Not sure if it’s an editorial decision or if something else is in play. I guess only those within the hallowed halls of PushSquare towers know for sure…
@Americansamurai1 true but PS4/XB1 sales of games these days are dwarfed by just PS5 for example, and the Switch version comes in July and will be heavily gimped to run on it's old hardware so might not be the same critical success. So I don't expect a large percentage of sales to come from these old consoles. PS5/PC will probably account for around 70% of sales, the rest Xbox series and old gen.
@Immortal_Barnet I was thinking a large chunk will come from last gen from kids picking up the game especially during the holidays.
