With Capcom's remaking efforts surrounding the classic Resident Evil 4 now complete, fans are predicting the company will move on next to either Dino Crisis or stick with its survival horror franchise and bring back Code: Veronica X. Over the weekend, we conducted a Push Square Poll to gather your thoughts on what Capcom should do next, getting close to 4,000 votes. The original PS1 title Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X were the runaway winners.
When asked "what game should Capcom remake next?", the results were as follows:
- Dino Crisis — 1,091 votes
- Resident Evil Code: Veronica X — 1,042 votes
- Resident Evil (1996) — 455 votes
- Resident Evil 5 — 420 votes
- Onimusha — 174 votes
- Dead Rising — 128 votes
- Breath of Fire — 114 votes
- Lost Planet — 79 votes
- Resident Evil 0 — 75 votes
Interest in a Dino Crisis remake or reboot has been at an all-time high for a number of years now, with fans thinking for a split-second their wish had been granted when Exoprimal first debuted. It has turned out to be anything but an intense, action-adventure game, however. Still, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X seem like the most probable candidates should Capcom decide to do another remake. Both subscribing to that classic style of gameplay seen in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, either one would be treated to a significant makeover.
Resident Evil 5 is much closer to modern gaming standards, so it may not be seen as a worthwhile project by Capcom executives. Do you agree with our Poll results? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Liam why wasn't Mega Man Or Devil May Cry on the poll?
@Areus I think Capcom has already done quite a lot for the Mega Man series with all those collections, and then — correct me if I'm wrong — the Devil May Cry games haven't changed all that much. They're all still linear action games, to the point where you might not see much improvement beyond the visuals. And we've already had the remastered collection.
Perhaps Resi5 is nearer modern standards graphically, but I’d like them to fix a decades old issue where the ps3 couldn’t have two distinct profiles run their own PSN accounts, which caused player 2 not to be able to have their own money or inventory. The wife and I got it, then bought it again on PS4 thinking it would be fixed, but no…I just want to get back the fun we had on the 360 version, but it’s still not possible without buying an Xbox.
@Areus Does Mega Man really need a remake these games could just as well get a new part.
Devil May Cry could made new but we just got a new game these other games are quite ancient.
Okami didn't even make the list? 💀
But generally i'd prefer NEW games in these series to remakes.
Res Evil 5 got votes lol
I see a lot of love for Resident Evil Code Veronica. I am not a huge fan of it. However, a remake has to be a lot different. This game has Steve, one of the worst characters in RE history. He acts like an idiot, even for videogame logic standards, and there is a gross scene when he tries to kiss Claire or something while she is asleep in the plane. Also, the whole Alfred concept was bizarre even back in the day. I don't even know what to say about it. From a gameplay perspective there are ways to soft lock you out of the game and loosing access to weapons in the final portion of the game.
I enjoy RE4 Remake in my PS4 and I would love to see a Remake of both Dino Crisis and RE Code Veronica, but I would prefer a next gen only RE9 new game.
@Flaming_Kaiser The Mega Man Legends Games could use a remake as those games haven't aged as well as the 2d ones. we all know that devil may cry 2 could as use a remake lol.
I absolutely love Code Veronica and it's hands down my choice from that list. It's the true sequel to RE2, the story is important for the greater series (far more than 3 and 4 I'd argue), and it's such a great setting, would look amazing with modern visuals.
I'd also like to see a few more fighting collections from Capcom, one with all the versus series from Children of the Atom up to MVC2, and one with their 3D fighters (SF EX, Rival Schools, Power Stone etc).
@Areus Thats true I dont know how many people want it but thats true for sure.
Another FPS dinosaur game that we need remakes of are Turok 1 and 2.
Out of those, for me it'd be BoF, though 2 to 4 rather than 1. RE0 would be nice simply because it was a nice idea - and with my waifu Rebecca Chambers in a lead role - but executed quite badly so it was a chore to play. RE1 is an all-time favourite of mine but we've already had the original, the Director's Cut right after, the DS version with DS gimmicky first person mode, the GC remake, then an updated port of that remake on PS4 and other platforms. Oh, and the little-known and unfinished Gameboy port...
I have this crazy idea, I know some people might find controversial but...how about making a new game?
Do resi 9 (the S becomes a 9 very easily) first, then do code Veronica. If 5 gets a remake it'll consume my life like it did originally. Ignore 6 ever happened.
New game's are always preferred but getting to experience s classic with modern controls and visuals, changes to story and levels/missions etc with quality of live enhancements are hard to sniff at.
I've loved all the RE-makes so far... except one that's way too scary lol
@nookie_egg 6 is an abomination in every aspect lol
I voted Dino Crisis but I'd rather see new games sick of all the remakes and remasters.
GIVE DINO CRISIS SOME LOVE!!!
Devil may cry 1 & 2 are amazing games but very flawed and unplayable for newcomers to the series they need to be reworked using dmc5 engine (and they might as well remake dmc3 next)
Turok approves of this.
Based on certain scenes in RE4, I suspect Capcom is probably gearing up to remake RE5 next (likely after RE9 or whatever it will be called). I'd love to see a reimagining of the first game that's more in line with the recent remakes in terms of gameplay and branding, but I don't think that'll happen. Code Veronica isn't particularly good, in my opinion, so I'm not personally clamouring for a remake of that one.
Onimusha.dino crisis is also.resident evil 5 and resident evil code Veronica x is cool also.word up son
Both games would benefit tremendously from remakes. Far more than RE4, frankly.
Dino Crisis deserves that top spot for sure. Between the copious amounts of dinosaur assets created for Exoprimal which could be leveraged for a new DC game, and the character that looks suspiciously like Regina, I'd be shocked (and quite let down) if Capcom didn't make a new one.
@LiamCroft Resident Evil Code Veronica X & the Dino Crisis games are worthy choices...though another long forgotten series would be Maximo Quest For Glory & Army of Zin..never got the closing chapter either with the devs moved on sadly!
Bionic Commando Re-re-armed
For me personally, Code Veronica should get a remake because it's one of the last classic RE games to have not got a remake yet.
For as much as I'd love a Code Veronica remake myself (especially with how shafted it got with the release of RE3/4R), I feel like out of the two options here....yeah it's gotta be Dino Crisis. While I definitely believe Exoprimal is meant to be a spiritual successor (especially with THAT character design), DC is a hallmark of the PS1 and it's hard to deny there being a game truly like it so a remake to let more people enjoy it would be highly appreciated imo ^_^
You simps! Everyone wants a Resident Evil: Outbreak Files 1&2 Remake. Now that current gen has more than capable online connectivity. But keep the cool silent conversation emotes! "Praise The Shelter!".
I’m gonna write in Maximo!
@Robocod Completely forgot about Maximo... that short-lived series was awesome! I'd be fine with even an HD collection at this point.
My top three would be..
1.Dino Crisis
2. Resident Evil code Veronica
3. Onimusha
I’d be happy to see any of these remade,
No mention of Chaos Legion makes me sad.
@PSXDave Its funny cause those games has been rumored SO many times now, and still nothing. But I agree. Would honestly love to see them get a fresh coat of paint with a netcode that actually works properly lol.
Dino Crisis reigns supreme. Capcom admitted years ago they wanted to revive some IPs including DC and BoF. I think it's time to fix the franchise killing error that is DC3 with a remake of 1.
Then do Onimusha.
Resident Evil 5 with 420 votes nice!
@rpawlos15133 Yep,loved its spiritual ties to the Ghosts'n'Goblins series, but had its own little touches...always remember the first skeleton soldier going "one, two, hup!",until you interrupted! 😂
Hard as granite, tag teamed with my old school buddy to try reduce some of the hair tearing moments....but was a blast!
Kept hoping it'd reach the PS2 Classics range on PS4,unfortunately with that emulation range seemingly not compatible on PS5, they've seemingly abandoned making any new/updated PS2 Classics on PS Deluxe/Premium which is a crying shame!
Still think Exoprimal was a missed opportunity to revive Dino Crisis. Capcom did my girl Regina dirty.
After giving it some thought, I feel Resident Evil ReRemake under the RE Engine is the best possible choice.
@Robocod I hadn't heard that about the PS5 being an issue with emulating PS2 games... very disappointing! I've thought about picking up older consoles to start collecting some of the PS2 and PS3 era titles I miss, but I kept holding out hope that Sony would beef up their PS Plus Premium offerings for retro titles. I may have to bite the bullet and start hunting them down!
Capcom should take a break from remaking RE games. As great as the previous entries were, having to release RE games every year will just feel like milking the franchise too much (like Assassin's Creed). Dino Crisis would be the better option to remake at this time since there's been a big demand for it from fans recently, especially after the Exoprimal reveal that led people to believe it's a Dino Crisis game
Dino Crisis and Code: Veronica is definitely up there. I doubt Capcom will ever do it but I do hope that they remake RE1 in the RE Engine.
Dino Crisis obviously!
@themightyant I love that game too, but it has the record of best game no one played, of all time. They ported it several times again didn't work. No remake then
I'd prefer Code Veronica, however, Dino Crisis would also be awesome. Really want to see that series return.
Dino Crisis 1&2 is my go to mobile game (Parasite Eve too). epsxe and a Razer controller make the game brilliant again on a 6" screen. Who needs a Switch, or Premium!, when I have a back catalog this good. I do still own the physical copy before you go off on one.
@2here2there Okami is the best non-Zelda Zelda game imho. Although that is also a bit of a disservice, it does it's own thing too. There are a few frustration early on, and it's slow to get going, but once it opens up it's truly AMAZING.
I've bought it, and completed it, 3 times over the years. PS2/Wii/Switch and I think I own it on PS3 though PS+ too. But I would gladly have a proper remake that gives it some needed Quality of Life improvements.
Remake marvel vs Capcom 1 2 3
Remake rival schools
@LiamCroft But the remasters where really really barebones of the first three DMC I have to agree on that.
How about make a new game, stop all this rehash BS, sure it may work for some games but the majority just won't work, stick your thinking caps on and make something original, guaranteed it will do 100x better than another remake of a game best left in the past.
I do agree with the poll results, though I'm sad that Resident Evil 6 didn't make the list.
@HEVIHITR
You and others like you speak for yourselves.
I am 100%, out of the polls, looking forward to:
Dino Crisis
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X
Resident Evil (1996)
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 0
@PSXDave
Not everyone but I am definitely one of those who wants to see those remade too. Honestly speaking though, to play with friends is easy. But those with no friends? That's the real challenge because them AI can be unhelpful at times.
@2here2there @themightyant
Sometimes, the sales matter more which is most of the time when it comes to business.
Sometimes, players' interest matter more which is just as important. Just look at SE's Doomed to Fail, "FFVII: The First Soldier" entry.
That said, in my case...
I did give Okami a "try" personally.
Before buying anything, I watch gameplays and stories on Youtube.
Unfortunately, it just did not click with me.
Like at all.
@AkaGeki That's entirely fair enough, we all like different things.
One trouble Okami had is the opening few hours were excessively slow, it took a relative age to open up. And there were some bizarre choices like how you couldn't speed up /skip the dialogue until later versions. Those would put many off in the opening hours alone. But once it opened up it was a magical game for many, it truly got better and better as it went on.
While it absolutely won't be for everyone it is subjectively MY favourite Capcom game, above Resident Evil, above Street Fighter, above Monster Hunter... even if objectively I don't think it's the best.
