Developer Cellar Door Games is the team behind the Rogue Legacy series, as PlayStation users should know. The original game found much success on PS Vita and PS3 back in the day, and by the sound of it, the sequel is a bigger and better version of that addictive formula. After a prolonged stint in early access, Rogue Legacy 2 made its initial launch nearly a year ago, and fans on PS5 and PS4 are still patiently waiting for a port.
Well, we say "patiently", but the studio has been pestered about it on social media with pretty much every post it makes, with fans pleading for the sequel to release on Sony's platforms. It's happened again just today, as the team announces another free update coming to the game soon. So, when is Rogue Legacy 2 hitting PS5 and PS4? There's still no concrete answer.
"Sorry, we're a small team, but we're always working on things," comes the reply from Cellar Door, echoing previous statements on the matter. We think it's pretty safe to assume the team has a PlayStation port in the works, but with only a handful of people on staff, it's going to take some more time.
The good news is that the game will very likely be worth the wait. Our sister sites Pure Xbox and Nintendo Life each awarded the sequel a 9/10, praising the responsive platforming, compelling rogue-lite loop, and sheer scope of what it offers. As big fans of the first Rogue Legacy, we can't wait to finally play it ourselves when the time comes.

Totally not getting it, the original was a huge time sink, really had to drag myself away from it!
"Sorry we are a small Team". Yet they had time to port the Game to every other Platform haha
I’ve been waiting on this one for forever but I loved it so will still get it. I have a switch but I got the plat for the original and would rather have it on PlayStation
I just don't understand why devs cant just say: "it's in the works." I don't think the fans wanted a release window.
Its fine if they have a contract with xbox to block it from playstation for a set period. Probably will skip it since its been out so long with no access to it.
Are you sure it found success on PS3? I recall it releasing on the PS4 and Vita
Whats with the pic of the lad who looks like he is trying to pass a brick?
They should get Iron Galaxy to help
Nintendo fans:
I've had it on Steam Deck since it released, probably the best way to play the game.
@Phantasystar77 Without deals in place, it's not clear why they'd release it on a platform with a significantly smaller install base than PS4, but not on PS4. Why would a company release a game, willingly, on something with less then half the install base of another platform they've ignored?
