Cygames, the hugely successful Japanese company behind runaway mobile hit Granblue Fantasy and its various spinoffs, is expanding. It's been clear for a while now that Cygames wants to become a more globally recognised outfit, and to help it realise its ambitions outside of Japan, it's now established Cygames America and Cygames Europe.
These new offices have been opened in order to publish and market its games in the West. The American arm will be based in Los Angeles, while the European addition will operate out of London, UK.
Of course, this all makes a lot of sense when you consider the timeline. Granblue Fantasy: Relink, the fantastic looking PS5 and PS4 action RPG that's been in development for years, is still set to release in 2023. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also on track for this year. Both titles are targeting a simultaneous worldwide launch.
In short, this is a significant step for Cygames, and perhaps an inevitable one, given the company's immense success in Asian territories. It's also likely that this announcement precludes incoming news regarding the aforementioned Granblue Fantasy titles, so keep your eyes peeled.
Are you excited to see Cygames expand its reach like this? Are you looking forward to the upcoming Granblue Fantasy games? Grab a crew and hop aboard an airship in the comments section below.

Biggest takeaway for me is that Project Awakening Arise is not, in fact, vaporware. Good.
WHERE'S PROJECT AWAKENING CYGAMES!!!???π΅βπ«π΅βπ«π΅βπ«
Oh, so they're big on mobile. Because all i knew was that this grandblue RPG has been announced forever, with little definitive news and just a niche fighter delivered, so I really wondered what makes them so big.
@Master_Shake I was just googling Project Awakening last night to see if there had been any news on it in 2023 yet.
Dying to hear more about that game.
Desperate to get my hands on Granblue Fantasy too of course.
Been waiting on word for Granblue Fantasy for ages...
I think we can start to understand why Relink has taken so long now (at least partly). Cygames really wants that game to be a big hit, and establishing these Western offices will help them push it as much as possible. All of this will have been planned out for ages.
It'll also be interesting to see if Cygames starts publishing stuff from other studios as well β it certainly has the financial clout to do so.
I don't believe ReLink will be out this year. We're basically in May and there's no release date, also the game was also "still settled for release" in 2020, 2021 and 2022 xD
That's good to hear. Granblue is nonexistent on the American mobile front so that and the ability to market their better in the west will probably help increase Granblue's reach
Canβt wait for ReLink! Itβs like we are living the ps2 JRPG era
@ShogunRok yeah I can agree with this going for a worldwide release ain't easy and I thought they were a global company as big as granblue is so I was a bit surprised by this but now we know gears r turning and things r happening
@Master_Shake @Keyblade-Dan @Shepherd_Tallon Hopefully that game is still deep in development, and the long wait is them making a native PS5 version.
