Hot on the heels of HBO’s outrageously successful The Last of Us adaptations comes an all new effort under the PS Productions umbrella: Twisted Metal. You’ll know that filming wrapped on this quite a while ago, and now it has a release date for its streaming platform Peacock: 27th July, 2023. The series will consist of ten episodes, with Marvel’s Anthony Mackie in the star role. A teaser trailer will debut imminently, giving us our first taste of the show.
Details are still light on the actual plot, although we know it’s being billed as an “action comedy”, with Deadpool’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick leading the project. Mackie will star as a “motor-mouthed outsider, who’s offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland”. Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Will Arnett will also star.
There are rumours that a new Twisted Metal game is also in development at UK studio Firesprite, although the trail has gone cold on that in recent months. Assuming it’s real, though, this feels like the right time to announce it – especially if promo for the TV show is about to heat up.

I could see a trailer at a PlayStation showcase with a game announcement.
Hopefully the game announcement isn’t too far behind
This is going to make The Fast and Furious look like Shakespeare drama 😄
Uff, that's some rough Photoshop there, but I'll give it a shot if it's anything like death race.
I don't like that its on Peacock, makes it feel like a dud
@tameshiyaku It's marginally better than one of my Jim Ryan edits! Which isn't exactly a positive...
@get2sammyb on the contrary, in terms of thumbnail comedy, your Jim Ryan edits prove you have no equal.
Poster looks bad ngl, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until we see a trailer
Flop. Peacock alone is bad energy.
idk what y’all are seeing but this would’ve been an A+ in my photoshop classes.
the poster does suck though for different reasons .
@nomither6 Anthony Mackie’s head is way way too big in order to make his face legible.
Hell yeah, get that Last of Us garbage out of here, Twisted Metal is what i'll show up for.
@nessisonett oh i missed that smh. ok , maybe not an A, but still like a high B
Car battle games would make really good battleroyale games
Being able to fully customise your car with cosmetics and weapons would be something I would spend money on !
I would say it looks bad, but I think it's an offence to the word bad.
@get2sammyb that shouldn't keep you from your art. Truly inspirational!
I don't like the look of the clown on Sweet Tooths truck
I'm not buying another streaming service. I'm just going to watch it on a site offering it. I'd enjoy watching but not forking over more money for a single show to watch.
I can't recall ever playing a Twisted Metal game outside of maybe a demo disc in a magazine, but is that even remotely the premise of the game? I always thought it was more like a modern day "demolition derby" but w/ weapons.🤷♂️
I can't imagine it will be good, but it may be bad enough to be watchable if they go all in on making fun of themselves like "Scream" or a stoner flic. If they're playing it straight like Mad Max meets Death Stranding this has no chance, could be worse than the Monster Hunter movie. Boy was that bad.
I don't know how Peacock works. I think it used to be split between free and paid, then between paid w/ or w/o ads. I don't even know anymore, don't even care. I'll assume it's a weekly series, maybe when it's over I can find a 1 week cheap trial or something on Instagram. But I will watch it b/c I like the premise and Mackie.
@SillyBoyJudas
Step 1: Wait until the entire season has released
Step 2: Get a free trial
Step 3: Binge or semi-binge the whole thing
Step 4: Cancel before free trial ends and you get charged
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit
@PegasusActual93 I don't think peacock does free trials.
