Bandai Namco has announced PS5, PS4 JRPG One Piece Odyssey will receive an expansion in the coming months that brings another mystery to Waford, centred around the Black Cubes. Neither a price nor release date have been revealed yet, but the trailer above provides some more context.
In a separate video, producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki says the DLC will be more focused on combat than the base game was and is designed to be tackled after completing it. Battles will demand a more tactical approach and there will be some new special winning conditions. Since some fan complaints centred around how easy the game can be, this will surely be welcome news for those looking to play more One Piece on PS5, PS4. The main theme of the Reunion of Memories expansion is "until stories of bonds between characters", according to Tsuzuki.

"The famous pirates are finally resting after their unbelievable adventures on the island of Waford and in Memoria, the world made of their memories. But as they celebrate their last night together before sailing away, a girl who looks like Lim appears dressed in black clothes with her hood pulled over her face, holding a sinister black cube in hand... but who is she? The Straw Hat Crew will be forced back into Memoria and transported again to Alabasta, although it seems different from last time, and the cube needed to escape has disappeared!"
In our One Piece Odyssey PS5 review, we gave the game an 8/10 and shared praise for its combat system, exploration options, and somewhat welcoming design for franchise newcomers. "Its combat system remains incredibly enjoyable throughout, and new mechanics provide depth and strategy in droves. Most certainly the highlight of the experience, but with fun exploration to boot, you're always assured of a good time. One Piece Odyssey plays a lot like Dragon Quest XI, and it's not that far off being just as good as it."

It's a shame that it looks like it's just remixing events in areas already in the base game & not adding any more of the anime's story arcs.
While the idea for this DLC is less interesting than what I hoped for (i.e. a new region to explore, such as Wano), I like the comment about the increased focus on combat, since the main game was indeed far too easy.
Cool to see Enel as well, I wonder if we'll be seeing other big villains besides him.
Interesting, wasn't expecting an expansion since the game felt like a one-off. I feel like I had my fill after getting the platinum but an expansion to the combat and seeing more of Lim does sound enticing. Will wait for the reviews to decide if I want to come back.

STOP IT! STOP SENDING ME BACK THERE!
Loved the game. I'll decide depending what other RPG out at the time of release
I played it as a handheld game on my Steamdeck. Great game for on the go (even at 11W TDP limit) or at the Hotel after a long day at work. Not stressful and fun.
Well worth a play if a fan of Turn-Based jRPGs
@Sakisa: I can relate xD I feel like half the game took place in Alabasta and whenever the plot got interesting they just sent you to another past to revisit stuff you already know with a slight twist...really wished there was more original content.
But aside from that I liked it well enough.
I loved this game and I'm buying that dlc. Though I disagree the game was welcoming to newcomers.
Sure, anyone could play the game, but that plot was completely for the fans who've seen the whole series and did extremely little for it to make sense for anyone else.
As a maniac who's watched the entire show, this was great. My wife, having not watched the show but saw a lot of the game over my shoulder, was totally lost to the plot or characters having any impact.
Nothing wrong with that, as a fan this game was a gift, just seems like something newcomers should know.
As long as you don't care about that, gameplay is great fun, I don't recall any glitches and it never crashed on my PS5.
A rare thing among new games these days.
Hard pass on this DLC, they already make you revisit all these areas in the main game.
