Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol has been a long time coming, but it’s partnered with Amazon Game Studios to get the project over the line, and considering the success of Genshin Impact and Final Fantasy 14, we’d argue that’s probably a shrewd business move. While there’s no firm release date just yet – it’s apparently due later this year – the publisher has dropped the opening cinematic, which looks like it could have been ripped straight out of the latest Crunchy Roll release.

Tales fans in particular will be able to see the Bandai Namco footprint all over this, but we reckon it looks good, and certainly gets the juices flowing. The soundtrack, by the way, has been provided by 90s Japanese rock band, L’Arc~en~Ciel. No group should have a career spanning 30 years with a name stylised like that!

This is probably my single most anticipated game. I really hope BanNam nails this one.
Been looking at this game for the past few days and it looks really good from what I've seen so far.
This video here shows a lot of what to expect and goes into some detail about the classes and some of the games mechanics, fighting and exploration.

The combat looks great and those 30 player raids look a lot of fun, I don't usually play MMO's but I will definitely give this a go.
@BeerIsAwesome Recently watched suzume and it was great, His films have some of the best art around but would cost a lot to keep that animation for an entire 12-24 episode anime, but it's getting there.
If amazon doesn't screw this up it could be good.
Any gameplay images anywhere?
@Konks there youtube videos of the closed japanese beta.
Watched Asmongold play the beta, looks pretty good, might be my first mmo I properly dive into!
Looking really good but I prefer single player games, hope bamco make new tales with this kind of (ps5 only) graphics 😃
My group of buddies I play MP games with are all really looking forward to this, it has so much potential to be great.
@Konks literally hundreds of hours of footage scattered across YouTube, have at it and enjoy!
Let's just hope it only looks like a Crunchyroll anime and isn't treated like a Crunchyroll game.
It looks right up my alley, fingers crossed gameplay is on point! I’ve been playing Tower of Fantasy lately (GI clone, essentially) but it needs more time in the oven. For starters controller support is still half-baked.
Looking forward to more.
Am interested to see how the game turns out.
That headline though only makes me want to think. First time. Because otherwise I mean how many games have good or just an anime intro in anime artstyle/anime license games..... what makes them less of an anime than another.... How is that a catchy headline I swear to me it just falls flat personally. XD
Have been following this since day 1 it was announced and it looks fantastic. But the fact it has Amazon behind it as well has me very worried.
@wiiware Same here! I'd love to see Tales games finally reach PS5 level of graphics (Arise doesn't count).
