Shuhei Yoshida, Sony's Head of Independent Developer Initiative, is in the business of indie games, and he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Such was the case with the colourful Tchia, which he took for a spin, assisted by Awaceb game director Phil Crifo and host Sarah "Snaxan" Carlos.
The trio traipse around the idyllic landscape, discussing Tchia's New Caledonian influences, which inspired the game's world, characters, and aesthetic. Yoshida is on the sticks, ably guiding the action with the kind of dexterity and skill we can't imagine is common in Sony's C Suite.
Tchia is currently available through PS Plus Extra, and recently got 60fps support on PS5. Have you had a chance to check it out? Chill out in the comments section below.

Still gotta give Tchia a try soon. Looks like a decent effort and experience.
I'm playing Tchia right now and it's a great game. Beautiful and chill. Great experience if you are looking for something like that with an extra pinch of collectionables and mini games.
Shu is the last shard of the soul of PlayStation that has not been crushed. We need more of good ol Shu!
Don't sleep on Tchia! Its a lovely chill experience like I haven't had in quite a while. It kind of gives me 'Yonder - the cloud catcher' vibes, which is no bad thing at all.
@NEStalgia Agreed, certainly the only one high up that still carries the true Playstation spirit that Jim Ryan trampled on.
And yeah, Tchia is good, pleasant surprise and the game that got me to turn my PS5 on for the first time in months.
Finished the main story last night and I loved it. I'll be playing a lot of the post game content.
Beautiful experience, Tchia. Oftentimes these games lack in their moment-to-moment gameplay, especially when controlling the character, but Tchia is very polished in all its aspects. I'm barely paying attention to the main story (which is good!), instead roaming around the gorgeous world, launching myself from the tops of trees and commandeering birds to soar over the islands (and poop on other animals). What a unique and wonderful game!
Im sorry Tchia i just dont the love for it i found it average at best
I would totally be for replacing Jim Ryan with Shu but I doubt he would want the job.
He is a saving grace for Sonys indie relations though.
@NEStalgia second that.
Man, can't believe they got Shuhei Yoshida himself! Must have been the thrill of a lifetime for these developers!!!
Shuhei Yoshida represents the Sony that we wish we had at the top of the food chain. But, Jim Ryan is all about profits over everything else. So like Bobbie K. the stock holders want Jim there. It's a shame.
And, as was said earlier, I'm sure Shu wants nothing to do with executive suite politics.
@BeerIsAwesome we'll never know the details of course, but the leaks and rumors circled around Shu and Shaun being participants in the power struggle against said punching bag which is how one was forced to leave and the other got massively demoted, along with other less famous but important figures. Add others said it's not 100% on Jim but it marks the transition of Sony from being that sort of special entity lovingly built in Kaz and Kutaragis time to being just another American publisher with the same vile leadership and practices like Activision, 2K, EA etc.
Xbox does have the far better indie program right now, but that's because the initiative comes from the top as a company priority rather than treated like an inconvenience at the top and Shu works with what he has to work with.
Honestly I'd say EA has a better indie program than Sony right now, but that's not on Shu. The entirety of the platform image is built around the image of indies being lesser than the "important"games, the blockbuster focus, etc etc.
