We're not saying that you need to go and delete half of the games on your PS5 just yet, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor might be really, really big in terms of file size. EA and Respawn have just released the upcoming action game's PC requirements, and according to the fact sheet, the title requires a whopping 155GB of storage space.
Now, thankfully, this doesn't necessarily mean that Survivor will be the same size on console — but it does suggest that it ain't gonna be small. Generally speaking, AAA PS5 games — especially those that are heavy on cinematics and high quality assets — tend to weigh in somewhere between 40 and 80GB. Titles that go beyond that threshold, veering into the realm of 100GB or so, are a rarity.
What's more, the PS5's touted 'Kraken' compression technology is supposed to keep file sizes in check. We have seen PS5 versions of various games take up noticeably less storage space in the past, compared to other consoles.
With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releasing in just a few weeks, on the 28th April, we'll probably get confirmation of console file size in the relatively near future. But until then, let us know if you'd be able to squeeze a 150GB game onto your PS5 in the comments section below.

I still have to play through the first but have a 1TB Firecuda installed in the expansion for troublemakers.
I like bigger file sizes. Means I have no choice but to have fewer games installed at once.
@BeerIsAwesome Disc games install the same files on the HDD as a download. The only difference is the data comes from a disc rather than a server and needs the disc in to play.
I got a 2tb Firecuda in my ps5 I'm ready. The ps5 version will be smaller then the 155gb.
Got SSD space about a year ago; bring it on.
Meh I don't require to have numerous games installed at once... usually only playing 1 or 2 games at a time...and if they are single player once I am done with it I will uninstall and move onto the next
Heck, I just noticed GT7 is over 120gb! 😫
I usually just have the game I'm currently playing and the game I plan to play next downloaded at a time.
It’s probably all those ultra super high beard textures the master race loves so much, us console plebs will probably only get medium beard textures if we are lucky.
Ugh, after downloading a few games recently, I’m down to my last 40 GB. I’ll need to do some Spring cleaning of my SSD
Oh no what am I to do, inserts physical disc...
Even if you get physical some of these games still take forever to download, Horizon Forbidden West takes up 99.57 GB on my PS5 and I remember that taking 2 hours to download with the current updates included.
Good thing I took advantage of that recent sale on ssd's Amazon had.
And yeah so much for game files being smaller this generation.😄
🤔 Definitely going to need that 2TB WD SSD by Christmas...
Thats a lot of space.if it holds up.but ps5 have a way for games to be smaller.word up son
Hopefully not a siren warning us of bad optimization.
I will have to go physical on this one whenever I buy it. I have a lot of space, 2 TB in addition to the base PS5 storage, but I get 1 TB of downloads a month from my crummy ISP and we use 700 gig just through streaming and work. 155gb is all my leeway on one game.
I absolutely don't believe it will be near 100GB.
But in general, my additional 1TB SSD isn't enough for me anymore. It really sucks that a lot of games are so huge now.
Alone GT7 and GTA 5 are real place drainers. Even fighting games are pretty huge now, KoF 15 also takes around 70GB. There are games, I don't want to delete. So I won't have another choice and have to replace my 1TB with a 2TB SSD.
@NEStalgia I kinda find it hard to understand why that is. I don’t actually think it looks THAT good if I’m honest
Makes me really contemplate getting a 4tb ssd was looking to buy a 2tb but I'm just not sure anymore 😕 🙃
That size is probably the PS4 and PS5 sizes together. For some reason that total size is the common one listed on the PS Store.
Got a 2tb ssd but that’s nearly full so will have to delete some games. Got it pre ordered and hope they give us a good few days to pre load. (My Internet isn’t the fastest)
I only install the games i'm playing so i'm not sat there deciding what to play. Kraken does a really good job of keeping the files sizes down so if its 155 gig on the pc that means its probably going to be around the 100 gig mark on the ps5..its not a problem unless you need it to be.
@Totheteeth That's a really good question, I never thought that of all games would be the biggest game I have, bigger than hfw or ff7r even!
Thinking about it, there's a LOT of cars and I'm thinking each mesh is probably pretty big, with the amount of detail, interior and exterior, maybe a conversion from the manufacturers own AutoCAD files. The other space hog is probably audio. Different car sounds for every action, from accelerating to the sound of the shifter with all different race parts recorded for the actual real cars for tons of cars probably really adds up. I can't think of what else it could be.
That’s just crazy! 😕
Honestly people, who in their right mind store games just for the sake of nostalgia?, do you play 10 games at a time?... I mean, you end the game, get the Platinum Trophy and delete it... don't tell me that you keep it? FFS!!! that's why you've got videos of that very moment... talking about of a waste of space...
I bet they could trim some fat by eliminating the completely pointless cosmetic only clothing and hairstyles that have literally zero meaningful impact to the game. Matter of fact you could then cut down the pointless to explore environments to just linear combat filled corridors and save even more on that file size.
Thanks for the thought though respawn. Way to evolve, from ponchos, and lightsaber bedazzling, to beards, pants and light saver bedazzling. Valiant effort. Maybe some actual meaningful gear the third go around?
@KundaliniRising333 You do realise most players are excited about the cosmetic side right? Respawn aren't making the game just for you in mind. Cosmetics especially non paid ones are always welcome in games and if you want the generic look with the generic blue lightsaber then just use that.
IIRC the first machinegames Wolfenstein had a massive file size due to uncompressed assets in order to discourage privacy, same situation?
@KundaliniRising333 So…you want them to cut down on fun extras and exploration.
…that should work out well.
Well, as I have The Witcher 3 installed, will download Horizon FWD again for the DLC and will get Ghostwire Tokio too, I hope Jedi Survivor is not toooo big...
We joke about it, but it's actually a pretty major flaw with the PS5 and having to uninstall and reinstall games to manage space for new games is definitely something that results in me buying less software overall.
Expected this since it’s 3x bigger than Fallen Order. Previews look very promising too. Loved the first one (except maybe the map?). It’s not open world but has open world gameplay if that makes sense. Looking forward to the more dynamic Jedi combat!
I read the article about Marvel Avengers free stuff the other day and despite not having a shred of interest in the game I DO like free stuff so thought I'd download my PS Plus copy. The file size was something outrageous like 120gb or something. Nah, don't like free stuff that much!
Can't say I'm overly interested in Jedi Survivor either. I've got Fallen Order and I like it enough, but the puzzle element is a huge turnoff and sometimes it feels like you are going round in circles because of the map.
@Konks GOW Ragnarok is 125 plus 50 for and extra update on ps4 and its runs like silk, so i think its the opposite.
Ouchie. Good thing I asked for a 2TB SSD for xmas last year. Bring it on!
Checking what the recommended PC specs are, the GPU required alone, is just shy of $400. That's not including everything else you need if you're requiring a full update to get a PC that can play modern games. Yeah... I'll just stick with PS5.
Is what it is... Sony should have never released a console with 500 gigs to begin with.
@StylesT Exactly what I do. When I'm done with a game, I'm simply done. I don't have the time or inclination to play more than 1 AAA game at a time anyway.
I'm thinking 80-100 GB for the PS5 version, I doubt it'll be anywhere near the PC size.
@Bentleyma Same here, though it is annoying that said games take alot longer to install.
Also the issue of some of us not having unlimited fast internet available.
It will surely be compressed on PlayStation?
@KidBoruto indeed, and, the industry is telling you that game streaming is the future, nevermind that pesky ownership
Never felt the need to upgrade my storage capacity... Until now, I guess.
@Nintendo4Sonic Or you could transfer to a HDD formatted for them, and not have to re-download.
They should give us a choice to NOT install multiplayer....
I can easy why well my usb 4tb hard drive keeps all my ps4 and ps5 games when I want to play ps5 game I just swap ones I play stay on ps5 others on hard drive example god of war Ragnarok and horizon forbidden west and rachet and clank and spiderman, assassins creed Valhalla, ghost of tutishima all on hard drive
