Bungie turned up to Sony's PlayStation Showcase with not one but two announcements. In addition to the unveiling of Marathon, the studio also teased Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the last chapter in the game's long-running Light and Darkness saga.
In the teaser trailer, we see a brief recap of what's happened throughout the game and its expansions. At the end, the return of fan-favourite character Cayde-6 is teased, and that's basically all we get. Well, at least for now. The video ends with the promise we'll see a lot more of The Final Shape at the Destiny Showcase, dated for 22nd August 2023.

I hope it will be the final dlc and they just stop this. It’s time to work on something new.
@Soulless666 This will be the end of the current Destiny storyline but it won't be the of Destiny (it makes too much money for that) plus they are making Marathon so it's not as if the entire studio isn't doing something else.
@Soulless666 this is only the end of "Light and Dark" story arc...
Cayde was a favorite character and I'm happy to see him make a return but I'm also over the series. I just can't get back into it anymore.
Even better than the return of Cayde is the return of Nathan Fillion as Cayde, after he was played by Nolan North for a spell - as confirmed by Bungie.
It smacks of desperation to me to bring back a supposedly dead character.
@AdamNovice @Soulless666 I'm predicting we'll be getting Destiny 3 a year or two after Marathon releases.
I love destiny's gameplay.. but its far too impenetrable at this point
I always knew Cayde would come back. Now that Commander Zavala has been laid to rest, we need him more than ever.
