Silent Hill fans could be eating well in the coming days if brash talk in the digital equivalent of the Mos Eisley Cantina is anything to go by. Insider Dusk Golem (who leaked the news that Silent Hill 2 was coming ahead of the official reveal) posted on TheSnitch's Discord channel that we'd be seeing trailers for the remake, Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill: Ascension "really soon."
Further, it was intimated this would be before the upcoming Summer Game Fest, which takes place between June 8-10, a little more than a week away.
Even if we do get to see a snippet, maybe don't hold our breath for the remake in particular, as developer Bloober Team has had some mixed-messaging issues recently, but it seems still a ways off. Are you excited to see some fresh Silent Hill footage? Sound off in the comments section below.

Similar to the Snake Eater remakester™, I struggle to get the vision. The original Silent Hill 2 is a game I’d label as one of the very few masterpieces in the industry as it has a very specific vision and gameplay works hand in hand with plot to create one cohesive game. Therein lies the problem. If you change the combat or other gameplay to be more modern then you’ll have to redesign encounters, set pieces and such to accommodate. For starters, tank controls make a certain chase sequence incredibly tense due to their limitations. I don’t have to be a fan of tank controls to understand how they’re used in survival horror games. Once you start changing core parts of the game to accommodate your apparently modernised gameplay, the direction becomes more and more muddled. Without the original director in the picture, a project like this can easily become tonally inconsistent, with separate interpretations of the source material existing alongside the original content. That’s probably most obviously seen in The Twin Snakes. I’m just not convinced that anyone really wants this remake deep down.
I wouldn't mind..Some more footage of, Silent Hill f..
I would love Konami to do the same as they have with MGS and release a collection of the original games. Even include the PSP and PS3 titles.
@TheLotteryMan1 I'm a little bit skeptical on SHf now after an article I read specifically on the writer itself where he keeps clinging onto the first horror story he made in every other project he does.
Hoping for suprise demo just like alone in the dark.
Let's hope it's the directors cut version, if true let's see what happens, this is so much better than what we got with the silent hill trilogy on the PS3, we all remember how bad that was lol
@huyi Wasn't even a trilogy, there were only 2 in that collection.
@nessisonett I get what you’re saying, but remember that creating a remake with updated visuals and controls opens the game up to a whole new generation of gamers that wouldn’t have otherwise experienced it. Think of the RE2 remake (or many of the RE remakes). I don’t know if you’ve gone back to tank controls recently but it’s quite horrible after not playing them for years. I for one am excited for the new Silent Hill 2 remake, let’s hope they deliver a great experience for old and new gamers alike.
I'm afraid SH2 will end up a trainwreck. Looking at Bloobers former games this is pretty much a AA studio taking on a AAA project, and that can quickly go AAAAH!
Hope I'm proved wrong though, and this ends up being a worthy remake!
I'm looking forward to Townfall the most out of the three mentioned here (Silent Hill f is the game I'm truly waiting on).
Ascension looks the least "Silent Hill-eque" game from the new titles and is looking to dangerously add new lore (and I fear that this is so it can lazily ignore existing lore).
I think the SH2 remake by Bloober will be good, but SH fans (like me) have drank the SH2 Kool-Aid a long time ago and any change will be criticised. It's a poisoned chalice. Good on them being brave enough to give it their all though.
I was hoping to have seen more footage on the PS showcase. I'm really excited to see more from these. Fingers crossed we'll see more in a couple days.
Another day a other rumour
I have high hopes for this Silent Hill 2 remake, and hope that Bloober is given the time they need to make the best game they possibly can. I enjoyed The Medium, despite its flaws, and definitely see growth there in their game development.
Konami, please show love, support, and patience to Bloober team while they craft their remake of one of the most beloved horror tales of all time.
Most likely at Tokyo Game Show if I had to guess, but I could see it being at Summer Games Fest as well, assuming Konami will be present at all.
@Scooby-Doo fair enough, there is only 2 games
@huyi Neither the Metal Gear Solid or Silent Hill HD Collections had the first game in their series in, which is a pain. I can only assume the reason for that is cause it would be too hard to bring the PS1-era graphics up to scratch. Just a guess, though.
@CKFilms The first trilogy, or first two at least, would be perfect.
@Scooby-Doo well at least they put the effort this time around I'm sure the games will look great when they release
@Ear_wiG As long as Bloober sticks to "remaking" and not "reimagining" I have hope.
@arsmolinarc Which I do believe they stated is their plan! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Good to hear, but I mainly want news on Silent Hill f.
@Breekhead remaking or remaigining old stories for a modern "audience" (or critics) nowadays tends to lead to disappointments. The story of the original RE2 holds up pretty well even for today's climate, but SH2's story pushed the limits with their themes of rape, femicide, fat jokes, sexualization of the female body, etc which is something that woke Twitter is against and they want everything to be tame and taboo nowadays.
So yeah, being a Western company developing this title as opposed to a Japanese one who have more freedom and are less poisoned about "not offending anyone" like Western companies are, I highly doubt the story of this remake will be even close to being as good as the original ones, they're going to censor things and play it safe a lot, which sucks.
@RBD I guess we’ll see when it comes out.
I would really like if the Silent Hill 2 remake got a trailer with a release date. I like this trend of Konami making games again but I don’t know how big a fan I am of them taking the Square Enix approach of LOOK A GAME. ITS A THING. ITS SURE COMING OUT. WHEN? I DUNNO 5 YEARS?????????
No, I'm certainly not interested in the remake/butchering of SH 2. I've the original that runs just fine for a almost 20+ year old game. The SH HD for the Xbox 360 was terrible & this one is heading to the graveyard.
Out of all 3 of those, I'm looking forward to playing the SH2 remake.
