Three things are guaranteed in this life: death, taxes, and the perpetual cycle of unsubstantiated Bloodborne remake / remaster rumours. It feels like this one comes around every few months without fail, usually exhumed by industry 'insiders' who don't know what the word 'source' means. And of course, with speculation over an imminent PlayStation showcase so rampant right now, it's no surprise to see FromSoftware's essential PS4 title slide back into the conversation.
All of this current whispering stems from David Jaffe, the outspoken ex-PlayStation developer who hosts regular discussions on his YouTube channel. Jaffe's latest show, which aired less than 24 hours ago at the time of writing, is all about PlayStation showcase rumours and expectations. As spotted by Reddit users, Jaffe brings up the long, long, long rumoured Bloodborne revival in the latter half of the video, and his words suggest that it's really happening.
Now, to be fair to Jaffe, he doesn't claim any direct knowledge of the supposed project β but him talking like it's real has been enough to spark all kinds of fresh speculation online. Head over to Twitter and you'll find more than a few gaming accounts and 'insiders' quoting the aforementioned show.
For the record, these Bloodborne remake / remaster rumours have been doing the rounds for years β but there's never been any real evidence to back them up. Would a return to Bloodborne make sense for Sony, which published the game originally? Definitely, given its popularity and commercial success, but it's been eight years since the action RPG first graced us with its presence, and that's a long time to go without any clear hints.
A Bloodborne revival isn't impossible, but these rumours come across as little more than wishful thinking. Until it actually happens, be wary of the old blood in the comments section below.

It makes no sense why it hasnt happned. It would be a guaranteed success. Im not much of a souls player but my friend would absolutely want me to get this XD
Uh what. Can someone explain this? Jeffe doesn't know anything internal. I watch some of his stream, all fine and stuff (besides him being an edge lord and the master of controversy to get clicks, but who isn't nowadays)... But he doesn't know anything about some game projects coming out or not. Jeez.
When will these BS rumours stop? π
Can't wait to play the Bloodborne remake on my Switch Pro
@Keyblade-Dan At this rate, when it actually gets announced. Which might be never!
I can't think of anything that'll be easier "money in the bank" for Sony than a Bloodborne remake/remaster π Do they even ever read the internet?? π€£
Make a sequel!! Or FromSoft make a new game using this combat style.
@Balie3000 I'm pretty sure they do but i'm willing to bet if sony does remake or remaster bloodborne they will do it when they feel like it rather then when some insider says that are.
@ShogunRok The worst part when these moron "insiders" keep screeching every week oh this is definitely happening guys trust me bro if the thing eventually does exist people are then like see man they know they totally said this was happening such a reliable source. Like yeah no s*** if you say every week that something will happen you're gonna look right if by some divine miracle it happens.
Blingborne? π₯Ί wots goin on
@Keyblade-Dan It's the way to do it. Just say something might be happening, never commit to it, and then when it doesn't happen, say "I'm checking back with my sources" and try again in a few weeks when everyone's forgotten about the original rumour.
Why would anyone want this? Just make a 60fps patch. It's the only ps4 pro game that never got a patch. Even ratchet got one.
As someone that has not played Bloodborne, as yet, I certainly hope that this rumour is true, as I would pre-order this in a heartbeat...
I would assume that if this is true (which it probably isn't), it'd be Bluepoint who'd be tasked with making it happen? I'd definitely be down for Bloodborne remake, but part of me can't help but hold out hope that Sony lets Bluepoint loose on a potential Bloodborne 2.
Note to PushSquare - ignore Jaffe.
@ShogunRok Legit it's infuriating
David Jaffe is about 1 bad day away from becoming a conservative radio host.
@Danloaded It actually makes a ton of sense why it hasnt happened and why Fromsoft specifically doesnt really talk of it at all.
It was their least selling soulslike game by a significant margin, and overall not a major success in terms of sales. So if even sony has power to push for a remake they would be doing going against the current model corporate schills use to decide whether to greenlight a project. As they probably see, and perhaps rightly so or perhaps not, that this is a very VOCAL but relatively small crowd that wants this to happen.
Which is totally flawed and these idiots absolutely should be doing a remake. Because the soulsike genre has grown in popularity, especially post Elden Ring and honestly before that. Thus, basing the decision on just on sales during a time when the genre was less adopted is just using bad data at this point.
I hope it does happen, but I don't want Fromsoft doing it if they continue to use their dated modality, tech, and technically deficient processes. I would want bluepoint to bust it out or perhaps just a sequel from a modern perspective.
@Balie3000 it's actually a REALLY loud minority. If I remember correctly Bloodborne only sold 2-3 million copies. That's not exactly gangbusters. I'd be all for it but I'm sure some of the hesitation stems from those numbers. But with the absurd popularity of Elden Ring that could easily boost sales for those that never played

Ideally we want Bluepoint games working on this, like they did on the Demon's Souls remake, but they are reportedly working on another game, rumoured to be their own IP. Should we hand this off to a lesser developer or wait? For me i'd rather wait for Bluepoint.

Can you even call it a rumour at that point? Fan hope is more like it.
I wouldn't mind a PS5 version if they release it alongside an actual sequel. The game is already almost perfect as it is. I want new content within its gorgeous world not another retread where some stuff might look worse artistically
I love the thumbnail lol
Iβd take a sequel over a remake, but thatβs just me.
@lacerz I don't really want a sequel Bloodborne's story and lore is fine as is I prefer just getting a new Soulsborne all together like From normally does. I just don't want more open ones like Elden Ring I much prefer the smaller games like DS, BB and Sekiro
I believe bloodborne is going to be remastered or remake.bloodborne is a instant classic.word up son

Bloodborne is a PS4 title. Why are people clamoring for a one-generation old game to get a remake/remaster, especially after the response to The Last of Us, Part 1 being remade? Make a second game, fine, but a remake so soon? Cβmonβ¦
Where can I preorder?
I'd much rather see a Bloodborne 2 than a remaster of a one generation old game for the sake of soemthing as arbitrary as an add'l 30fps. If we're gonna talk games or series in DESPERATE need of remake, how about the Resistance series? Man, I'd LOOOOOVE to see those get remade and upgraded to today's standards, MP and all.....
They need a triple-megaton showcase to silence the "nogaems" critics. Bloodborne Remastered or Bloodborne 2 would add up to at least 1.5 megatons
If they just put it on pc I'll be happy with that.
Bloodborne is guaranteed a remake/remaster at some point! I mean, Sony isn't dumb, they know we want it and they acquired Bluepoint so the chances are decently high I'd say.
If I were to bet on it I'd say Bluepoint were originally meant to be working on an original IP but Sony coerced them into doing the remaster when From said they didn't have time to do it due to Elden Ring, Amoured Core and the ED dlc. I don't think it's a Demon's Souls style remake. I also dont think this rumour is true anyway so I'm basically talking out of my dung pipe
@Keyblade-Dan Bloodborne's level design is phenomenal
@GodofCapcom A Demon Souls like remake would be fantastic that remake was a day and night difference. The stability and looks where fantastic the performance mode looked bloody fantastic.
@Brawl4002 Considering first sold less than 3m I think a sequel is a push tbh
@ShogunRok Jaffe posted a video on his twitter further explaining things. Might be worth updating article as it gives a bit more legitimacy to what he said too
Lol I suppose the pc port rumours aren't far off either then π
60 fps patch is good enough. A sequel would be sick though
@Mikey856 After Elden Ring, FromSoft has become a much bigger name. A BloodBorne sequel will sell like crazy.
Sequel yes... Remake/Remaster, hell no! Why waste the studios time, even if they'd hire another team. A 60fps patch would suffice, but still not essential.
@Brundleflies21 It really is personally I think Bloodborne is From Soft's opus
@Amusei well that what I was kind of hoping but still Bloodborne has been made out to be a lot bigger than it actually ever was. Incredible game though
Isnβt this somewhat legitimate? I heard that Bluepoint is remastering the first one and making a Bloodborne 2. That doesnβt seem so crazy with how Demon Souls turned out.
@RoliePolie91 let fromsoft design it and bluepoint do the actual devvβing π. Demons remake is nothing short of a masterpiece imo.
Bloodborne is good stuff. I went back and played a bit of the first part recently and was surprised at how easily I stomped all the bosses through Father Gascoigne.
I remember him giving me no shortage of trouble 7-8 years ago.
@Keyblade-Dan It is, in my humble opinion, the best game ever made.
@Brundleflies21 Yeah it's definitely up there I love it sooooooooooo much and god The Old Hunters DLC is incredible
Someone on here said Bloodborne remake to launch PS6. At first I thought nah but actually it might make sense, enough time would have passed, similar to Demon Souls for sure. Otherwise to be released in conjunction with PS5 Pro? Perhaps too soon, but a strong possibility. I think itβs a given at some point though, hence itβs been shown no love at all with no upscaling/60fps patch, etc.
@TeapotBuddha Thatβs all it needs is a solid patch or two.
Regardless if these rumours are substantiated or not, I could definitely go for a Bloodborne remaster right about now. It would help wash the taste of Elden Ring out of my mouth
@Nyne11Tyme It will certainly have the same success as the Demons Souls remake.. that is if it doesn't surpass it.
@Areus I was actually referring to all the fans that have been begging for this to happen for the last few years.
Please.
Also a sequel.
Wish they put a patch for bc mode on ps5 so it just runs smooth, sharp.
Given how well the Demon's Souls remake did it would make sense to remake Bloodborne or at least give it an upgrade. Maybe give it to Bluepoint? π€
Bloodborne Remake will be used to boost the sales of the next PlayStation console (which will be PS5 Pro near the end of 2024).
And no PC version will be done.
Just like Demon's Souls Remake.
Those are the only From Software-made IP's that Sony actually owns and can control.
Given the studio's renown, Sony's gonna use those 2 IP's as incentives to bring people over to PlayStation, and will keep them exclusive to their ecosystem, previous games and sequels alike.
Remake is too much for Bloodborne, I personally prefer a remaster
@JackiePriest again itβs only sold 1.4 mil copies
I am genuinely shocked at the complete lack of complaint at the idea of a remake of an 8 year old game, when a remake of a 10 year old game in TLou was slammed as a cash grab. Especially by 1 or 2 people on here that were very vocal about TLou remake themselves.
The game doesnt need a remake. Remaster sure, or at least a 60fps patch, i played it last year and had no issue with it at all.
To be fair, one of the original sources of this rumor was Colin Moriarty, who is a legit journalist with real industry connections. Which doesn't make it real, but lends it some credence. Now, he hasn't mentioned it for a couple years, so take it as you may.
And to those saying that this remake wouldn't be justified because Bloodborne is a bit of a niche title: it might be, but you need to see the big picture here. Bloodborne fans are the hardest of the hardcore. This is the sort of group that can make waves far beyond their inner circle. These are PlayStation evangelizers, influencers and so on. It is a super smart marketing strategy to appease this sort of customer.
4K, but 30FPS, but ray tracing, but only on a PS5 Proβ¦. And only in a parallel dimension on Tuesdays
People get angry at TLOU getting a remake because they say it hasn't been out long enough, yet they demand a remake of Bloodborne which came out years after. What's the logic there?
@somnambulance Is it 60 fps on PS5?
Still the only Souls game I havenβt beat, these rumors have been going on since the ps4 pro came out for increased frame rate. At this point if the game isnβt a remake I donβt know what Sony are thinking because it is a free money printing machine for them, especially on pc for the hardcore Souls fan base.
@Tr3mm0r No, but thatβs not enough to justify a remake! Just patch it or make a sequel that improves on the original. A patch is simply all this game needs.
@Powerplay94
I agree with you on the first part but I would argue GTA gamers are the kings.
do i want it to be real? of course. but i won't believe its going to happen till they actually announce it at this point.
Reminds me of Persona 3 Remake rumors lol.
Don't even get me started on "Bloodborne PC port!" Literally makes no sense to put one of their biggest exclusives on anything other than playstation. It would be like releasing Uncharted on Xbox. Literally doesn't make business sense.
Honestly, a 60 FPS patch for the original would make all the difference.... BUT in saying that, a full-scale remake would not be unwelcome!
I'm unsure what project/s Sony has Bluepoint working on since the acquisition? But surely Bluepoint would be the obvious developer to undertake this, based on their exemplary work with DeS.
Seems strange actually that this remake hasn't been pushed before now? It would be an absolute 'open goal' for Sony, especially since the success of Elden Ring and FromSoftware becoming less niche and more open to the casual market.
Any product with the marketing strapline "From the creators of Elden Ring" will sell effortlessly.... and Bloodborne also happens to be a class act.
(nb. I'd rather see a Sekiro sequel personally, but this is likely a personal sickness of mine and not an opinion attributable to the masses)
TLDR - Bloodborne remake would not be unwelcome at all, Sony would absolutely print money in doing so, and IMO Bluepoint are the perfect dev to pull this off.

As a big fan of Bloodborne I have no interest in a remake.
It was one of the best playing and looking games of the PS4.
Why on earth would you want to re-skin a game so new?
Have their been any skin jobs of great looking PS4 games?
TLOU doesn't really count as that was a remake of a PS3 game, the PS4 version was little more than make-up applied and thus there was a lot to improve upon from the base PS3 outing.
Really, have their been any PS4 remakes of good looking games that were originated on PS4? This really a thing?
Please don't be true. I'll end up buying again for PS5 and PC and never ever play any other game again.
No thanks! Never enjoyed the game they can keep their remaster remake what ever they wanna callit....
All I care about is being able to play it on my Steam Deck. Don't care whether it's a remake or just a PC port.
@somnambulance It is just enough to skip the game. I never played it but after i got my PS5 i will not force myself to play any 30 fps game at all.
Besides 60 fps question isn't about a remake.... it is just a patch.
I'll believe it when an official announcement happens.
Nah, there hasn't been a great one since the underappreciated Dark Souls 2. Now, that should get a remake.
Mhhhhhmm check please!
