There are benefits to being unpopular: your copy of FIFA 23 won’t break on PS5. EA Sports released a statement earlier this week confirming that it’s exploring stability issues in the soccer sim introduced in a recent title update. Its temporary solution? “Reduce your PS5 friends list to 100 or less friends and re-launch the game.”
Exactly why this issue is occurring is unclear, but apparently it’s not something the development team at EA Sports accounted for. We’re sure this will be fixed pretty promptly, but it’s an amusing issue nonetheless. Still, there’s never been a better time to cull your friends list – and if anyone asks, you can just blame FIFA 23!
Have you had any issues with FIFA 23 since the latest update? Are you a social butterfly with hundreds of PlayStation friends? You can read all the latest on the known bugs in EA Sports’ football franchise on the publisher’s Trello page. Meanwhile, work continues on successor EA Sports FC, with an official unveiling expected in July.

I am a lone wolf.
I don't like soccer games at all, so my PlayStation machines will working fine to play my kids games.
EA is king at ruining your console and games this generation so weird. But I rather not play FIFA then reduce the friendlist for this reason.
That thumbnail! Miss those press conferences with Robot Wilson!
EA just exposed their playtesters as a bunch of billy no mates.
This is the best way for a game to break. Only acceptable method.
I should be fine then....
Lol I bet Sony is thrilled a company is telling them to reduce an important engagement metric. Not that many people actually have 100 friends they regularly play with but still
Kind of a silly way to break the game. Thankfully I am not a big sports game person and I don''t have hundreds of friends.
No friends and no FIFA - will this still affect me?
This happens because people don't buy games at full price. I on the other hand would be more than willing to buy the "Hundred Friends DLC" at whatever price EA sees fit.
This is what gaming is all about.
This game breaks as soon as you open it!
EA purposefully breaking their games to sell the company off it seems.
