Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire might be worth keeping an eye on if you're a fan of RPGs. Developed by Chilean outfit Octeto Studios and published by PQube, this is a project inspired by genre classics like Skies of Arcadia. And yes, it's got turn-based aircraft battles.
Sky Oceans does look promising in its debut trailer, which you can watch above. A pleasant art direction and a fairly unique concept can go a long way. The game's coming to PS5, but we don't have a release window yet.
What do you make of this one? Try not to get shot out of the sky in the comments section below.

Moons, give me strength!
What i make of it is yet another indie trying to appropriate nostalgia when it doesn't deserve it.
This is nothing like skies of arcadia. Looks more like a cheap chibi Dragon Ball.
SoA has a whole aesthetic, feel and mythos built into it. It has ground and ship combat. It has ground and ship exploration. It has an expansive storyline. It's not just about getting into a plane and shooting stuff or gathering a crew.
Sorry if i'm coming out strong, but it just reminds me of that Soul Saga game that attempted the same bs.
I don't want bad indie games taking advantage of such an esteemed classic.
I would love for SEGA to make a sequel or even remake really. But these indie games have to stand on their own two feet and not what came before.
@Nem I agree. This was one of my first and favorite RPGs, but this game is closer to plagiarizing than homage. I'd love to see a remake/remaster or sequel.
@kyleforrester87 You missed out the 4 minute long animation while the GameCube chugs and wheezes.
Of course im gonna wishlist it, that game seems like good times.
but when am i gonna play it. i mean, look at 2023's lineup, its insane!
Skies of Arcadia the wish version
@nessisonett GameCube? Oh, you mean Dreamcast
@Samholy 100% agreed, the remainder of 2023's lineup is crazy big.

@kyleforrester87 I even still have a Dreamcast but actually only have the Cube version. Been playing the Dreamcast a lot this week and it still feels weirdly futuristic for the time period.
@nessisonett The disc spins up quite loudly for a second or two before random battles on the Dreamcast version, if you pop the hood the battle doesn't start - did that a lot lol.
This looks cool. Wants me make a Skies remaster/remake more, but guess this could work.
Looks enjoyable!

@Yayoi_KISARAGI Yes a very happy year for many gamers indeed .
Hope you have a great week!
@KidRyan You missed Spider man 2 which releases on 20th of October also Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 which releases on 24th of October
@Dragoon1994 I missed Spidey 2 and Metal Gear Solid Master Collection's release dates because I posted my comment in May 2023.
Spidey 2's release date wasn't revealed until June 8th at Summer Game Fest, and the MGS Collection release date was confirmed a few days ago during the recent Nintendo Direct.
@KidRyan Ah I see that’s a fair point
