Summer Game Fest organiser and host Geoff Keighley has just confirmed that over 40 publishers will be taking part in the event, which includes a live showcase on the 8th June.
Of course, knowing which companies are involved can lead to all kinds of speculation with regards to announcements and reveals. Potential headline acts include PlayStation (drop the bomb, Jim), Activision, Bandai Namco, Capcom, CD Projekt Red (that's Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty basically locked in), EA, SEGA, Square Enix (another look at Final Fantasy XVI?), and Ubisoft.
Given that E3 has been canned again this year, Summer Game Fest is going to be classed as a key opportunity for many a project. It's fair to assume that it could be quite an exciting event, even if bigger players like Sony will inevitably save all of their megatons for their own shows.
Do you have high expectations for Summer Game Fest? What do you want to see from all of these publishers? Start making some predictions in the comments section below.

Hope this year's Summer Games Fest isn't filled with shooters like the last few years
In Jeff we trust, keeping the e3 spirit alive. And if the games don't deliver, memorable cringe surely will.
Interesting seeing Amazon Games on there. That tells me there's a very good possibility that the new Tomb Raider could be shown.
Then with rumors of Uncharted 5 (starring Nate and Elena's daughter) after the last sizzler commercial and seeing Playstation will be there.
Then Microsoft will be there so Indiana Jones could be shown.
That's my trinity of gaming right there... Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones. This could potentially be a very good showcase. That said... I won't hold my breath.
Seeing Netflix on there made me slightly vomit in my mouth... but there are other good possibilities. Capcom has a chance to show they've been working on a Dino Crisis reboot (I don't expect it). EA is there so potentially the next Mass Effect could be shown (I don't expect it). Sega is there... so Shenmue 4 could be shown (I don't expect it).
With E3 now gone I'm quite looking forward to the summer game fest, I know some people don't like Geoff but I have to give him props for keeping these show cases alive and giving smaller studios a chance to show their games off to a bigger audience, whilst getting some big reveals in to keep the streamer counts up.
You can't deny the guy has a passion for games.
@Uncharted2007 I'm pretty certain it won't be tomb raider, it will most likely be the MMORPG Blue Protocol which is meant to be releasing this year.
Oh I love the cringe
I actually thought last years show was pretty decent so I’ll tune in once again to get my “E3” fix.
Seems odd for FF XVI to show up on June 8th then have their live streamed event on June 11 (presumably dropping the demo) then launch on June 22. But hey why not? 🤷🏾‍♂️
Seeing Gearbox Software on that list is giving me a glimmer of hope Borderlands 4 is getting a reveal.
And hopefully Namco show some more SynDuality.
Don't forget Sony's state of play last June also had the game fest branding, so the showcase might also have it
We need to remember that FF7 Rebirth is still scheduled for Winter 2024. So, it is possibly our first real look of that occurs.
Like a Dragon 8 or Gaiden news has to be near, Maybe something Persona related too like P6 or ports of 1 and 2?
Ew Netflix why are they there?
Come on Capcom, it’s time for some RE9 news
Bandai Namco need to give us a new Ace Combat with plenty of full PSVR2 support
If Sony is at Summer Game Fest does that mean they won't be having a showcase now?
Props to Keighley, he saw the oppertunity and pretty much hijacked E3. Lets hope this showcase is more quality over quantity reveals.
@Snake_V5 Sony still could do a Showcase or just simply a State of Play. They had a State of Play in June last year and still popped up at Summer Game Fest to drop The Last of Us Remake
Question : Do you have high expectations for Summer Game Fest?
Me : NO
I only care upcoming 3rd party kids games on PS4 / PS5.
I don't even care nor even like AAA / bigger games.
@BusyOlf Expect RE5 Remake.
@Uncharted2007 yep, but they have a tendency to alternate between remake and new with announcements so I’m expecting news about 9 before the remake 5 announcement (which will happen because it sold millions).
Always get excited for these type of shows. The only current gen console I own is a PS5 but I'm just excited to see games from all, even if it's not PS related at all. What other video game related content do we get on normal TV, absolutely nothing. Thats why I watch way more Youtube content more than anything else, cause theres actually so much gaming related variety of content on Youtube. Obviously a PS showcase will get me super sexy excited the most. Should go without saying keeping the expectations in check but still very much excited for it all. Can't wait
@Snake_V5 Sony being at game fest doesn't really mean a lot, it won't be any third party exclusives, and it could just be one reveal or one trailer of a first party game already announced. And then at their own showcase they show a lot more and have third party stuff too.
@Nepp67
Sorry about this bud but here I go.
Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, Pokemon, Sonic, Dragon Quest, Tekken, Onimush, Arcane, Monster Hunter, NinoKuni, Ingress, Dota, Dragon Age, Dragon Dogma, Cuphead, Rabids, Skylanders, Angry Birds. These are all shows that are on Netflix that are based on video games.
Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider, Bioshock, Beyond Good and Evil, Dragons Lair, The Division, Far Cry, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gears of War, and Exploding Kittens. These are shows, in various states of production, coming to Netflix, that are based on video games.
Zelda (probably canceled), Overwatch, Diablo, God of War, Devil May Cry, and Final Fantasy. These are RUMORED shows coming to Netflix that are based on video games.
Transformers, Terra Nil, Laya's Horizon, Exploding Kittens, Into the Breach, Spiritfarer, Oxenfree, Valiant Hearts, and many others. These are games that you can play on your phone for free with a subscription.
I know their subscription cost and the password-sharing thing has cast a pall over them as of late but they are the only streaming service that still give the creator control over their projects.
So those are some reasons. <Shrug>
Sony and Activision at the same event?
Sony is there make it cool.word up son
Pearl Abyss? Praying they show off Crimson Desert, and its not Vaporware after all these years
I hope they announce the next Deus Ex
Hoping for another look at Phantom Liberty and a release date.
GTA 6 or Persona 6 , or both.

Don’t really know how to feel about Geoff having a monopoly over the “big game announcement” shows but at the same time they’re never that great so idk
IDK the Geoff shows really just lack any kind of charm and charisma. I should be happy that some form of the old E3 live presser remains, but where E3 was big, important, and companies putting their everything into putting out the best possible presentation (or failing hard in trying) to whip up interest, these Geoff shows feel like nothing more than a pale youtube imitation of the real thing, with low budget presentations of scrap content barely assembled into a big commercial. It's better than the "Directs" but only barely. It's Geoff narrating a multi-company-Direct on a stage, and any guests on the stage feel like they're there as obligatory votes for "present" rather than going all out to hype their product. I'd legit take "Mr. Caffeine" again over a Geoff show.
