Look, we appreciate 8-bit era platformers have become dime a dozen during the recent PS Store boom, but sometimes an indie effort still manages to stand out from the crowd. Lords of Exile is very much one of those titles – it looks like a long lost Castlevania game for the NES from Konami, with its imposing gothic architecture and mix of hack-‘n’-slash gameplay and platforming.
There’s no release date in the trailer beyond a vague confirmation of “coming soon”, but it looks like a tidy little title, doesn’t it? One to watch, perhaps.

Ya this does look like a tidy little title.
This was/is a successfully funded kickstarter (if you want to see some more details)

I backed it and we haven’t had an update since February… in any case it looks to be turning out great! Seems close in quality or better than those Bloodstained 8-bit variants.
Talk about this game being a dime a dozen. That goes for most crap nowadays. It's either Metroidvania, roguelike, Soulslike, openworld. That's basically the industry today. Give me more retro that actually plays like a retro game, instead of tacking on ***** to try and make it appeal to usual today's crowd.
Looks good (in a 8 bit style kind of way) and the soundtrack is catchy, I'll play it if the game is good. Maybe on the switch though.
