Skautfold: Usurper is an action RPGin the style of a Metroidvania, with Soulslike elements sprinkled for good measure. Its name might not exactly roll off the tongue, but the combat looks tight, and the animations are slick, and it's available now on PS5 and PS4.
It helps that the protagonist seems so clearly inspired by Edward "the Fullmetal Alchemist" Elric, metal arm and all. Eldritch horrors have been unleashed by the other-worldly Citadel over London, and it falls on you to venture inside. There are apparently more than 90 different weapons and spells with which to craft builds across eight stats, and it sounds like it could be fun if you are up for a challenge.

Looks great, thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye on this one. That said it’s a crowded space
I'll probably check it out because i'm a big MV guy, but I'm still all about afterimage, so probably down the line in a sale.
I love me a good Metroidvania, really do, play them all, but by this point, the whole indie scene has become one giant tribute to the genre. I'm really reaching the fatigue point. I look at this and feel nothing.
@fabio78 Same, was one of my favourite genres but it's a very saturated market with few new ideas. I only play the best ones, or ones that have something unique.
Sure, I'm always down for more 2D castlevania games, one more games for my "Metroidvania" folder on either ps5 or switch
I wonder how this ties into "Shrouded in Sanity" I am very glad they changed it into a traditional 2D metroidvania from the 2.5D beatemup of the previous game.
Heads up: This one didn't review well on NintendoLife.
I mean, every reviewer has a different opinion, but at least you can read the review there to form your own opinion based on what was said.
I feel like it's more inspired by Leon Belmont.
@themightyant @fabio78 I highly recommend Afterimage if you feel MV and haven't checked it yet.
@Cordyceps Thanks. You are the second person to recommend this in as many days! Will check it out.
It’s only £11.99 and gets 7/10 on Steam, but yeah I think I’ll wait for a mini review. I’ve got After Image on my wish list too, but I’m determined to get through my backlog. I bought Tales of Arise 18 months ago and still haven’t started it!
MC look more Leon Belmont than Edward Elric tho
