Longtime PlayStation fans will recognise the name Siren, developed by a long-defunct offshoot of Japan Studio (Project Siren) and responsible for the three survival horror stealth games that comprise the trilogy. Sony is celebrating the series' 20th Anniversary, which has caused some to hold out hope for a revival.
PlayStation Japan posted the following Tweet, teasing the upcoming two-part celebration (click through for a translation option):
The original Siren was published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PS2 back in 2003 and tells the story of ten survivors of a supernatural apocalypse in rural Japan. Initially believed to be an earthquake, the majority of the population is infected with an infliction, causing them to bleed from the eyes, become almost immortal, and seek the blood of those not affected. From there, things take a turn for the spiritual, with both Christianity and Shinto Buddhism being involved to various degrees, in addition to undead monsters called shibito.
Did you ever play any of the Siren games? Would you check out a revival, if indeed one is in the works? Let us know in the comments section below.

Blood Curse on PS3 is superb, one of the few games I’ve found genuinely horrific and unnerving.
I remember playing Blood Curse as a teen. I had to steal my neighbor's WiFi to get the thing downloaded, and it took a week. It was worth it, and playing through that game is one of my fondest memories of the PS3.
Come on Sony. Revive this franchise.
They actually made the Gravity Rush games too, and were still active up to the closing of Japan Studio in 2021.
It’s very likely that the studio making Slitherhead is basically just the same team under a different name and now independent.
Played all 3 games! Wow, I thought Sony forgot about this entirely, seeing as it's been a good 15 years since the last title.
I could see them doing a remake that's also a sequel maybe?
I'd also just be happy with the trilogy being remastered.
Oh interesting il be all over this
I couldn’t find a shoe in the first siren and became hopelessly stuck, blood curse was fantastic though.
I started playing the PS2 version they put on PS4. Btw they will never revive this series unless they can turn it into a live service MTX machine.
Honestly if there's Siren Bloodcurse remaster in the works I'll buy it because Ive always wanted to play that one when I watched Pewdiepie's playthrough of it
They celebrated the anniversary of Silent Hill 3 on their socials right before the Playstation Showcase and nothing came of it.
Wow loved these games, it would be nice if it was a new game but I'd take a remaster.
isn't this just the psvr version they announced a few years ago. but was never spoken of again.
I have blood curse factory sealed on the shelf in my collection 🥰
@BeerIsAwesome omg yes! I remember that now haha
@Powerplay94 I'm pretty sure Japan Studios was technically restructured into Asobi Team, but the lay offs were so big Japan Studio is basically dead.
This is really cool to see. However I have no faith that modern day Sony would actually bring back something like Siren. And if they did it would only be a remake or remaster instead of something actually new.
Interesting how blood curse is so fondly remembered. I guess it was the most accessible while also being the least scary.
I'm glad Sony is remembering a game from a time where they were less risk averse and creative.
Siren is back.
AND IT'S A LIVE SERVICE GAME 👍👍👍
The best you guys will see from this are some old games added to PS+ Premium.
I blay siren on my ps3 a long time ago its a cool game.word up son
I think the best we can hope for are the PS2 SIREN games to be ported to the PS Store, but even that feels like wishful thinking.
@JustPlainLoco Pretty sure the original Siren game is on PS4, though I'm not sure if that means you can play it on PS5.
Honestly, I'm fine with them adding Siren 2 to PS Plus Premium as well as Blood Curse (with all the episodes). It's the best they could do because I highly doubt Jim Ryan would be interested in bringing back the franchise, depsite the resurgance of horror games right now.
The PS3 game started of slow but was fantastic by the end.
a basic remaster of bloodcurse and siren 2 would be welcome. north america never even got a release of the sequel on the ps2.
That big R is the sign of remake imo
Are they celebrating by shuttering studio Japan again?
