The UK was clearly ready for the arrival of the demonic ARPG Diablo 4, as the game has launched straight to the top of the physical charts. Selling the majority of its copies on PS5, it's a resounding success for Blizzard. The boxed copy sales in the UK reflect the game's performance elsewhere; the publisher reports it's the fastest-selling game in its history.
It means that Nintendo's open world epic, Tears of the Kingdom, has been knocked off its perch after several weeks at number one. Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy has moved up into third, while Street Fighter 6 shifts from second to fifth. Notably, both God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 have re-entered the top 10 in seventh and ninth respectively.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 10th June, 2023
- Diablo 4
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Street Fighter 6
- FIFA 23
- God of War Ragnarok
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
- Gran Turismo 7
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Particularly impressive for D4 considering a huge amount of sales will be on PC and thus digital.
Gave Hogwarts Legacy a try through the ps+ premium trial and, man, I was mighty impressed. Now all I need is to wait for a price cut.
Good to see God of War still doing well. Got my digital copy yesterday and look forward to finally playing it.
Do we know the % split for Diablo vs Xbox?
@Jamesblob I don't even think we even have a clear and mutual understanding of what Gaas games are.
@Cutmastavictory Diablo 4 is GAAS/live service as much as Borderlands 3 and Diablo 3 were.
@Cutmastavictory Hit the nail on the head. There is world of difference between something that is F2P and monetises everything, restricts what you can do etc. like Diablo Immoral and something like Diablo IV which is one of the most generous single player games of all time, hundreds of hours of content, but has ongoing content/ live service elements too.
We really need to have clearer language we all mutually understand to describe these rather grouping them all into one which is just unhelpful.
It's why everyone over-reacts when Sony says "we have 10 live service games in development" without factoring in some are things like MLB the Show, Destiny etc. that already exist. Far too many all immediately assume the worst.
@Mitsui I'm sure there are. But Diablo is a traditionally PC series and at the time D3 was the fastest selling game on PC of all time. But yeah, it'd be nice to get actual numbers. It's strange that we don't - outside of the Japanese charts.
@Jamesblob I have over 1000 hour in B3 and 500 in D3, I know what type of games they are.
What makes a game live service is ambiguous, to say the least, but I would consider anything with weekly/monthly balance updates and content updates to be a live service game, even if the said content is free. Also, must include coop or some sort of multiplayer.
I even consider GT7 a live service game, as much as Sony doesn't want to admit it.
@Cutmastavictory thought it was pretty straightforward that Gaas/Live service games were games that offer more content or differing content as time goes. Not involving quality of life patches or DLC.
So like events, cosmetic drops, seasons, item drops, new game modes, stuff like that
@Sil_Am I don't think it has to include co-op or multiplayer but those are the most abundant forms of live service. Might be mis-remembering but I think Sony did refer to GT7 and MLB The Show as current live service titles recently in a presentation
People told me that PlayStation is dead after the poor showing after the PlayStation showcase why are the consoles and games still selling 🫠.
@Mitsui - I doubt they will ever show those numbers. Especially if there are a lot of PS5 players. That would be saying 'Look, this is how many players and sales we are going to lose when we are no longer truly multiplatform'
@4kgk2 Anyone that said PS is dead is out of their minds. The system is selling like crazy, still has Spider-Man 2 and many others coming and i picked up SF6 for it and i rarely buy anything 3rd party on Sony consoles. PS5 is great and will continue to be great, they didn’t have much to show 1st party wise but when they do it will all be forgotten by those nay sayers and the overreacting crowd will be back on the bandwagon. Competition is good and this year Xbox showed they have some great games in the pipeline. This is what will make the industry even bigger and better, a Xbox that don’t suck and a PS that has competition.
@cuttlefishjones
Hopefully, that never comes to pass.
Diablo is a top 3 franchise all time for me, Diablo 4 is insanely great for me. I have it on Series X, but i am thinking about double dipping and getting a copy for PS5 at some point. Just to have it. The great thing is the game has cross play. My best friend has it on PS5 and i have it on Series X and we played for 2 hours the other night together, worked flawlessly.
I'm having a blast in Diablo 4
Just hit level 30 with my shadow built rogue.
@theMEGAniggle the fact that you said Gaas/ live service games as though they are synonymous, but yet people aren't using them interchangeably. I think it would be better if people didn't speak in generalizations also. Instead of having a broad stroke opinion on live service or Gaas games (they aren't the same), just say why you don't like a game, being always online can't be a reason you don't like a game by itself. But being 30fps.... nvm.
@Green-Bandit competition is good consolidation is not. So I partially agree with you.
@Cutmastavictory alright, what's the difference between games as a service and live service games? I am genuinely interested to learn if there even is a difference
I use them interchangeably because to my knowledge, there is very little distinction between the two. It's not like saying coke zero and diet coke, because in the case of Gaas or live service games there's nothing really different. Just different ways of saying the same thing
Shouldn't every person in the world own Mario Kart 8 by this point? Never seen anything like it.
@Mitsui
I didn’t play it till a day after release but it’s shockingly stable so far. I kind of expected constant disconnects for the first week or two as the servers got demolished by the huge numbers of players but they’ve been good so far.
Even the Queue isn’t crazy. The longest I had to wait was like five seconds.
@NinjaNicky
The game is in a really good technical state on PS5.
I can’t speak about the other versions. But the PS5 version and the netcode is super solid.
@ApostateMage
I’m level 25 as a Fire build Sorceress currently.
I can’t wait for the seasonal content to get here so I can start building seasonal hardcore characters to experiment with the other classes. That was my favorite part of Diablo III.
@Cutmastavictory consolidation doesn’t bring ABK games to places they were never going to go and not taking them away from platforms they were on. I would agree if COD and other’s were being taken off PS and other places to grow their business. Thats shady and i wouldn’t be for it. It wasn’t consolidation when they bought Minecraft. Now time will tell, but from what we have to go with today that can’t be said. But i won’t be happy to see PS lose games just for the sake of it. I am all for the ABK sale. I think it’s a good thing for the industry, but don’t hurt players in the process and MS is giving no indication that’s the plan. 😊
@OrtadragoonX how is the fire sorcerer? I have an ice/electric build and he shreds. I am level 24 with that, 27 with barbarian and 16 Rouge. It’s my game of the generation unless we get something from Red Dead Redemption and i doubt that. That game only sells 50 million units, so the focus is on GTA that sells 120 million units this gen it looks like.
@Green-Bandit
It’s pretty good. I’m doing a Firewall focused build. You get the bonus skill that increases your mana regen for each firewall you cast up to five times.
So every engagement I place down a hydra for some early damage and then start putting firewalls down on both myself and at the big enemies. After that I switch to fire bolt to build Mana real fast. Then start throwing down more firewalls.
Also I abuse fire shield every time I get the chance. It’s a hugely OP skill. Deals huge touch damage and makes you invulnerable. Cooldown time sucks though but that’s what all the Firewalls are for.
I’m gonna modify the build in the late game once I can get legendary equipment.
@OrtadragoonX man that sounds fun. My build is more freeze them in place which keeps them from hitting me and then bolting them to death, freeze the ground and bolt them. Does massive damage and keep most enemies off me. Teleport is really nice as it get’s you out of traps and walls. Diablo is always a game that is so fun to reset your specs and build it differently. I love that part. So glad you are enjoying it.
@Green-Bandit Bethesda already said Stanfield and red fall were in development for playstation. So yeah. They were taken away.
WOW!!! No GTA V!!! Has world really turned into hell?
I wonder if the resurgence of GT7 has anything to do with the fact that PSVR2 has been available at retail stores.
The symbiotic relationship that some key games - Gran Turismo, Resident Evil - have with the headset is certainly an important reason that drove Sony to keep investing in VR. It strengthens and invigorates the whole ecosystem.
@Cutmastavictory they were in development but they fall under new IP’s and it is fair to say Xbox going forward after spending nearly 80 Billion cash would want something to attract to their ecosystem. In fact it was also said Sony was trying to get a timed deal on Starfield. So when Bethesda went up for sale MS was smart to acquire them. That’s good business. But i do think games that have large install bases from older games should be on PS. However Sony isn’t to bad at money hatting and making sure games stay off PC and Xbox and even sometimes switch. They just don’t have enough money to buy the whole studio and MS does. I want exclusives to be next to gone. They start console wars and keep the games back from reaching more players. So i am caught in a catch 22 as i know why they have exclusives but at the same time i am having so much fun with my friend playing Co-op Diablo 4 and he’s on PS5 and i am on Series X and it works flawlessly, as we remember Sony was a big anti cross play supporter.
@Smash41 negligable id guess.
