RoboCop: Rogue City brings everything that made the original IP such a stone-cold classic, with excruciating one-liners and a darkly comedic vision of a future that requires a firm hand regarding justice. Previews for the game are going up, such as this look at the title from GameSpot.
While the gameplay doesn't look like the most exhilarating thing we've seen from a shooter, the dedication and faithfulness to the aesthetic intrigue us. RoboCop is such a perfect video game protagonist, and we could see ourselves handing out summary executions like they were going out of fashion, so we'll keep an augmetic eye on this one.
RoboCop: Rogue City will hit the mean streets of Old Detroit in September. What do you think of it so far? Has your interest been piqued? Let us know in the comments section below.

Why as a robot would I have to aim on my own? Shouldnt I as a robot have automated aiming.
If it’s at least a 7 it’s an insta buy for me. I loved RoboCop when I was a kid.
@claytortot213 It looks like a 3 or a 4. I’ll still buy it. Haha.
@durxll123 that's actually a really good point 👉 👈 👇 🤔 but I'm guessing we gotta do it for the sake of playing the game
@SoulChimera Yes and Yes to this. I don’t think it looks quite that bad but yeah… it could be trash and I’m buying it lol
If this was 3rd person, I would consider it, after the gameplay video, no.
@claytortot213 I appreciate and echo this sentiment
@durxll123 concept behind Robocop is he still had a human brain, and all technology is not that much more advanced than 80s tech. He basically had a hud that slowly recognized targets and marks them for the brain to confirm if to shoot there or not.
Basically like the targeting hud you would see in planes and tanks computers from back in the 80s.
@durxll123 [EDIT: -Android-] Cyborg, not robot. It's still a human brain and human reflexes, with a largely metal and hydraulic body that isn't the fastest. It's the definition of the tank character.
And if it doesn't have a story that's much different from the movies, so what? The movies were solid, and most kids these days probably haven't seen them.
If you can forge your own path, becoming a bad cop and dealing with those consequences, that might just be a bonus.
It looks jankier than a ED-209 attempting to riverdance, but I'll take it!
I think it looks cool ill buy at the right price.
Terminator game by these devs was a hidden gem. I'm willing to give this a chance.
I stopped watching igns vids long ago ✌️
@durxll123 There is a moment in the movie where he takes his helmet off and readjusts his aim as he is missing in a Rocky like training montage. They could easily say that he wants to be more human and disables some of his tech, that would fit with the story, but perhaps enables it for some special move (take out 5 guys in quick succession for example)
Personally think it looks like a fun game, I like that it has rpg elements too. And the reviewer moaning that the story follows the films to closely as a bad thing would only make sense of they were modern films. I can imagine a lot of younger gamers have never seen the movies and will enjoy murphy's struggles with his new reality.
I will be buying this. I miss Robocop
I like this. Sure hope that the game will be balanced a bit better but it looks cool.
@RobN robocop is a classic ,2 is just alright and let's not mention 3
Everything the guy in the video moaned about is everything I wanted in a Robocop game 😁
Really looking forward to this because the Terminator game was excellent. This dev understands their audience.
@durxll123 It's similar to "Terminator", where the cyborg gets data shown on an in-eye display... which he then reads and analyses? 😅 Well, that is the charme of 80s sci-fi.
@durxll123 If we're playing as the robot (Or cyborg? What is RC, exactly?) Then aren't we also playing as the auto aim?
He's not a Robot or an Android, @RobN @Drago201 @Fyz306903 @durxll123, he's a Cyborg, so he is part robot and human. Apparently, the correct way to describe him is as having both organic (in this case human) and biomechatronic body parts. I'm guessing the need to aim is down to his human side...
Agreed, @tallythwack. Have you seen the short-lived TV series?
@Fiendish-Beaver I kinda forgot how he was configured it's been awhile but yeah it makes sense
“Bitches……leave!”
After Terminator: Resistance I'm really excited for this
This looks like it could very much be a game of two halves, the gunplay looks like a slog, but the detective game side of things looks interesting.
@BusyOlf
“I work for Dick Jones!!!”
I'd rather play as Clarence Boddicker. One of my favourite movie villains ever.
Another unreal engine 5 game coming out - we will start to get a better idea of what the engine can really do.
I’ve had my eye on this since it was announced and I dig shooters so I’ll definitely end up playing this, but likely only after it’s gone on sale. I just can’t see paying $60-$70 for this.
@ItsBritneyB_tch it's GameSpot. All they do is moan. Game looks great to me
I’d buy that for twenty dollars.
@RobN. Cyborg not android. An android is a machine shaped like a human.
Da da da daaa daa
Da da daa daaa
The original game music just became my latest ear worm...
3rd person Robocop would of been better. Not sold on this one at the moment.
@Stevemalkpus Doh! You're right, of course. Where's my head?
Not in a mechanical body, I know that much.
@RobN i don’t think the original Robocop movie was made with kids in mind. 😂😂😂
I watched it on release tho, i’ll have been 11. 😂😂
@TheArtfulDodger Neither was Jurassic Park, but there were toddlers there opening night, crying as the dinosaurs ate people.
Gameplay sold me, but I'll probably still wait for a dirt cheap sale in a few years.
@Fiendish-Beaver I have not,is it really terrible 😂
I haven't seen it either, @tallythwack. I was hoping that, if it's bad, you could have saved me the pain....
Being a huge RoboCop fan (it's my favorite film), I'm definitely getting this, especially after playing their Terminator game. There is a reason I still occasionally play "RoboCop vs The Terminator" on my Sega Genesis. It's pretty much the last good RoboCop game that anyone has made, lol. I'm super excited for this.
“They’ll fix me. They fix everything.”
@captainaverage
Dude was a total nutcase.
Best part is the casting. Kurtwood Smith looks like a guy you would see working behind the office counter at an Electricity supplier company. Clarence is just a total Psychopath. So the dichotomy of Kurtwood’s appearance (a middle aged officer clerk) combined with his psychotic portrayal of Boddicker is just peak villain to me.
@RobN you’re comparing Robocop to Jurassic Park!!??? Have you seen the original movie??? It’s very violent, has cocain usage and lots of brutal, gruesome deaths. They don’t make movies like that any more in todays woke, everyone’s offended world!!
@durxll123 you are the robot in the game
@TheArtfulDodger Comparing things don't mean they're identical. Robocop was rated R, so it was pretty clear it wasn't for kids. Jurassic Park was PG-13 - clearly less intense (thus the lower rating), but still inappropriate for young kids, and rather famously surprised a lot of parents who hadn't bothered to pay more than the most superficial attention to the marketing for it. That was the point - kid seeing material they may not be ready for. It can happen a lot of ways.
And while they did remake Robocop (I haven't watched the remake to see if it's any good), I think they could still do a lot with the violence today. For some reason we're more offended by someone saying a word prevalent in Huckleberry Finn (which is a powerful story attacking the roots of racism) than we are watching someone's body parts shot off by gleeful villains. The level of violence was noteworthy back when it came out, too - there wasn't much out there in mainstream releases that pushed quite as far as Robocop, at least not outside the horror genre.
Yup.. rigid; robotic I like some innovation on my FPS with regards camera movement. Type of stuff that gives folk motion sickness nightmares this seems like a (robo)copout
@OrtadragoonX *"They'll fix you...They fixed everything"....😏
@RobN the remake is terrible, think its pg 13 ,gremlins was a 15 when it was released also.
