Sony's own Helldivers 2 could be set to join the long list of high-profile games releasing in October if a leaked document is to be believed. Handed to Insider Gaming, a file sent to members of a Sony partnership program supposedly calls for content creators to "mention that the game will be released in October". A specific date within the month isn't stated.
The PS5, PC title was revealed for 2023 during Sony's latest PlayStation Showcase, and with an ESRB age rating posted online over the weekend, more news could be close. It's been given a Mature rating for "additional blood-splatter effects and dismemberment. Players can also shoot and kill human civilians during rescue missions."
Of course, much has already been made of how packed October 2023 is for game releases, with Sony already planning to release Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in that month. Furthermore, there's Assassin's Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Alan Wake 2, the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, and Alone in the Dark launching inside a single two-week time span. On top of all that, this year's Call of Duty game hasn't been announced yet, and more recent entries have opted for an October release date.
If the leak is true, would you make time for Helldivers 2 in October? Plan your gaming time in the comments below.

Yeah, cause people will buy and play everything all at the same time. None of the games coming out in October will get ignored because so many are coming out at the same time. Everybody has 4 or 5 PS5's, TVs, and $500 to buy and play these games all at the same time...
I hope for the Studio its not true. The biggest PS5 exclusive Game also launches in October and the month is super stacked overall
September and October are a busy month for me. Starfield, Forza Motorsport, The Crew Motorfest, Spiderman 2, Assassins Creed, Super Mario Wonder.
Obviously not playing them straight away, but it definitely seems to be the time to release games.
If this launches in October, it’s almost sure to get passed up by a lot of people unless it reviews very well. This isn’t exactly a game the kids are going to be asking for at Christmas, you know? Not sure why the industry is deciding to make October so thick. On October releases alone, most would have enough games to play all year.
Still haven't tried Helldivers or know anything about what it is. Might have to give it a blast and see if 2 will be added to my list
Release in December on PS+ day one.
@somnambulance It could be FTP given that's a common tactic for live service.
@Grumblevolcano I have a feeling it won’t be F2P, but that’d essentially be the only way to make it stand out from the rest of its gaming company in October.
I might have actually got to 100,000 kills on the first one by then.
October would surely be a death sentence at this point right? November would be better (tho COD will probably occupy that) or maybe even December which only really has Avatar
I've never played Helldivers but this looks awesome, like Outriders mixed with other titles.
All I heard was spider-man 2 and Helldivers 2 as nothing else
@KaijuKaiser You're not wrong and this may be able to survive given that it will have a somewhat different crowd, but my comment was also in general about so many games coming out at the same time. It just comes off as a bit dumb to add yet another one to the bunch, just like Hollywood does with movies on Christmas Day.
I do hope it turns out to be good regardless for the people interested, but it is puzzling with publishers think it's a good idea to keep adding more games to an already overloaded month.
Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers 2 in the same month, gonna be a fun October.
I bought on day 1 but just finished final fantasy 16 since I have little time gaming and I don't like rushing through a game. Since I'd like to play ac mirage, Alan wake 2 and not to mention several other games upcoming in August and September, when I get to play spider man a whole year will pass but at least there are bunch of good releases this year. In last year I played only 3 games.
Alot of peeps worried this will pass people by because of the launch month. Anyone who played and enjoyed the original probably won't care about the rest of the games out and will go straight to this. I know I will, the 1st was great as a top down shooter I reckon the change of perspective will only add to the mayhem. I am stoked.
