If you've somehow never played The Witcher 3, then you may be interested in knowing that a trial for the landmark RPG is now available through PS Plus Premium. The four-hour sample can be played on both PS5 and PS4, but it's worth noting that the PS5 version is the much enhanced Complete Edition, which launched last year.
Now, four hours isn't going to get your very far into what is a dark fantasy adventure that can easily take over 100 hours to complete, but if you've always wondered what all the fuss is about, it's probably worth a shot. While we dare say that parts of The Witcher 3 haven't aged all that gracefully, it's still one of the most impactful and memorable RPGs on the market, largely thanks to its stellar storytelling, engrossing world building, and immaculate character writing.
And hey, if you do give the trial a go and you end up enjoying it, the PS4 version is on sale practically all the time, and can upgraded to the aforementioned Complete Edition on PS5 for free.
Will you be trying The Witcher 3 with this PS Plus Premium trial? Whistle for Roach in the comments section below.

The complete edition is just $25 on psn right now, so now it's the right time to try this game if you haven't played it yet
Top 5 all time easy
While it's cool to see trials available at all, it's been a huge disappointment of a feature for me. The trials have almost exclusively been old games. Witcher 3 is a free PS4 upgrade and the disc is very cheap.
4 hours is easily enough to get addicted and purchase.
@TrickyDicky99 yeah this game should go down in history as most overrated game ever
If you never played it, do it now. It's hands down one of the best video games ever made.
Ah, yes. A trial for a 8 years old game. That is indeed good news.
@TrickyDicky99 Took me four times, but friends kept badgering me to play it, and now… I’d say it’s a 10/10 even with the clunky combat. It’s an acquired taste.
@Skeletor85 Sure, buddy
Hey I want to try this game . Is the combat on the ps5 version fixed or better ? I remember trying it when it first released and never played it again as I thought it was kinda clunky. But I was younger and inexperienced so it might be me .
Just buy it, benchmark game.
Loved this game! Main Campaign took me 95 hours but that was doing most of the sidequests although I had a ton of '?' all over the map still to investigate.I was planning on going back and starting the expansion recently but could just not get back into it..
Hands down one of the greatest games of all time. Playstation really wants to make game trials a thing. Feels weird to do that for a 7 year old game that's constantly on sale for like $10.
Didn't realise they gave Bloodborne a free trial.
This game is so great. Probably my favorite game of the PS4 era.
If you try it on PS4 you'll spend half that time in load screens.
It's a shame for the people who can't get into this game. As Frank Carson used to say, it's a cracker.
After hearing all the praise The Witcher got, I gave it a try. Didn’t gel with me at all. Combat is super important in action RPGs and I felt like it was very ‘floaty’ and imprecise.
These days I feel like developers like FromSoftware and Team Ninja have implemented combat in such a way that everything seems really crap.
I think most of the people who want the game have it by now. I have two copys of it one for PlayStation and one for steam.
@Skeletor85 not a gamer then eh? give your head a wobble lol
I'll say it again, this is not a premium feature and I'm sick of them (Sony) pretending it is
It's a demo. They should be free to anyone with an interest in the full game.
I remember thinking the combat was horrible during my first hour or two with W3. Then out of nowhere it all just clicked.
Easily my favorite rpg of all time, warts n all.
A demo for an almost decade old game getting it's own article and 27 (28) comments is impressive.
That's more than enough time to get addicted to Gwent!
