As Sony announces its sold more than 40 million PS5 consoles, the firm looks to want to ship a few more with haste as discounts on the system have gone live in more territories. In the UK, you can head to the likes of Amazon or PlayStation Direct and save £75 on the price of a PS5. The offer will be available until 10th August 2023. Discounts are also expected across Europe and the USA within the next day or so as a result.

Amazon also have 15% off on select accounts making it around £360? Bargain!
Definitely clearing stock before the new model is announced. Good bargain though for anyone not yet owning one.
Whoa, that's a great deal. £405 for a disc PS5. Will boost sales even more, however it also seems to me likely a slight stock clearance ahead of the rumoured newer model in time for xmas.
Good deal, but you said "it's not clear how long the deal will be available for". On Sony Direct it states
"Valid 27/07/2023 22:59 - 10/08/2023 22:59" So only about 2 weeks.
PS5 Slim is almost certainly on its way.
Black Friday deals should be great
It's live at £399.99 across all UK retailers now. For anyone curious there is no PS5 slim, just a slightly smaller digital version with a plug in on the disc drive side under the removable case.
On this new model the disc drive is sold separately. But it basically looks like a slightly smaller PS5 digital.
@Darylb88 Where did you see it at...if anything it would look like the disc version with an empty space, the PS5 digital has no disc space beneath.
@TheArt At work, it is just an updated model internally but on the outside it's almost the same console. If you take the bottom cover off the new digital version (2000) there is a plug in port when the disc drive can be plugged in then you fit the disc drive casing with comes which the disc drive.
This is a bit better. Just a pity that it has come at the worst possible time for me, so probably won't be able to take advantage of this... oh well.

Smyths Toys £399
Still holding out for next gen. (And games)
The dualsense controllers are on sale for £40 as well, for anyone interested.
@StripedTomato All the colours are £40 at Smyth's toys, I just got the disc console and camo controller for £440 with free delivery.
@TrickyDicky99 sound like ps vita failure all over again.
Nice marketing move Sony raising price $50 and then slash it $75.
@MrMagic
That's more likely a discount. Not like the other day when amazon or gamer sites announced amazon prime deals in a month advance. .. which ended up like £55 for a controller 🤔 what a "deal" it was 😂
@Darylb88
That is a bit disappointing then if that Is all the new model is going to be. I was hoping it would at least look a little smaller and compact / neater. Perhaps they will bring out a slim model when they launch ps5 pro next year, like they did with ps4 slim / ps4 pro. I might consider getting a ps5 in the next few weeks then at the discounted price, if there is no difference with the new rumoured model. I could always trade it in if there is actually a ps5 slim this year and it looks much better 🤔 😂
@TurboTom Yeah I would say getting a PS5 with a disc drive at this price is a great option. Soon there won't be a disc drive option. I think the Spiderman 2 sets are the last 1200 models going out. I think with this 2000 slightly smaller model they probably did look at making a much slimmer version but it wasn't feasible yet given the power supply and cooling system size requirements. The clearest indicator before I found out was the Spiderman 2 limited edition in the 1200 model. Even before I even found out from work Tom Henderson said it wouldn't be a slim version which I agree is a shame.
I actually saw on for sale for £399 on sports direct of all places
@silverspeed There's an even better deal at Currys the day, the same price but they through in a copy of the Lego Skywalker Saga.
@Darylb88
I think sony will probably still sell it in two different versions, with disk drive and without. With how you explain it then it would still be more simple for sony to manufacture the single unit and just add the disk drive and appropriate covers when putting it together 🤔 it does seem a bit of a hassle though for people buying the digital version and upgrading it to a disk drive but makes sense for sony i sopose. Yeah I will probably try and get one in the new week or so on sale.
@TurboTom I can safely say from what I am seeing at work there is only 1 version, a slightly slimmer digital version with the plug in behind the bottom casing for a disc drive to be slotted in (sold separately). It is a drive to push the new digital at a lower cost but give disc drive fans the option to add a disc drive (for addtional cost). It is what they should have done from 2020 but it's done now.
This is why they are clearing the 1200 series disc drive stock. I would expect the see the 1200 digital PS5 go on sale after the disc version comes off sale in mid Aug. I think it runs until the 10th for disc drive.
Sale that has no option to show all VR games on sale. Typically Sony
@Darylb88
Interesting, thanks for the replys. I do wonder though if that will be a mistake for sony, because they mainly sell the physical version anyway. Although without the option it will force more people to go digital. Do you think £400 will be the new price for digital only going forward?
I've been putting aside money for a PS5 all summer, so I'm pretty anxious for this sale to hit the US. Fingers crossed 😅
PSVR2 is a wonder machine and I refuse to listen to anything negative about it. I just wish that Sony would show some effort.
