If you’ve ever found yourself sucked out of a deeply historical series like Assassin’s Creed due to its reluctance to adopt the mother tongue of its otherwise meticulously detailed backdrop, then Mirage may just win you back. As part of Gamescom Opening Night Live earlier this week, French publisher Ubisoft showcased a new trailer confirming the title’s “full Arabic voiceover”.
While this feature was announced as far back as last year, this is our first time actually hearing the audio in action. Obviously, it’s hard to speak specifically to the quality of the translation, but it certainly sounds authentic and heightens the 9th Century Baghdad backdrop significantly. Is this the way you’ll be playing the game? Journey to the Middle East in the comments section below.

I played Unity the second time in French and it was really cool. Obviously that’s cause they’re a French dev so not every setting has that option until now.
This is pretty awesome. Don’t know if I’ll use it, but nonetheless, having choices is great.
Fantastic!
I've played all AC games in the language of the country they take place when possible (so mainly the Ezio trilogy and Unity) and I missed the option for Origins and Odyssey.
With this options, it will be even better as I guess the modern parts will still be in English.
@PixelDragon A 20-minute old account with one comment under it!
But will they be speaking Arabic with a British accent…
Fun fact the Animus translates languages so this would actually be breaking canon for an English speaker.
That’s cool they’re doing this.
@NinjaNicky I did the same for Ghost as I always look for "original" language options, but hear me out, then I also played Ghost with English voice acting... and I was blown away. They did it so well... you'd almost forget they were speaking English.
This is great - I’ll definitely use this option.
I wonder how they’ll approach the LGBT representation in this one? The last few AC games have gone big on the LGBT representation but the Middle East is hardly a haven for LGBT people.
As a gay person myself I’ve always found this aspect of AC unrealistic because the fear of persecution and death would have been very real back then (and still is today in most Middle Eastern countries, sadly).
It will be interesting to see what they do.
Hmm, maybe this 🗣️ voiceover setting will help me learn Arabic vocabulary 📝 that would be useful in my study of the Quran. 📖
It also benefits me that I’ve wanted to play Assassins Creed 🥷 ever since III Remastered on the Wii U, but for whatever reason I’ve never actually done so. 🤷🏻♀️
Has there been any news on the 👩🏻🦯 accessibility ♿️ options in this upcoming game? 🎮
I used to play PES with Spanish commentary. Well better.
@XboxTheBestBox
Arabic is most certainly a beautiful language. Their architecture is also gorgeous. I’ve always had a fascination with it.
I love playing Japanese games in Japanese and the Metro games in Russian, so when I play this game I'm glad I get the option to play in Arabic
Why would they do that? Are there lots if Arabic speaking players ? Also why is this news ..? Is there anEnglish language option ? And is there french, German, Dutch etc etc ? Isn't different languages a thing in most games ?
I suppose the real question is....isn't this a non story?
@TrickyDicky99 Well it was originally Valhalla DLC so of course its on PS4.
@ItsBritneyB_tch Doubt they will have much if anything. I don't think Basim's love life will play a part especially as "he" is already very committed to someone else.
@TrickyDicky99 And? This was originally designed like every other bit of Valhalla DLC to be on PS4, its even literally the same engine and unlike some Horizon DLC this is now a full game appealing to a larger number of people. End of the day what would you think dropping PS4 would do for it? Its a budget Valhalla Epilogue not a full blown new entry. Anyway the Horizon DLC could have been on PS4 with a few minor adjustments.
@TrickyDicky99
Couldn't you tell? It looks exactly like Origins and Odyssey.
