Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, after much teasing, has been laid bare, with Activision releasing an explosive gameplay reveal trailer. A direct sequel to last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, we got a good look at what the next COD looks like, with a helpful writeup over on the PlayStation Blog filling in the gaps.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty, all 16 core maps from the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2 have been modernized and readied for MW3's launch (along with new ones). Activision says these golden oldies will retain their authenticity while benefitting from the series' more modern tech, modes, content, and more. Not the least of which, there's a new game mode called Cutthroat, a treacherous-sounding 3v3v3 affair.

Perhaps most exciting to our eye, the largest Call of Duty Zombies map yet is coming, where players can team up with other squads to survive hordes of the undead. Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ), as it's called, will feature missions and core Zombies features in a tense PvE survival experience against some of the largest enemies in the series' history.
Along with another suite of campaign missions, Open Combat Missions purport to change things up. Players can go in guns blazing or utilise night-vision goggles and silenced weaponry to approach mission objectives as they see fit. Both Ground War and War modes will return, with three big maps where Ground War matches will take place. A single, colossal War map has been promised as well, a returning game mode from 2017's Call of Duty: WWII.
What do you think of the next Call of Duty offering, will you be partaking? Let us know in the comments section below.

The fact they would release all of the og mw2 maps for mw3 tells me this was for sure initially going to be dlc for MW2..and there wasn't initially going to be a full release this year
The modest reactions on this game here in the comment sections on PushSquare show me that the brightness of the star CoD is probably fading a bit. And that with or without Xbox exclusivity.
Wow they just remastered the old MW2 MP maps........pity on people who still become excite and buy new COD every yr....hats off to them .. Legendzzzzz....
I enjoy COD quite a bit and will likely get this around launch. But considering what’s on offer there’s little doubt in my mind this was planned as a DLC from the get-go and $70 is a seriously steep asking price for that. I have the disposable income for something like this but for others who don’t? Bit of a rip-off if you ask me. At least it certainly feels that way right now. Maybe the final product won’t be but I doubt it all things considered.
I'm not getting this any time soon. Though you do gotta give the teams that make COD some credit. These games look absolutely stunning in terms of visual fidelity every time. I do like the MW campaigns so I will end up picking this up at some point.
This fall is just too busy with other games to play though for me.
I enjoyed the MW2019 campaign minus the egregious revisionism with regards to war crimes but the 2nd game passed me by/felt insanely priced and this just seems like a fairly big expansion.
@Max_the_German It's still obviously enormously popular, but I couldn't care less about this one, even if some of the stuff announced does sound quite cool.
Technically the zombies mode was always open world as long as you had the dosh to unlock the doors
Too high a price for an experience which will be tainted by sbmm, didn't bother with vanguard or MW2 for that reason
