We got a glimpse of Zenless Zone Zero during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but the trailer maybe wasn’t the best introduction to the title for those unfamiliar with the release. This gameplay showcase does a much better job of showing off the title, demonstrating its life-sim style lobby where you can play arcade games and manage a VHS store through to its character action combat.
It looks like this title is setting itself apart from Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail by being more character action focused – it’s also got a distinctly urban backdrop, which differs heavily from Genshin’s more fantastical open world. There’s still no release date attached to this, and consoles like PS5 have yet to be confirmed, but expect it to be the next big thing regardless.

The music in this is fantastic
@Sequel Standard HoYoverse innit!
So there's now this, Genshin, Honkai Star Rail, Tower of Fantasy, Blue Protocol and Project Mugen. It's kinda depressing how all these games feel like AAA anime games but the gacha mechanic ruins it for me as late game it is necessary to get characters multiple times, if only developers could make actual single player games that look this good and not include Gacha/MTX
Hoyoverse are a seriously talented dev. This one looks right up my alley.
@UltimateOtaku91 I understand what you mean by gacha putting you off as I was the same also. I've play Honkai star rail since launch and have got all the premium characters except the 1st one as I did not know how the gacha mechanics worked at the start. So far I've only paid £15 and and intend to stop when I've reached full AAA game value and that was just cause I ran out of Exp materials and did not want to grind for more to level up the new premium character I unlocked. The thing about these gacha games is that there will be so many characters to choose from and a lot of them will perform similar roles so just keep a look out for those you want. There's always enough in game currency to get the characters (In star rail anyway).
@z0d15g0d how do the gacha mechanic's work?
@KaijuKaiser I will definitely be playing that on release, just wished more JRPG developers took more time with their games and upgrade the visuals, I mean look how outdated YS and Trails games still look. Only Jrpg I've played that's impressed me visually this gen is Tales of Arise.
@UltimateOtaku91 It isn't necessary in Genshin, or Honkai to have multiple units for late game at all.
Genshin doesn't even really have an end game aside from the Abyss which doesnt doesnt really get you too much from a full clear, and Honkai Star Rail is similar, but has a rogue-like mode on top of Abyss, and you don't need extra copies of characters either as long as you are getting the right buffs during your run, and your characters aren't underdeveloped it's very easy to get overpowered in that mode.
Plus everything scales to your level in those games, so as long as you're leveling up to match the enemy level these games are all in all, as easy as Minecraft.
@VanguardKaiser For HSR the premium characters are on banner pulls. use the in game currency (stellar jades) for the premium only and ignore the other temptations. There is a small percentage to unlock the character but at 90 pulls its guaranteed. This means u need a max total of 14,400 jades to hit 90 (I usually get them around the 65-70 mark). There is a pull counter that shows you how many times you've done it. The jades can be obtained fairly easily from chests, events and daily login quests.
@UltimateOtaku91 : I get what you mean. One can say what they want about most modern 3D games (gacha or not) developed anywhere in Asia outside Japan, but from a visual perspective, especially if its "anime" themed, a LOT of them have been killing it (HoYoverse included).
That fact alone should be something the JP gaming business (and definitely those wanting to make a triple-A anime RPG) should be taking notes of and compete against, instead of seemingly ignoring it for the most part.
@UltimateOtaku91 "I mean look how outdated YS and Trails games still look." Because it's not necessary and they don't look outdated because they are going for a specific style that fits their art. Not to mention they want to make their games able to run on switch without much of a hitch. They've NEVER made games that are graphically demanding because they always prioritized portable consoles.
